bernys_boys Posted 22 April 2013 Posted 22 April 2013 A lot of you may disagree with me but if we were to get promoted I could see two things happening 1.do a west ham and finish about mid table 2. Straight back down The question is, based on those 2 points would you want promotion? IMO to finish mid table would just be boring and to come straight back down or be in a relegation battle would be great when we won games but eventually everyone would get fed up of losing. BUT as much as the championship frustrates me at times, it is exciting and it's a great feeling when your looking at the top half of the table and seeing Leicester rather than looking down the table and seeing us. So based on what I have said, would you want promotion? Not looking at it financially or anything just for how enjoyable it would be.
theessexfox Posted 22 April 2013 Posted 22 April 2013 But I am looking at it financially. Otherwise we're fvcked. So YES.
crisp monster Posted 22 April 2013 Posted 22 April 2013 No of course we wouldn't want promotion The buzz around the KP when we're about to play Barnsley is far greater than when we would play Man U or Spurs Stroll on!
Guest Posted 22 April 2013 Posted 22 April 2013 So you're saying we wouldn't be challenging for a place in Europe? Colour me devastated
HEGGSY Posted 22 April 2013 Posted 22 April 2013 You want to be at the top but don't like the idea of promotion? Would you be content with losing in the play offs every year as opposed to finishing mid table in the prem, then?
TheUltimateWinner Posted 22 April 2013 Posted 22 April 2013 Where's the percentage guy from the florist ticket thread, he's the guy to talk to.
Amin Posted 22 April 2013 Posted 22 April 2013 Seeing Leicester lose to the likes of Barnsley and Peterborough isn't my idea of excitement.
Fox92 Posted 22 April 2013 Posted 22 April 2013 I think Swansea are the team to look at for what we should be doing... They went up, didn't spend that much money, played attractive football and stayed up. Ok, they have changed manager, but again played attractive football this season, not spent too much but brought quality in and won a major trophy.
Charl91 Posted 22 April 2013 Posted 22 April 2013 I would be super happy to finish mid-table in the prem. It gives a solid ground to build on.
NiftyFox Posted 22 April 2013 Posted 22 April 2013 **** it if we're not ready for the Prem, let's get out of this league which we've been in for too long and see what happens. Imagine the away trips to OT and Anfield and the atmosphere we would generate at the KP.
Libertine Dream Posted 22 April 2013 Posted 22 April 2013 **** it if we're not ready for the Prem, let's get out of this league which we've been in for too long and see what happens. Imagine the away trips to OT and Anfield and the atmosphere we would generate at the KP. Yeah as the fans boo the team cos we lose 2-0 to Man Utd
Kitchandro Posted 22 April 2013 Posted 22 April 2013 I enjoyed League 1. Shall we just go back there? Honestly threads like this astonish me.
deanolegend1989 Posted 22 April 2013 Posted 22 April 2013 Its a stupid thread. Midtable in the premiership is successful and tbh its as likely as its ever been to stay up, due to about 10-12 teams VERY average and not much different to the strength in about 10 CCC clubs. All 3 of the teams stayed up last year and 2 this year.. Granted mid table is kind of 'boring' and I do think in the future the top teams are going to get further and further ahead and it will cause a problem(in terms of football as a whole). In terms of where we'd want to be though, Id LOVE to be having 'boring' Stoke/Fulham/West Brom like seasons..seeing the best players coming to the KP and not having to win every week to ruin a season. Look at Norwich this year, 1 win in 17 but totally fine, Stoke not much better...not much pressure to win every week can easily not win in like 6 games and its hardly a scare as long as you pick up the odd win here and there. Ive said this for ages but I think its easier to stay in the Premier league than getting promoted in the first place..Unless an odd occasion when a relegated team keeps all thier players(Newcastle 09/10) most seasons, you'd be suprised how many teams never make it(or look like making it). Wolves and Blackburn this season..even Bolton were struggling until a late surge. Id go as far to say if we were just thrown into the Premiership with this team, Id be more confident in staying up than failing to get up and going up next year in the CCC!
Fox92 Posted 22 April 2013 Posted 22 April 2013 Also, let's remember West Ham had a very strong squad when they got promoted. They didn't really need to buy much more, I mean, in our division, they still had Noble, Collison, Cole, Tomkins etc while being able to attract the likes of Nolan. I did expect them to finish mid table.
Mike the Metal Ed Posted 23 April 2013 Posted 23 April 2013 No, as I found as a season ticket for 1996-2002, you don't tire of watching Leicester beat enough of the best teams in the country to finish mid-table. Although winning a couple of League Cups in that time helped as well.
foxfanazer Posted 23 April 2013 Posted 23 April 2013 Would I want to finish mid table in the prem next season? Hmmmmm that's a tough one Next!
tomtom Posted 23 April 2013 Posted 23 April 2013 You wouldn't want to finish mid table in the prem because it would be "boring"...... I'm honestly stunned, what would your realistic dream scenario be for the next 3 seasons then???
Buzzell Posted 23 April 2013 Posted 23 April 2013 So are you saying you would rather battle for playoffs in the Championship rather then play in the big time against some of the best teams in Europe?! Absolute mind-boggling thread.
Bayfox Posted 23 April 2013 Posted 23 April 2013 So are you saying you would rather battle for playoffs in the Championship rather then play in the big time against some of the best teams in Europe?! Absolute mind-boggling thread. Best teams in europe? Are we moving to germany or spain?
Buzzell Posted 23 April 2013 Posted 23 April 2013 Best teams in europe? Are we moving to germany or spain? Read again. I never said 'best teams', I said 'some of the best teams'. Manchester United, Manchester City, Arsenal, Chelsea, Liverpool and maybe even Tottenham.
flowwolf Posted 23 April 2013 Posted 23 April 2013 Yes I remember how fvcking bored we all were under the O'Neil years in the prem. Never making a top four place and only winning a couple of League cups. Give me the championship league any day.
THEBIGJOHNSTEADER; Posted 23 April 2013 Posted 23 April 2013 I appreciate people's opinions but anyone saying they'd rather us stay in the championship than get promoted I have this message... "Shut up you fvcking crank"
