Does anyone think we might drop out of the play offs?

Recommended Posts

A drop out the playoffs could see the players get their f**king act together to push on because right now we seem lethargic and going through the motions which is not great when automatic promotion is their for us to grasp but we seemingly cannot do it for whatever reason.

Lets be realistic...Even if we do staty in teh PO...All momentum is gone...The winning ways of Jan are gone, the winning mentality when then players just had to turn up is gone.

YOu dont get through the PO's with that attitude/mindset...a club who gop into the PO's in a winning mindset end up winning it..All you fcukers who were alking about going to Florist to celebrate Going up,may have to go ther needing a win to stay in the play offs.

So with the league hotting up, Bolton, Brighton and Forest getting a head of steam up, Boro beating Cardiff yesterday, here we are with 4pts from our last 15, against rivals toward the bottom of the league.

Could it all go completely t*ts up?

It has already gone tits up. Even if we do manage to stay in the playoffs I can't honestly see us winning it.

Let's not panic after a few iffy results. After we beat Blackburn, people were saying top two was on, one game later and now panicking about staying in the top 6. Next couple of games at home are huge, it's now or never

A few iffy results ! :D :D :D Think it's abit more serious than that - nice try.

We could be on for autos again by Saturday night...or we might be looking at 7th place.

I don't think it is worth torturing ourselves over it. Our anxiety probably filters through to the pitch and this isn't helpful.*

Just wait and see and try to enjoy the ride.

* Cue someone saying 'highly paid professionals, blah blah blah.'

Things have changedover the last month:

1) The old adage "everyones inconsistant in this league", no longer applies. In fact, in the top 10 places only ourselves and Boro are out of form.

2) This is now the business end of the season, all our competitors for promotion are fighting like dogs, we aren't.

3) If your current form is losing to Charlton, Peterborough and Ipswich, how are we going to turn that into wins against better opposition?

4) The win against Blackburn now dosen't look that much when you consider they've not won in the league for weeks.

5) Only a very good run of form over the remaining games will preserve our PO place and that is against a lot of the best teams.

6) We now need points away as well as at home.

A massive 2 games this week which on current form you would think will only result in 3 points or less

In the League One season we had a dip just before the end of the season. I feared that not only would we drop from 1st, we could drop into the playoffs and the uncertainty that brings. In that April, over Easter, we picked up a few wins and other dropped a few points and we ended up cementing the top spot.

This doesn't mean I am not worried by a few of our recent results, it's just that the end of the season can be unpredictable. Whoever can keep their nerve and their form will reap the rewards.

Nigel Pearson has a history of keeping his nerve and achieving his objectives in a season. If we don't achieve our objectives this season, it's not the manager's fault, it is because we weren't quite good enough. But can anyone deny that we have made good progress?

Keep the faith!!

Except in the past 2 seasons

If he achieved his objectives every single season then he would be managing Real Madrid.

Last season he was struggling to manage the highly paid egos brought in by Sven. This season he has worked to get rid of the egos but, although he has done remarkably well in moving on players on far too much money, some of the fixes are only temporary. The job isn't done yet.

What he has done is laid the foundation of a talented young team who can grow together. It would be a great shame if he wasn't allowed to continue to build his team next season, regardless of the division we are in.

At Home we are amongst the best in the division. And historically, we always play better against the better sides who actually play football.

It could go either way. We could sneak 2nd or finish 8th, let's try and get behind the team as much as we can though.
