Lcfcjonno Posted 22 April 2013 Posted 22 April 2013 Saying we don't get promoted this season who or what do we need to finally get us up
jonthefox Posted 22 April 2013 Posted 22 April 2013 Stability from the owners. And consistency from the team. Get that, and were laughing.

Fox92 Posted 22 April 2013 Posted 22 April 2013 Who as in players or a new manager? I'd like to see Pearson stay regardless. In terms of players, we need a new left back especially.
NewburyFox Posted 22 April 2013 Posted 22 April 2013 Definitely a centre back as Keane will go and a left back to replace Konchesky. A centre midfielder would be next on my list as too often the centre midfield has been dominated (although king and James are playing very well together ATM) and then a left winger. But first, we're going to need to ship out the high earners. That's a priority.
kingfox Posted 22 April 2013 Posted 22 April 2013 We need Dennis and Vicky back. Filbert is getting lonely I think, all he has had this season is a bit of that Jacksonville Jaguar mascot, who acted like an utter ****, when he decided to stand on the disabled area of the Family Stand only to get told off by Stewards.
Alf Bentley Posted 22 April 2013 Posted 22 April 2013 A couple of psychologically strong players who are influential in the dressing room / on the training room. Definitely a central midfielder with that sort of character, maybe a centre back, too. Their footballing ability would be secondary (within reason). We have had ample technical footballing ability in the squad this season - one of the best footballing squads/teams in the division. The fact that we're desperately trying to get into the playoffs, not coasting to promotion, is not down to a lack of quality and not down to the manager (except in maybe in over-egging the "young and hungry" requirement and not setting enough store by "strong, wise and influential in times of adversity"). It is down to comparative psychological weakness in the squad (how many goals conceded in the last 5 minutes?!) in what is a very, very tough division psychologically. Even now, though, frustratingly they seem to be getting stronger psychologically (v. Brighton, Bolton, Palace...). Maybe it was just a little bit too early? The first Pearson squad that made the play-offs 3 years ago was nowhere near as good as this one in terms of technical ability and footballing skills...but it was a lot stronger psychologically... If we miss out (and we might not), this squad is only that little, crucial bit short, I feel... Keep the bulk of it together, make a couple of wise additions and I'd be very optimistic.
Dan Posted 23 April 2013 Posted 23 April 2013 Outs; Wellens - Past his sell-by date, and most likely on silly unsustainable wages. Gallagher - See Wellens although past-it is probably unfair, he just doesn't offer enough all-round. Danns - Over-rated and over-paid. Beckford - See Danns. Vardy - Not good enough. Futacs - Not good enough. Konchesky - He'll be on high wages, and he's declining. Maybe getting rid is harsh but we may have little choice. St Ledger - Yet another who'll be most likely on more than he's worth. I wouldn't be against keeping him. Whitbread - Hasn't been worth the gamble. I also think we'll end up getting rid of some of the favourites too sadly. Players such as Nugent (needs to justify his wage) may end up going and I think players such as Schmeichel and Knockaert will attract interest. I must state also there's no way every name I've mentioned will leave, but I think each one has a good chance. Ins A centre half is the priority if you ask me. Someone to partner Morgan. Whitbread hasn't really done it for us, Keane won't be back here next year and I think St Ledger will be off. I'd also like a new left back. Konchesky isn't good enough to warrant a starting spot for me anymore. Good in patches but hoofs it so often and is massively unconvincing defensively. I wouldn't be against another right back either as I'd genuinely toy with the idea of moving De Laet to right midfield/wing. A central midfielder should also be on the priorities list. Someone who can stick the boot in. It's not pretty, but it works in this league, we lose the physical battle so often it's pathetic. I like King, James and Drinkwater but we need an Olofinjana type of player in there, someone who can play football but actually has a real presence about them too. And finally, another winger with real quality.
Mark_w Posted 23 April 2013 Posted 23 April 2013 And consistency from the team. Get that, and were laughing. We could lose every game then next year and you'd be happy?
