LCFC FOX Posted 21 March 2014 Posted 21 March 2014 Is it just me or can anyone else tell when they're going to have a game where you're going to dominate possession, have more shots but still lose because you can't score? I even change the tactic completely at half time and I wouldn't score if the other team wasn't there. When I lose I go on a losing streak but if I win I go on a winning streak? This game does my head in.
Haydos Posted 21 March 2014 Posted 21 March 2014 Dem physical stats. Shame about bravery and strength for a dm.
Dan Posted 21 March 2014 Posted 21 March 2014 His bravery stat is ridiculous and that'll hold him back massively for the position he plays I feel. He's one of these who in my opinion, possesses some very good attributes - yet the combination of them doesn't make him effective in any position. Still, worth over £4mil at 17 can only be a good thing for me.
Dan Posted 21 March 2014 Posted 21 March 2014 What the hell is it with me and Marseille away? Three wins away there on the spin. Also just won at Lyon, and hammered Dijon 4-0. 5th after 9 games. Signed John Flanagan for £4.5mil. Quite bizarre to have my big money man as a right back but oh well. He'll be solid for me there for years. Worth it. Also signed a forward off Sporting called Salim Cisse. £900k. Very impressed by him so far and bagged a hat-trick against Dijon. Outsiders for Europe again I reckon.
Brainy Posted 21 March 2014 Posted 21 March 2014 My laptop has died, my save may have gone with it. Not sure whether to laugh or cry
NewburyFox Posted 22 March 2014 Posted 22 March 2014 It's taken me until 2027/28 but Wrexham are finally in the Champions League! Still not won any trophies in my reign though, determined to win my first next season. My laptop has died, my save may have gone with it. Not sure whether to laugh or cry Pray for Walkers
Haydos Posted 22 March 2014 Posted 22 March 2014 My laptop has died, my save may have gone with it. Not sure whether to laugh or cry What's died? If it's the hard drive throw it in the freezer for a few hours and if it boots again after back up as much shit as you can.
DB11 Posted 22 March 2014 Posted 22 March 2014 Oh my god. Has the making to be one of my best ever defenders! Not for Leicester he's not. Jumping reach is shocking, which with the match engine on FM14 will get him nowhere!
Ross-Kemp Posted 23 March 2014 Posted 23 March 2014 Considering starting the British steel challenge. You have to win every available trophy in Britain and Ireland, and you can only sign British and Irish players. 36 trophies in total I believe.
Beliall Posted 23 March 2014 Posted 23 March 2014 Sounds cool. Id start in ireland. Does it include Scotland and wales too?
Ross-Kemp Posted 23 March 2014 Posted 23 March 2014 Yes mate, England, Scotland, Ireland, Northern Ireland and wales. You can start with a team or unemployed but your rep has to be Sunday league.
StanSP Posted 23 March 2014 Posted 23 March 2014 The guy from above is improving a fair bit in my eyes. Stuck him on some tutoring with my best defender in the first-team.
Finnegan Posted 23 March 2014 Posted 23 March 2014 DON'T TUTOR HIM!!! Not unless your other defender has 20 determination! If he doesn't, stop immediately and just give him match practice.
Dan Posted 23 March 2014 Posted 23 March 2014 That's what bugged me about Mejri. No-one could tutor him. I'm bored. We're going nowhere. I've squandered most of my budget on John Flanagan who has been utter crap. Why are the big signings nearly always shit? I've been resisting starting as Leicester on the new update but I have given in. Here we go.
LCFC FOX Posted 23 March 2014 Posted 23 March 2014 The tutor doesn't need good that good determination, The main attribute you want a tutor to have is Leadership. Someone with good leadership tutoring someone with good determination will see a bigger increase.

I've been resisting starting as Leicester on the new update but I have given in. Here we go. Because you make players like Flanagan your big signing? The tutor doesn't need good that good determination, The main attribute you want a tutor to have is Leadership. Someone with good leadership tutoring someone with good determination will see a bigger increase. I'm sorry but this is terrible advice and has been terrible advice for years. The attribute you always want players to pick up the most from a tutor is determination (and any PPMs you fancy.) A student will pull their determination in line to match the tutor, providing their relationship works fairly well. You should never, ever tutor a 20 determination youngster unless it's by a 20 determination senior. Just give him game time and he'll develop. Trust me. If there's one thing I know in FM it's finding and growing regens.
Buzzell Posted 23 March 2014 Posted 23 March 2014 Forget tutoring. Either loan him out or give him game time. That's his best way of learning.
LCFC FOX Posted 23 March 2014 Posted 23 March 2014 What happens if you do tutor a young player when the tutor has lower determination then?
Dan Posted 24 March 2014 Posted 24 March 2014 Because you make players like Flanagan your big signing? A fair point but there is absolutely no way he should be worse than the right back I got rid of, absolutely no way on earth. I only spent a fair bit on him as I didn't really need much strengthening elsewhere and I had a bit of money to play with. I'm convinced there's a hidden motivation stat in this game somewhere. Forget tutoring. Either loan him out or give him game time. That's his best way of learning. Disagree entirely. Loaning out hardly ever works in my experience although I like the way they've improved loans. What happens if you do tutor a young player when the tutor has lower determination then? Their determination drops. Trust me from experience. Finnegan's got it spot on based on what I've seen anyway. Determination shoots up and so does their all-round development. Vardy is a very good tutor now on 14.3 - determination of 17 and work rate of 19. Leicester are still frustrating as hell to manage. I haven't got a clue what my strongest XI is.
Buzzell Posted 24 March 2014 Posted 24 March 2014 Loaning them out can work, it has done for me depending on whether they use them, I always ask them to use them either as key players or for the team, as long as their getting game time. If not, terminate the loan. Whenever I have one really good/talented 17/18 year old, I always have him on the bench, bringing him on in the last 20 minutes so he gets the experience. If I'm playing a weaker team, I will start them.
Finnegan Posted 24 March 2014 Posted 24 March 2014 Forget tutoring. Either loan him out or give him game time. That's his best way of learning. Ugh, this is so massively wrong as well. Tutoring is excellent. Always tutor if you have an appropriate pair of players to teach and learn. It does accompany a stat jump as well as just Det, although Det alone would still be worth it. Poach at 15/16, tutor til 17 and/or a good determination and then start thinking about loaning. Build up a network of feeder clubs in the best leagues you can manage. The best success I've had in stat gain from loans has come from Benfica, Porto and Sporting. Really any big club is good, though, as they'll have the best training facilities and play at a higher level. Don't loan them out where they won't play, mind.
