Kitchandro Posted 6 April 2013 Posted 6 April 2013 Why are Channel 4 doing this countdown thing in 10s with the runners? People just want the full list in order. There's one thing BBC did so much better.

Guest shearfox Posted 6 April 2013 Posted 6 April 2013 I have money on Seabass and Teaforthree both apparently look good for this race. I went outright for both
Kitchandro Posted 6 April 2013 Posted 6 April 2013 And they're not even showing the parade. Awful coverage from Channel 4. Ok it wasn't the proper parade (shambles IMO) but have they gone through the runners once yet?
Kitchandro Posted 6 April 2013 Posted 6 April 2013 All over the first 7. What does that tell you? The course is a fvcking embarrassment now. The race has been destroyed. Well done ozleicester
Matt Posted 6 April 2013 Posted 6 April 2013 Got nothing on my bets, but got 2nd in a sweepstake so not too bad atleast I got something back!
Guest shearfox Posted 6 April 2013 Posted 6 April 2013 66-1 winner....make of that what you will Had Teaforthree and Seabass at 10 pound each. Really thought Teaforthree for going to take it towards the end. A bad jump though cost me
General Smuts Posted 6 April 2013 Posted 6 April 2013 For the 3rd year running I've had an each way bet on the 2nd place and for the 3rd year running they were first going into the last fence. Eurgh.
Ant out of Ant'n'Dec Posted 6 April 2013 Posted 6 April 2013 Aurora's Encore was my other horse I backed, which was tipped up elsewhere. Backed it at 80/1 £5 e/w so quite happy. Bit disappointed in Seabass' run personally. I think twice running its had major claims and maybe questions have to be asked of Katie Walsh. That said, she's got it home in the first 6 or 7 twice, which is no mean feat in the National - although as a race the National is not what it once was. Completely sanitised, just to please people who don't even like the sport. Makes me mad.

The pace didn't seem very fast and I never felt that any horse could fall if they didn't quite meet a fence right, there would have been loads of average jumpers out there and they kept getting away with it. A lot of falls were tired ones. Worst Grand National I've ever seen, I thought 2011 was bad when they missed out 2 fences but Beachers Brook may as well have not been there this time. Why can't they see that it was the drop that made that fence special, without it it's a nothing fence! I don't think you can blame Katie Walsh that much, Seabass once again made too many mistakes.
Ant out of Ant'n'Dec Posted 6 April 2013 Posted 6 April 2013 Might as well give in to the idiot public and ban it altogether. Its no longer any kind of spectacle.
whoareyaaa Posted 6 April 2013 Posted 6 April 2013 mam won £104 after a £2 each way on the winner not bad at all, I should of followed her!
BoneDog Posted 6 April 2013 Posted 6 April 2013 Me and the Mrs had 5 hos's between us and only one of them finished. She had Across the Bay which came close to glory but faded away at the last fence or two.
Kitchandro Posted 7 April 2013 Posted 7 April 2013 I'd actually go as far as to say the winner would have unshipped his rider at 4 out with the old style fences. Watching it again, I can't believe how many horses plough through fences to little or no negative effect. Ridiculous. They're just big hurdles, but with more give.
Tempwan Yierban Posted 7 April 2013 Posted 7 April 2013 Agreed Kitchandro. Most of the field had at least one let off but three or four routinely jumped through fences.
Matt Posted 7 April 2013 Posted 7 April 2013 Grand National winning jockey Ryan Mania had a heavy fall in the 3.10 @ Hexham, still be treated now on the course and is being airlifted off the course, no more details to report apparently.

Matt Posted 7 April 2013 Posted 7 April 2013 Concious, Stable condition, Neck and Back injuries. Fell off the horse at high speed may have been hit by another horse.
