No. When I filled out the census form, I listed my religion as The Cult of Skaro.

Star Wars is a bit mongy, in my humble opinion.

But obscure doctor who references are way cool.

But the question is do scientific explanations of love devalue it? Does the idea that it is just chemistry make it mean less? Are some people genetically incapable of loving? Can it be artificially recreated?

I want Howard Jones( not literally )

Personally (or should that be Pearsonally on this board?) I've come to the conclusion that love is something you feel towards someone who will worship you and make you feel good about yourself. If they stop making YOU feel good then you don't love them anymore.

It's egoistic, selfish and overrated.

There's no question in my mind that love is a deep spiritual bond.

I know how strong it is, and how it can reach beyond death, beyond dimensions, and beyond all mortal understanding.

This account is superb. I love it.

Of course scientific explanations devalue love, if they claim it's nothing more than a series of chemical reactions. Love is a very real, spiritual power. It's an energy. It cannot be destroyed, and it survives after our deaths.

And yes, Doctor Who references are very cool. Especially if they refer to the Pertwee era.

It's never helped me :(

I think he was talking about having a big penis - not an attempted murder.

Love is as love does (yes of course that makes sense stupid)

Where is the really long, serious post that you can usually expect to find in threads like these? Different things to different people...In my experience...deep and spiritual....In Ancient Aboriginal communities.....According to the well known Finnish philosopher that I just googled...blah blah. Come on lads get with it.

How has this thread not attracted any night at the Roxbury posts?

Does it serve Martinis?

These new posters who joined today are a card that's for sure!

Love is allowing your new-born daughter to keep her clitoris, no matter what your archaic religion teaches

Apart from this one maybe. No offence.

I'd like to see you show me which religion teaches that claptrap.

You cant trust any woman. Even the nice ones will break your heart.

You've got to change that negative thought into a positive one. Chin up, you're still a young lad with plenty to offer the ho's!

Hit the town tomorrow strutting and smiling at all the ladies and repeat the Dr Phil mantra in your head - "I'm a dog with a BONE. And I'm finding me some love tonight". It might not work straight away but eventually you'll be laughing, loving and boning again.

Yeah but when your best friend of 6 years cheats on you I dont know how it stops hurting. Its 4 months on and still just feel completley emasculated and dont see how Id ever trust any girl again. I went home with 2 girls over xmas but if anything it's just made me feel even more shit.

Pathetic I know.

Love lasts for a while but not forever, so don't go and sign away half your life to quickly... but you will want to settle down eventually so i suppose if you meet the right person who you get on with then that will do ya, oh and she has to be looking good! don't wanna be shagging a whale 10 years down the line.

It's not pathetic, 6 years is a long time in love so I can see why you'd be struggling for a while. I've likely been cheated on in the past but I didn't ever know about it so not sure exactly how I'd feel about that.

You'll be back on form sooner or later and one day you'll defo meet somebody who takes your mind off the old girl. I'm not known for being the king of peptalks though so can't really say anymore!

Better a friend for life than a lover just for Xmas.

Get a dog

love is only about what YOU get out of it. Learn that and move on.
