m00nie Posted 27 April 2013 Posted 27 April 2013 On the flip side, he has persisted with 4-4-2 which gives attacking players more license to be creative. It's the players who have not made things happen on the pitch which is the problem, and a certain amount of motivation and concentration needs to come from within. The players clearly still like the manager and have belief in him, hence the spirited displays recently, from interviews i think they know that they have let themselves down. This season will have been a good experience for them. An older head, and a couple of quality players in addition to the squad we have would be very good. I hope we keep Pearson, this is his side and he will know the weaknesses and address them. We just need to sign Keane, and hang onto the likes of Kasper, De Laet, James, Nuge and Wood and we have a great spine there. People need to realise that if we had gone straight up 4-5-1 this season and played shit football, we still wouldn't have won many games, whether they were 1-0 or whatever, because we have shown that from set pieces we are dire (although i think we have improved in that area recently). The fact is that at 4-4-2, and often 4-3-3, the players have had license to attack and failed. It would be smart to keep the manager. He knows the club, he knows the weaknesses. Get a new manager and we start all over again, and we certainly cannot afford to get rid of half the team and replace them. why do people try and use this as a reason to keep NP.. a new manager does not mean he will strip the team bare, a new manager can still see where players skills are.. but with the added bonus of wanting some of his own players also which could be what we need.. and if nigel stays likely we may have to replace some anyway as can see kasper going, no way were going to get keane staying, konchesky had his day now, knocky will probally move on..
EnglishOxide Posted 27 April 2013 Posted 27 April 2013 He's let four centre backs go, mills, bamba, tunchev and st ledger then asked Wes and a man utd rookie to do a job, you would think as a centre back himself he would get this sorted first. Konchesky has no competition at left back, and would have lost his place if we had some, he's made a balls up in the area of the pitch he made a living from himself. St. Ledger is only gone on loan hasn't he? He was first choice before his injury when we were playing well and winning games. I wouldn't mind a partnership of Morgan and St Ledge next season, if he fails to sign Keane on the permanent (or for another season long loan). Either way, i'm happy with Keane, Morgan, St. Ledge and Moore as the CBs. Konchesky i see your point, we should be looking at phasing him out although he still gets alot of unfair stick on here. His lack of pace is a problem because he commits himself forward to try and start attacks as the rest aren't taking on that responsibility. If we allow him to only concentrate on defending then his experience is vital. If we cannot find a suitable replacement then i wouldn't mind if we put Schluup there, his pace is so valuable and he can defend aswell as attack. Him and De Laet at full back gives opposition wingers something to think about. I don't think it is a massive problem area though tbh. why does people ry and use this as a reason to keep NP.. a new manager does not mean he will strip the team bare, a new manager can still see where players skills are.. but with the added bonus of wanting some of his own players also which could be what we need.. and if nigel stays likely we may have to replace some anyway as can see kasper going, no way were going to get keane staying, konchesky had his day now, knocky will probally move on.. Because stability is often better than getting a new manager, no matter how bad the previous season ended. Chopping and changing managers simply has not worked for us has it? Look at the team Nigel has built, it is sustainable, it is a look at the long term. IF we lose Kasper, we are likely to get some good money for him. I trust Nigel to spend it wisely (everybody is allowed a risk/mistake like the Vardy transfer). Him and Knockaert will command £10 mill easy (although i can't see Knockaert going anywhere). If Keane goes then we are stuck with Morgan and St Ledge which worked for us earlier in the season. You can't just say get rid of him when there are no clearly better alternatives. I mean people are looking at young and upcoming managers from the lower leagues, are you going to be hounding them out of the club next season when we finish 10th next season? The ONLY manager available right now who MIGHT improve us is Martin O'Neill, and he has turned us down at every opportunity before. People are just saying 'sack him' without offering alternatives, and when the alternatives include Mark Hughes, Roy Keane, Gareth Southgate and Neil Warnock, who themselves have been through plenty of clubs themselves actually speaks volumes for their success. In other words, some of them may have been promoted before, but they are also limited managers who will not get you further than a relegation scrap in the Premiership the following season. I'm not saying Nigel can get us up and have us fighting for mid table, but i'm saying he is building a squad that has a chance of sustaining a top flight status without the need to replace ageing championship level players.
Ely fox Posted 27 April 2013 Posted 27 April 2013 Seriously hope he is gone by the start of next season ... crap manager!

St ledger is out on loan but not sure on relationship with Pearson, he was put on transfer list by Pearson at the start of the season, he also loaned moore to brentford at a time when we had dyer even filling in at left back because he doesn't rate his own signing whitbread! I'll be surprised if SSL stays if indeed Pearson holds onto the job. Because stability is often better than getting a new manager, no matter how bad the previous season ended. Guest Bilo Posted 27 April 2013 Posted 27 April 2013 St. Ledger, Danns, Beckford, Wellens, Gallagher and quite possibly some less dispensable players such as Schmeichel are likely to go in the summer. There'll be a different LCFC next season for sure.
Bob Weasel Fox Posted 27 April 2013 Posted 27 April 2013 Yes he was last seen rowing down the canal in one of his trainers.
Bob Weasel Fox Posted 27 April 2013 Posted 27 April 2013 Only 1 more game until hopefully we get a better manager
Stuliasz Posted 27 April 2013 Posted 27 April 2013 Only 1 more game until hopefully we get a better manager Who?
chapero82 Posted 27 April 2013 Posted 27 April 2013 Only 1 more game until hopefully we get a better manager I swear you wish you us not to get into the play offs just so NP gets sacked
LCFC_FAN_1995 Posted 27 April 2013 Posted 27 April 2013 Was you saying that when we had a good run? Fair enough, we've had a very bad run but what's the point in sacking him? He knows what we need, stick by him and build on the squad. Only 1 more game until hopefully we get a better manager I'd like to see who you think we can get then? A free manager that is, or realistic one
Bob Weasel Fox Posted 27 April 2013 Posted 27 April 2013 I swear you wish you us not to get into the play offs just so NP gets sacked not at all buddy, i want Leicester to win every game we ever play especially against the Red Scum but just cant see it at the mo. Pearson has had his chance

A free manager that is, or realistic one ive consistently said i hate seeing Leicester City sack any manager (genuinely only ever wanted tater peeler out previously) however NP has had his chance and when we blow it against the Red Scum i think the patience of the owners will finally run out aswell
Happy Fox Posted 27 April 2013 Posted 27 April 2013 The remit was promotion if we don't deliver that he will be gone last chance saloon for NP next Saturday against the RedShite he has to win to keep his job just a bit more longer and if we failed in the playoffs he would be gone anyway pressure is on. Personally for me I want to see us get promotion but I think NP would be so far out of depth at that level he would most likely be sacked even if he got us promotion. But who knows what the future holds.

Sydney the Fox Posted 27 April 2013 Posted 27 April 2013 I think he will be gone if we blow it against the enemy
EnglishOxide Posted 27 April 2013 Posted 27 April 2013 Pearson Out Sorry but he has had his chance So we get another manager. Next season we still don't get promoted, has that manager 'had his chance' and needs to be sacked?
Fox1651 Posted 27 April 2013 Posted 27 April 2013 So we get another manager. Next season we still don't get promoted, has that manager 'had his chance' and needs to be sacked? Not at all, but Pearson hasnt just had one season has he?
Happy Fox Posted 27 April 2013 Posted 27 April 2013 The new man in charge should have at least the same amount of time that Sven and NP have had. Unless of course we are in the relegation zone or look completely inept for a period of 17 games or so.

EnglishOxide Posted 27 April 2013 Posted 27 April 2013 Not at all, but Pearson hasnt just had one season has he? He's had 3 full seasons with us. - Promotion from League 1 - Playoffs (out on penalties) -And this season, with a small chance of playoffs. His current tenure is 1 and a half seasons. For a manager who is CUTTING the squad, wage bill or whatever and looking to build for the future, that is not enough time. Looking at where we were earlier in the season (in terms of league position and performances/results) suggests that we can do that again next season but with improved consistency. For us to change manager every season in anticipation of promotion suggests we are going to spend big every year. We are already in alot of debt. Right now, i would prefer Pearson's methods. Save some money and look to the future. If you are in favour of getting rid of Pearson and getting another manager in (whoever it is will probably cost more than Pearson), then you have to sign much better players too. What will your opinion be on us falling further into debt? We need to cut costs and become sustainable. Signing and sacking managers every season is costly, not just on the pitch but on the financial side aswell.

We are 1 game away from confirming that he has failed on this. No brainer for me. The sad thing is I think he will go on and be a success elsewhere but if he goes can have no complaints as he has failed to deliver.
ADK Posted 28 April 2013 Posted 28 April 2013 It all depends on the unknown quantity that is who is available and willing to take over.
Grewks Posted 28 April 2013 Posted 28 April 2013 I would like to see what NP could do with some real money behind him. Getting rid of danns, beckford, gallagher, wellens, konch, waghorn, vardy, St ledger, and Whitbread in the summer should free up a lot of wages and NP could add 3-4 players which will add something to the first 18, unlike any of the above.

Its highly unlikely with the wages they are on most of them are going anywhere. A new manager who doesn't fall out with everyone may still turn a few of them into success's as they are not all bad players, but our current Neanderthal manager will just continue to fall out and shun some players while favouring others regardless of talent and form. One of the reasons we are were we are.
