Manwell Pablo Posted 5 April 2013 Posted 5 April 2013 Cappa bleu.. I despise Horse racing but got in the spirit of it at work and managed to draw this horse. A reasonable draw I believe?
Simo86 Posted 5 April 2013 Posted 5 April 2013 I've done my usual and spread my bets. Got 6 horses all together Chicago Grey, Teaforthree, Roberto Goldback, Balthazar King, Colbert Station & On His Own. All e/w so hopefully I'll be in profit come the end of the race! Seabass for me. Odds of 10/1 at betfred yesterday which was pretty decent considering the potential starting price A woman won't win it..........................
Kitchandro Posted 5 April 2013 Posted 5 April 2013 Would love Seabass to win for the story but was on it last year and it made way too many mistakes. On the upside it probably would have won if it wasn't for those, maybe he'll jump better wiith the experience of having jumped round there already. I've got a feeling about Cappa Bleu.
Kitchandro Posted 5 April 2013 Posted 5 April 2013 On the evidence of the two races over it so far, the Grand National course is way too easy to jump round. In fact the biggest issue they're going to have is how narrow the fences are. They're ridiculous considering there's 40 horses. I don't know why they made them narrower, the width of them has never really been a negative and the horses carry on with the field and continue to get in the way regardless. Looking at Bechers Brook, the horses don't even nod anymore. That fence doesn't even deserve it's own name these days. TBH it will serve them right if there are more fatalities tomorrow, they've tried to change it over and over again over the last 15 years and the death toll hasn't decreased at all. They've just made a shitter race. Look at today, 19 finishers out of 29 in the Topham, which is too many, and yet a horse has still died. The problem is, the easier/smaller you make the fences, the quicker they go at them and that is what is most dangerous. The people who make these decisions are absolute idiots who just bow down to public hysteria. Back in the 70s and 80s I'd agree the fences were too dangerous, but in the years 1991-1996, after the first big changes to the course, there were no fatalities at all, and the races were some of the best. So why did they change it? They reacted to a couple of freak accidents which generally weren't to do with the fences, just as with last year. I predict there are going to be some really average jumpers doing well and even winning the National in the coming years.
Ant out of Ant'n'Dec Posted 5 April 2013 Posted 5 April 2013 Sizeable e/w on Seabass, placed sometime ago and supplemented with every win since. Good luck all and here's hoping we don't have too many horses perish this time and idiots who don't care at any other time of year suddenly wanting to ban the sport.
ScouseFox Posted 5 April 2013 Posted 5 April 2013 So far in various sweeps/small e/ws I'm on Imperial Commander, Cappa Bleu, Always Waining, Quiscover Fontaine, Major Malarkey & Rare Bob. Think that'll do me . Not expecting any return at all, outlay of only about a tenner. All for fun with the big one, really.
Matt Posted 5 April 2013 Posted 5 April 2013 Got Cappa Bleu in a sweepstake. I've not had a good look at the national yet, but really fancy Imperial Commander, can't help thinking its my heart ruling my head though, tbh it's a race you really really fancy a horse in because it's such a big race, all it takes it one horse to fall and take yours out, or a lose horse to cut across and mess the horse you've back up but I do quite fancy Imperial Commander. I saw it at about 25's a week or 2 back and should have snapped that up, it's down to 16's at the moment I was going to get a bet on this afternoon but I decided against it hoping it might open up about 20's tomorrow morning then i'll get on it along with a few other picks.
Bert Posted 5 April 2013 Posted 5 April 2013 It's worthwhile to have a bet on horses that placed last year that are going again this year.

dobbylcfc Posted 6 April 2013 Posted 6 April 2013 I got 90th minuite reckon I've got as much chance as the sky blue scum being back in the championship nxt season
Ant out of Ant'n'Dec Posted 6 April 2013 Posted 6 April 2013 50 Quid Seabass on the nose Steers clear of trouble and wins this Suspect Rare Bob may run in to a place if same applies.
duk3nuk3m Posted 6 April 2013 Posted 6 April 2013 My picks for the National are: Balthazar King Join Together Soll E/W Roberto Goldback E/W Any Currency E/W Going to see what odds I can get later on. Good luck all!
foxfanazer Posted 6 April 2013 Posted 6 April 2013 Gone for Colbert Station Imperial Commander Forpadydeplasterer (no chance)
Guest MattP Posted 6 April 2013 Posted 6 April 2013 On form Seabass looks the one to beat. I'll be cheering on Imperial Commander but I think Teaforthree could win it for Rebecca Curtis, she is producing some outstanding stayers at the minute.
BoneDog Posted 6 April 2013 Posted 6 April 2013 This is a tough decision who to bet on. I've got enough left in my account for two e/w's but can't make my mind up. Might just go for large odds and hope for a place.
General Smuts Posted 6 April 2013 Posted 6 April 2013 Any good free bets anywhere? I liked the Ladbrokes 30 quid free bets after depositing a tenner but i think that doesn't count between now and the race.
I am Rod Hull Posted 6 April 2013 Posted 6 April 2013 SkyBet crashed just as I was picking my 10th horse
Kitchandro Posted 6 April 2013 Posted 6 April 2013 I can see why people would want Imperial Commander to win, but, I dunno, if the top weight wins I think it says more about the course than the horse.
Father Ted Posted 6 April 2013 Posted 6 April 2013 Gone for Imperial Commander and Sunnyhillboy to win and EW shots on What A Friend and Viking Blond (for Kasper)...
BoneDog Posted 6 April 2013 Posted 6 April 2013 Thought I'd left it too late. Skybet was down for ages. Lost Glory e/w 50/1 Roberto Goldback e/w 22/1 And had to have the sweepstake hos I got Ninetieth Minute small 20p e/w 80/1

JonnyBoy Posted 6 April 2013 Posted 6 April 2013 tenner on seabass, good bet ? no ideas when it comes to Horses. Just backed the favourite
Ant out of Ant'n'Dec Posted 6 April 2013 Posted 6 April 2013 tenner on seabass, good bet ? no ideas when it comes to Horses. Just backed the favourite Hope so, reckon if Seabass manages to avoid trouble, which is a big if, it really ought to be in the shake up. Usually don't go big on the national, but have a substantial amount now riding on this, partly e/w and partly on the nose
