Be a perfect day tomorrow if Tommy could finally do it and if Brooke Henderson can get the win here at the Canadian Open.

Both won!

This never happens to anyone I root for! lol

Bit like Rory and The Masters. Tommy not winning was a stick he was unfairly whacked with just glad people can move on. Did doubt he'd do it this season tbh though!

At last, well done. Can really see him kicking on next few years and winning a couple of majors.

Really enjoyed the Belfry this week. Went Fri, Sat and last few hours today. Thought Sullivan might steam through and take it, had a lot of support but fell short. Kobori was the juggernaut, his closing stretch was unreal, was on the 17th green for his eagle.

At last !!  Brilliant

want to see how he does next time he’s in strong contention.

He played safe over the last few holes but his driving settled down which made a huge difference. Also helped that no one was able to apply any pressure so it was only his own demons he had to deal with .

Why does golf do this to me? Today's round...

51 front 9

40 back 9

WTAF.

I’m on the verge of going on an extended break but with dark evenings and cold/wet days fast approaching, I can’t.

I started this season so well. Dropped 4 shots when we could start carding again, on the back of 3 winter lessons. I had high hopes for the summer.

The longer it goes on the more I’m yearning for the winter so I can start having lessons again. I’ll remember to stay current next summer as it’s just depressing.

12 points on the front 9 yesterday- 18 coming back in

Today was just a write off. It’s depressing really, knowing that this is pretty much the future of my golfing life- 9/10 coming off the course annoyed at yourself.

On a different note, are everyone’s local golf courses fairways just baked mud/dead grass?

Ours is tantamount to unplayable, especially the front 9 where the fairways run across one way or the other

Yep. All pretty much bare, brown and baked rock hard.

I hit a low 3 wood today that had about 10 degrees launch angle. My 3W normally goes about 210-220 total...... 262 yards!

Our 15th with a mate who made a hole in one yesterday.

Greens are good but never seen the fairways this brown.

I'm very fortunate to play on a course that had very generously watered fairways.

If you land a yard off it though....you're gone!

Interesting to read you don't continue to have lessons during the summer, any reason why?

You want winter, so that you have the break from playing, but then take up lessons? My personal opinion is that's a bit backwards. If you're not playing, practising, implementing what your lessons tell you, you might as well not go.

I absolutely love golf, there are many things I'd happily give up to keep playing and the above is all just my opinion, no harm intended. But my God I'm with you it is so frustrating, the amount of rounds I come off the course and go "why did I hit that over there? What was I thinking?" or something similar is unreal.

That's why I love it though, I do constantly want to get better, get my handicap down and be the best I can be.

Well I naively didn’t think bad habits would creep back in when of course they do 😅

My daft decision came about because I basically want/need to get my monies worth out of my membership during the summer. You can grind on the range 3x a week after work in December but you can’t play 18 holes (assuming the course is open!)

Did well to make an eagle while you were on the green then :P

Sounds like a great weekend.

To be fair, I had a few lessons in June, still got some hours to use with the coach.

Really regret starting them in summer because it’s far too nice to not be out on the course. Absolutely ruined my game being in 2 minds whether I play my game or play the way I’ve been coached (which isn’t working yet, need range time). Obviously you need to put the work into the game too, so getting out is essential, but with the weather we’ve had, I can’t justify spending time on the range rather than getting out on the course. More so for my enjoyment (not golfing enjoyment lol). I look forward to a round but certainly don’t look forward to the range. Quite lucky that I have time to get 3/4 daytime rounds a week.

So much easier going to the range to practice when the weather is bad. Going to pick it back up October onwards and really graft on the range for the winter months.

Regarding the after thoughts of a round, yes… it’s a great game but it’s a real humbler.

That's fair enough, even though I have just said what I said, I continue to have lessons and have got pretty good at separating my range stuff and my "medal"/round stuff. I don't practice as much during the summer, but do keep having lessons just to keep in check and also when you spot patterns in round its nice to have that check in with the coach coming in a week or two. Completely understand on the membership side, I hadn't properly considered that when I commented back to you.

I seem to have less and less time to practice these days so I'm taking up putting practice in the house. I can keep the long game fairly easily, but the short game, not so much!

All I have to say is I'm jealous that you get out 3/4 times a week! That's a dream!
