surrifox Posted 6 June 2013 Posted 6 June 2013 "some Sikhs are targeted because they are perceived to be Muslims"... for goodness sake
flowwolf Posted 6 June 2013 Posted 6 June 2013 Pretty proud of them too. They are a model of how to come to this country integrate well live in peace, yet still keep their traditions and culture. Pity other cultures could not do the same.
stevelcfc Posted 6 June 2013 Posted 6 June 2013 Shock, horror, British people are proud of being British!
Guest MattP Posted 6 June 2013 Posted 6 June 2013 They are the perfect example of integration into Britain. Always have been in every way shape and form.
ADK Posted 6 June 2013 Posted 6 June 2013 I love how it gets it's own acronym. I'll have to ask my friends if they have read the latest BSR.
Carl the Llama Posted 6 June 2013 Posted 6 June 2013 Skih and ye shall find. The abominable snownaam?
1964FOX Posted 6 June 2013 Posted 6 June 2013 Just confirms what I have always thought, they are, in general, some of the nicest respectful hard working people I have ever met.

Harry - LCFC Posted 6 June 2013 Posted 6 June 2013 Definately the work of a PR Guru. Keep trying you will get a laugh someday. ...and here it is Not the best I've see but it still had me smiling.
leicester_singh Posted 6 June 2013 Posted 6 June 2013 Wow, didn't expect the percentage of racist incidents to be so high. Intresting stuff.
MooseBreath Posted 6 June 2013 Posted 6 June 2013 Be interesting to see how many of the racist incidents involve white people. I bet it's very few.
flowwolf Posted 6 June 2013 Posted 6 June 2013 ...and here it is Not the best I've see but it still had me smiling. Your right it was good I take it back ADK.
digitalalba Posted 10 June 2013 Posted 10 June 2013 Shock, horror, British people are proud of being British! 94.1% of British Sikhs are interested in Sikh culture and heritage 75% of British Sikhs want to know more about British Sikh history How much is being done in the UK to promote Sikh culture and history by, Sikh organisations - 45% said too little. non-Sikh organisations - 84% said too little The most popular subject that British Sikhs wish to find out more about is Sikh history during the time of the Gurus between 1469 and 1708 (78.3%), closely followed by British Sikh history (75%). 70.5% of British Sikhs want to develop their understanding of spirituality and philosophy. The majority of British Sikhs (81.6%) would like more documentaries about Sikh culture and history, followed by websites (73%) and exhibitions (65.9%). 59.4% of British Sikhs would like to see apps developed for tablet computers and smartphones regarding Sikh culture and history. Most surprisingly, only 58.3% of British Sikhs would want to find out more about Sikh culture and history through Gurdwaras. This would suggest that British Sikhs wish to have a greater connection with Sikh heritage through more mainstream means rather than traditional institutions, and it may also indicate a lower expectation in respect of Gurdwaras being able to sustain an awareness of such heritage. 95% of British Sikhs are proud of being born or living in Britain. 15.6% of respondents self-identify as English Sikhs. Where was the question about English, Scottish, Welsh, N.Irish or British culture? Would there be a questionaire concerning Christians that wouldn't pose questions of their British nationality? Will there come a day when Sikh's, Hindu's and Muslims will be called English or British and not British Sikh? Do they consider themselves English/British first, then Sikh, Hindu, Muslim?
Charl91 Posted 10 June 2013 Posted 10 June 2013 Pretty proud of them too. They are a model of how to come to this country integrate well live in peace, yet still keep their traditions and culture. Pity other cultures could not do the same. I agree with you. Strange.
Fox92 Posted 10 June 2013 Posted 10 June 2013 Some will be ok. Learnt nothing new there. But people form opinions because the actions of the minority/others. That applies to every stereotype in the world, as well... For example, there are people now that still claim to hate Germans, but it was only the actions of a few, and especially the leaders.
MPH Posted 10 June 2013 Posted 10 June 2013 Definately the work of a PR Guru. Keep trying you will get a laugh someday. I genuinely laughed at his joke!
