£1,500 for banner at Wembley

Just out of curiosity, has there ever been any recorded incidents of someone getting hurt (or killed?!) by a giant flag/banner?

What annoys me is when football authorities - clubs, Wembley etc. say they want to do all they can to create an atmosphere. Immensely contradictory.

It's like they don't even understand the implications of their actions. I question their intelligence when they say things like that

I remember as a ten year old on the morning of a match that was to be covered on TV me and my mate made one of those banners on poles (an old bed sheet and two canes) and painted "Lineker is brill" on it. Once we were In the ground we realised we were sat next to each other and the banner was 10 feet long. Doh! We couldn't get anyone else to hold it and the stewards wouldn't let us prop it up against the back wall "health and safety waffle waffle" so all you could see was "Li". Could've been worse, we could have been 9 feet apart and had "Lineker is ill".

According to the Dordmand spokes man guy; Wembley has a standing area?!!! Where is it!!!!!

Outside the ground?

Ah, like ours at the KP then too.

"Daniel Lörcher, a Dortmund supporter-liaison officer, said: "It is very sad for our supporters, there are a lot of regulations and it isn't possible to do a good choreography. We won't do a bad one so it's cancelled. In the middle of the standing area there is the VIP area for non-supporters..."

That's the bit I was on about

That is just depressing, why are we so determined to kill football in this country.

Not killing it at all, we're one of the rihest footballing nations on earth.

UEFA family?  lol

UEFA Mafia.

I think the problem here is that atmosphere and crowd participation is still tied up with hooliganism.

Yeah, only in the minds of morons.

No, their views and definition of atmosphere differs greatly from supporters.

They'd much rather have little plastic flags, face paint and small scarves with people clapping along nicely. Basically, no standing, swearing or trouble.

Whereas supporters want to stand, sing their own songs and bring their own equipment, which is frowned upon as we can't be trusted.
