Guest Posted 28 April 2013 Posted 28 April 2013 Neil Warnock is actually just about the only sensible shout. 7 promotions with 6 teams they said on Sky the other night. That said, I'd rather keep NP. No to MON - I just can't see it happening like it did before again. Can we not just give a manager a couple of years to build a team without having to chop half the squad every season? Nigel Pearson is our man. .
He's not bald Posted 28 April 2013 Posted 28 April 2013 Why does everyone assume a new manager will do any better the chances are he will change half the team finish mid table and get sacked its the way it goes with leicester. I know lets do something different give a manager some time 3 years plus and then judge him this young side is built for the future whats the point of ripping it apart and not letting them get to the future together. Also earlier in the season january time i remember people saying that we were ahead of schedule being in the automatic promotion places. People thought that it might take 2 seasons earlier in the season and were prepared to wait. Also what right do we have to get promoted we didn't have the best team so we can try again next season. There are probably 10 teams who consider there aim promotion most won't achieve that. Just my opinion. However would like to see someone with lots of championship experience if he was to get sacked, I hate to say it but i wouldn't mind neil warnock Wash your mouth out with soap and water!

Babylon Posted 29 April 2013 Posted 29 April 2013 I would say Danns and SSSL, had they been given a fair chance and run to get match fit would have been more solid. danns gives energy and goals, something our midfield lacks, and SSL is a good experienced defender. Although I have been impressed by Keane, our defence has conceded a lot more goals since he came, we are just a place Fergie has sent him to learn from his mistakes. Also, as much as I don't like him, we started the season preferring a newly acquired non league striker to Beckford who had played for Everton and scored goals in the premier league. While him and Danns may not appear to have been great on loan, don't forget they are playing in a very poor team. SSL has been injured almost all season, and guess what he's been injured again at Millwall. How can you give a crock a chance? Danns had plenty of chances last year and over the course of a season was no better than any of the others we have. Actually we started the season preferring Beckford to Nugent as he started the first 2/3 games, and until he vanished from View Vardy was still ahead of JB's tally from last year. If Beckford had been willing to work to get his place back he'd probably still have been here, but he requested to leave so what can you do. Although I have been impressed by Keane, our defence has conceded a lot more goals since he came The difference is fairly marginal actually. I worked out a week or so ago that we'd only conceded something like 3 goals more in the 22 games he'd played compared to the 22 he hadn't.

yorkie1999 Posted 29 April 2013 Posted 29 April 2013 If NP did go, which i can't see happening because i think he's only part way into building a side fit to go up, i would like to see a young German manager come in that can bring some new ideas on how to get players into a winning mentality.

l444ry Posted 29 April 2013 Posted 29 April 2013 Didn't quite win though did he. Stayed too long. Should have sacked him earlier. Couldn't beat those Russians...

flowwolf Posted 30 April 2013 Posted 30 April 2013 No manager in the clubs history has got away with two wins in 18 games and survived and neither will Pearson. Things are a foot and come what may it's his last game on Saturday.
seenitall Posted 30 April 2013 Posted 30 April 2013 Just as a footnote to this, and I am keeping my distance as I know many of you love and respect Nigel for all he has done for Leicester City - there is a thing about the 50 worst football managers in history somewhere on the net and many of them have better records than Nige post Xmas. I hope for the believers sake (and mine) that if he stays, he returns to the form of the two 5 game runs he had rather than the relegation fodder of the the other 35 so far this season and that we don't end up in a relegation dogfight next season, although to judge by the Nige fans reaction, many were at their happiest being the best team in the third division. Villa showed last night what a 'young and hungry' team look like when the chips are down - we don't have that..............or if we do, Saturday would be a good time for them to turn up

If our young players have the mentality to achieve and be a top flight players in the game, last Friday, Saturday is their opportunity. I'm not holding my breath however... I believe that they are more than happy collecting their £20k (whatever) here & not having to lose their match bonus' in the prem, because they have been benched or worse because they simply are not premiership standard players.

I do think the wages this lot are on is half the problem, there is no motivation to better themselves really
l444ry Posted 30 April 2013 Posted 30 April 2013 I'm not sure he can anymore - he looked at broken man at Sunderland and they were destined for relegation until they had sense to sack him. Now look at them! Quite clearly he struggled to motivate them - exactly the same way Pearson couldn't motivate this side. I say, get someone fresh in, with new ideas. The football under MON at Sunderland was awful, now look at them. Ahem! 6-1. You were saying? Martin's experience with that shower will reinvigorate the man. He's a born winner. Just because, at 61, he doesn't showboat like Di Canio doesn't make him a worse manager than Paolo. Give it a few months and, like Aston Villa, Sunderland could well be looking back with regret at their ludicrous removal of a top class act!

Guest Posted 1 May 2013 Posted 1 May 2013 So you would rather have Colin W@@@er than the messiah? How fvcked up is that? First time round MON was legend. Since then he's won the Scottish league a few times with Celtic. Not exactly an achievement. Since then he's built team at Villa that cost £10smillions when only Young, Milner and Gabby got them anywhere. Sunderland was a complete disaster. I do wonder if football has moved on a little since those heady days with MArtin before. Does he even know anything about the Championship, other teams players or even what players to buy that we could get in this division any more? Colin has done well at almost every club he's been at save for 6 months at Leeds this year. I'm not even sure why so many CIty fans are so Anti to be honest, if we were flying high with a manager having fun with the questions verbally like he does then would we have a problem? I just can't see who on earth there is to replace NP with.
