crisp packet Posted 4 January 2013 Author Posted 4 January 2013 Just seen the the day of the article Still don't think we have ever replaced him!!!!
AnotherShitSeason Posted 4 January 2013 Posted 4 January 2013 Would like to see him back here as manager one day.
foxoffderby Posted 4 January 2013 Posted 4 January 2013 From what I remember Taylor sold Lennon, it was the final nail in the coffin we never recovered after that. Think we sold him for about 5m, he was never replaced relegated soon after that the rest is history.
Corky Posted 4 January 2013 Posted 4 January 2013 And then we replaced him with Matt Jones. Cheers Taylor, you were a genius.
Collymore Posted 5 January 2013 Posted 5 January 2013 The great thing about that midfield was Savage was kept in check by Lennon, Parker, and Izzet. Parker was the daddy, Muzzy just spoke with his feet and Lennon talked with his feet, fists, arms, elbows, forehead etc etc etc... I wish I'd been brought by that midfield as a child.... I'd be some sort of superbeing
Fox92 Posted 5 January 2013 Posted 5 January 2013 Love him. Don't really remember his time here, but love watching that team on video. No doubt about it, he is a legend.
Guest Col city fan Posted 5 January 2013 Posted 5 January 2013 One of the best players I've seen in a City Shirt. Rarely did he roam into the oppositions half. But the support he gave the defence was the root of much of our success at the time. IMO.
brighton78 Posted 15 January 2013 Posted 15 January 2013 Been going down since 1978. Most influential player I've ever seen.
Finnegan Posted 15 January 2013 Posted 15 January 2013 And then we replaced him with Matt Jones. Cheers Taylor, you were a genius. Can hardly blame Taylor for Jones to be fair.
TrentFox Posted 15 January 2013 Posted 15 January 2013 My favourite memory of Lennon was his debut (?) Away at Reading just after he signed. He was on the bench and came on the pitch to warm up during half-time. I've never seen a more intense warm-up. You could sense his frustration at not being on the pitch and his desire to be out there. He never disappointed on the enthusiasm front.
THEBIGJOHNSTEADER; Posted 15 January 2013 Posted 15 January 2013 I have a re-occuring dream where I'm in a pitch black room, cold and naked. Then a light appears and I can see another naked man, he's got his back to me but I can see his fruitbowl so I know it's a man. An anyway he turns around, it's Neil Lennon, and he's all golden, he lights up the whole room and he just calls to me "Jon, Jon, follow me Jon". It's the most beautiful dream

In a very, very public place. With supervision.
flowwolf Posted 15 January 2013 Posted 15 January 2013 Great read except for the bit that says O'Neil went on to do great things at Celtic and Aston Villa. Celtic yes but Villa ?

Guest shearfox Posted 16 January 2013 Posted 16 January 2013 Great read except for the bit that says O'Neil went on to do great things at Celtic and Aston Villa. Celtic yes but Villa ? He had them regularly in the top six, it has been all down hill for villa since he left..

You could sense his frustration at not being on the pitch and his desire to be out there. He never disappointed on the enthusiasm front. That was actually my first ever Leicester game. I'd love to say I can remember him coming on..but I can't. I just remembered the songs, which I was told not to repeat when I got home. But least I will always remember my first game as being the same game as Neil Lennons Leicester debut...until someone tells me I'm wrong, in which case I shall just remember it from being noisey and not being able to see anything.
flowwolf Posted 17 January 2013 Posted 17 January 2013 Look at where villa are now and look at where they were under oneill Still pushing it a bit to describe it as great things with Villa. Mediocre at best about the same as he is doing at Sunderland at the moment. If just keeping both those cubs in the Prem without winning anything can be described as " great " then I stand corrected.

He didn't just keep them in the Prem they were challenging for European football every season.
Simmsy Posted 17 January 2013 Posted 17 January 2013 I'd say "great" depends on the team. Constantly overachieving with whats's available to you is great imo. Moyes is a good example of that.
flowwolf Posted 17 January 2013 Posted 17 January 2013 He didn't just keep them in the Prem they were challenging for European football every season. So are lots of teams it does not make it " great " In my book great is when you actually get into europe or win some thing , he did neither with Villa and won't do with Sunderland either.

Maybe he didn't do great things but there's no doubt he did a great job. Much better than he's done so far at Villa.
