Deucalion Posted 27 April 2013 Author Posted 27 April 2013 Barcelona............ nice place, weekend enough. Sorrento.......... Very nice , easy boat links to Capri, The Amalfi coast and of course hustle and bustle of Naples with Mount Vesuvious. Istanbul........... exciting with east and west influences, easy to get around with Topki palace and the Blue Mosque. Not forgetting the Spice market a must. Enjoy wherever you go. Cheers !! I don't think we will go to Sorrento because I would like to go there for longer than a few days. I would rather go to Istanbul but I suspect it might be less relaxing than going to Barcelona. Barcelona is cheaper and easier to sort out, plus having beaches in easy reach would be popular with the other half. Still don't know. Anyone else got any nice trips planned?
NewburyFox Posted 27 April 2013 Posted 27 April 2013 Only been to Barcelona, lovely city. Agree with the comment on Sitges too, cheaper to stay there instead of nearer the city centre, and the centre is a little way away you can always get the train in. Barcelona is ideal for a weekend too, although 5 days would be ideal in my opinion.
James. Posted 27 April 2013 Posted 27 April 2013 Istanbul is definitely less relaxing than Barcelona. They're both fantastic cities though, probably my two favourites in Europe apart from London. Istanbul is chaotic, exciting, atmospheric and a melting pot of culture, history and religious influences. Barcelona is more relaxed, with some stunning architecture, buzzing nightlife and that classic Med vibe.
pSinatra Posted 27 April 2013 Posted 27 April 2013 I thought Stiges was a gay resort? It's well gay!! ......but it's cool. I've been with a girlfriend & we had a great time. Might not be the place for a stag-do, but it's not completely OTT. I've been to Provincetown on Cape Cod in the US, or P-Town as it's known locally. It couldn't be more gay if it tried!!
SystonFox Posted 27 April 2013 Posted 27 April 2013 Recently went to barca. Stadium tour is a must I managed to witness a game v Mallorca, 5-0 win Cesc hat trick. Plenty to see and do all touristy. Stay at the TRYP Condal Mar cheaper than any hostel!
Zingari Posted 28 April 2013 Posted 28 April 2013 I can't get that fookin "Istanbul Constantinople" song out of my head now !! Thanks The only consolation is that it's replaced the " Come on a Ma House" one, from the cat food ads !!

Deucalion Posted 28 April 2013 Author Posted 28 April 2013 If you hire a car in Spain, can you drive it in Andorra and France?
Guest Posted 28 April 2013 Posted 28 April 2013 If you hire a car in Spain, can you drive it in Andorra and France? Of course, as long as you have the correct insurance and permission of the car "owners".
Parafox Posted 28 April 2013 Posted 28 April 2013 Went to Barcelona 6 weeks ago and found it a lovely, interesting place. Lots of Gaudi architecture, the Basilica de Familia is absolutely amazing. REALLY!. It was a friendly place, clean, loads of little bars in the side streets, small deli shops dotted around Las Ramblas is where they Catalans do their shopping and promenading. There's a nice evening walk around the harbour next to the Olympic village. There's a spectacular cable car trip across the harbour. The Olympic stadium. Top name shops... Chanel, Versace, and more Of course, the Neucamp. If you decide to go, do the bus tour, one ticket covers three routes and it's very useful to pick out places to go back to see properly. The metro is clean, quick, easy to use and cost 1 euro within the central area. Fantastic old square with the Cathedral and lots of street entertainment. Quick transfer by Aerobus from airport to main square every 20 mins, cost 6 euro. Highly recommend the place.
Deucalion Posted 25 July 2013 Author Posted 25 July 2013 Well...the much needed stress-busting short break goes ahead tomorrow, after a certain Anthony Knockaert so rudely interrupted it previously. Going for four nights in Paris. Any tips?

21st Century Fox Posted 25 July 2013 Posted 25 July 2013 Go to Pere Lachaise Cemetery, it's strangely fascinating, especially on a Sunday when it's quite. It's like a bizarre little town with crypts, tombs and little streets and alleys.
BoneDog Posted 25 July 2013 Posted 25 July 2013 Any tips? If you're going to boil an egg while you're there make sure you pin-pr ick the fat end. Not the pointy end.
