The Year Of The Fox Posted 15 March 2013 Posted 15 March 2013 They'll shut the microphones off near the away end. They did that at England away v Andorra at Barcelone (2nd time round) 'We hate Setanta' was the ludest chant of the night, more so that our National Anthem. Setanta dubbed it out
Dan Posted 15 March 2013 Posted 15 March 2013 40 pieces of silver. it's this attitude that has fúcked modern football up. I don't crave those players you mention, I crave a team I would be proud of, and it is achievable even if people say times have changed and this is how it is yadda yadda.
Dan Posted 15 March 2013 Posted 15 March 2013 I live with Mum who subscribes to $ky but I can safely say when I've got my own place I won't be.
Dan Posted 15 March 2013 Posted 15 March 2013 There are so many branches to this argument. It could be argued without Sky all the good players would go to Spain and Italy, etc. I think if Sky are going to move games then season-ticket holders or anyone who bought a ticket before the game was moved should receive a discount from the Sky money not some bullshit bring a friend along when I'm in a season-ticket only holders area. But realistically I'm biased because I'm a season ticket holder. I think they should only be allowed to move a certain amount of any clubs home games I don't mind a few but the amount we've had is a joke. I also think if anyone wants to protest then fair enough they should be allowed to. It might start off as something small but could soon snowball. If no-one does anything at all then Sky will just run rough-shod over all fans. All companies care about PR. I also think even though the club have to playcate Sky they should release a statement saying how annoyed they are. Because they might find a lot of fans start abandoning season-tickets/home games. Of course some people are lucky enough to say support your team go to all matches or you're not a real fan - but thats unrealistic and I assume younger, childless or local fans - there are people with kids, or don't live locally who can't make mid-week games. If the club hits rough times Sky won't want to know and they might find it hard to win back fans who've left because they feel the club care more about Sky than their own fans. It's a bit like the league cup - big clubs and their fans don't give a toss about it until they find it's the only thing left. To be honest I couldn't give a shit where these so called 'stars' end up. If they're only coming here for the money and the hype then they can fvck off, that's a very little loss IMO. $ky as a business have played a blinder, the Premier League however is an absolute abomination and the more I think about the league the more I think what a joke it is.

I'm well anti Sky and alwa6ys have been til I got my own place. It is very nice on a super sunday on the sofa all day. Its crazy how easy you get used to pause rewind and record!
Dan Posted 15 March 2013 Posted 15 March 2013 It's something I often do myself so does it make me a hypocrite? Arguably but if I was to not watch it out of spite then no-one benefits, I'd happily give it up to see us play at decent kick off times in front of decent crowds though, any day of the week.

ozleicester Posted 15 March 2013 Posted 15 March 2013 Can i still hate Murdoch, if i watch the live (illegal) stream of Sky matches?
Bob Weasel Fox Posted 15 March 2013 Posted 15 March 2013 Haven't got sky, not sure a protest will do any good though

That's the thing, decent kick off times. Thursday nights? What the hell is that about? I just hate the no consideration towards fans... I mean, Watford fans will struggle to make the game against us on a Friday night. It's their last game of the season as well (I think), and they will probably be around the play offs/automatic promotion places. Been on the Watford forum and the majority and indicating they can't make it now.
The Year Of The Fox Posted 15 March 2013 Posted 15 March 2013 We can't confuse Derby's poor home attendance due to lack of PS3s available per match ticket

I get more wound up about the top 4 and liverpool chasing 4th spot in the prem than they do the FA Cup
topharry123 Posted 15 March 2013 Posted 15 March 2013 With the losses recently announced, we should be pleased that our games are being moved and giving us that extra tv money. I quite like the Friday night games I don't see the big deal with having to watch us on a Friday or a Saturday.

flowwolf Posted 15 March 2013 Posted 15 March 2013 Borg Syndrome......"Resistance is Futile" The amount of money Sky have pumped into the game has enabled us to see some amazing games with some phenomenal players who wouldn't be on show without Sky funding! Frustrating yes English football without it....fvcked It's English football" with" it that's fvcked it . Let's get something straight Sky have not pumped money into anything at all, Sky is not some benevolent uncle giving out money to some favourite nephew or niece they are a rapacious business owned by a rapacious man Murdoch. Any money they have paid out has come from the revenue they get from Sky subscribers all over the world and the advertisers. Every time you buy a product that has been advertised on a sky chanel ( which is just about everything ) some of that price goes towards the product being advertised in turn again on Sky ( our new wonderful electronic pain in the arse pitch headache being the latest ). And once you have subscribed to Sky each year the fee is cranked up bit by bit without most people even caring that they are being financially raped. Wether people like it or not we all pay Sky directly or indirectly such is the monopoly the greedy bastards have on this and other countries media. And they now have such a grip on financial matters related to football that all clubs and the F.A dance to their tune. And that is why you only get 7 Saturday 3pm kickoffs per season because they don't need your money through the turnstiles any more, you are just mugs paying one way or the other into Murdoch's global monopoly. Ah you may ask so what are you doing about it instead of just moaning on here. Well I have just cancelled my Sky subscription and most certainly will not be renewing my season ticket next year after more than twenty years as a season ticket holder. Someone just bought in the Coffee and I woke up and smelt it.
J.Lisemore Posted 15 March 2013 Posted 15 March 2013 Agree with Ashley, we need to do something cos its getting out of control. None of this 'we've got to adjust to this' bollocks.
Leicester_Numan Posted 15 March 2013 Posted 15 March 2013 It would make more sense to have a protest at one of the home games that have been moved. I'd love to see how Sky handle that with banners and anti-Sky chants on all sides of the ground. Lot's of player close ups and canned cheering probably. It probably won't make the slightest bit of difference in the long run but at least the protest will have been registered and we'll have presented them with a problem in how they cover the game.

BoneDog Posted 15 March 2013 Posted 15 March 2013 Borg Syndrome......"Resistance is Futile" The amount of money Sky have pumped into the game has enabled us to see some amazing games with some phenomenal players who wouldn't be on show without Sky funding! Frustrating yes English football without it....fvcked Amazing games and phenomenal players were around long before Sky turned up though. European games were always on tele even back in the 80's when I was a kid and I remember seeing the likes of Van Basten and other greats regularly on tv. We always had a live Sunday game on tv along with a few midweek ones and highlights shows every week, but the majority of games were still played at 3pm on Saturdays. I've heard a few people say that Sky have 'improved the game' but I can't see how they've done that at all. Being a footballer has always been the most popular dream for young lads and there have always been quality footballers around whether the wages and bonuses on offer were ridiculous or not. The passion of the masses has always been there for football long before there were 7 matches on tv a night. If anything, all of this money in the game has taken some of the passion away. It seems like Sky has all the league clubs in England and Scotland under their control nowadays. Not sure what it's like in other countries.
Raj Posted 15 March 2013 Posted 15 March 2013 Hope everyone who slates Sky doesnt give them £40 per month in subscription money!!!
Guest Col city fan Posted 15 March 2013 Posted 15 March 2013 I would say this to anyone who is genuinely 'Anti-Sky'. If you want to do something meaningful (rather than just wave some flags at the Derby game)), then do what Oxford has done. Cancel your SKY subscription. If you live with your parents, educate them as to the error of their ways and get them to cancel their subscriptions also. Finally, if City get promoted to 'The Promised Land', don't renew your season ticket. In fact, stop going completely... reason being, when we go out and sign the likes of Scott Sinclair to replace Lloyd Dyer and pay him 70k per week, this will be on the back of SKY money. You surely won't want to pay to go to clap and cheer players who are being funded by SKY revenue I would suspect? Also, don't watch them on SKY. Personally, and I re-iterate, I'm happy that the Derby game is on SKY on Sat. As a 'working man', I'm working on Saturday until 3pm. That will give me the time to cycle home, have a shower, grab a couple of Theakston's out of the fridge and feel that I am 'cheering my team on', when I could not have done otherwise. I'll be able to sit down and watch the game in front of my plasma TV in beautiful HD. For this, I thank-you SKY.
