Watford are a joke

Sorry someone had to say it! They have just signed Iriney from Granada on a season long loan. With FFP they have so far signed;

Manuel Almunia - Free

Uche Ikpeazu - Reading

Lewis McGugan - Forest

Marco Faraoni - Udinese

Christian Battocchio - Udinese

Javi Acuna - Udinese

Daniel Pudil - Granada

Marco Cassetti - Udinese

Lars Ekstrand - Udinese

Iriney - Granada

Ikechi Anya - Granada

Surely something has to be done. A team don't get to the play off final and need 8 new players, or do they???

So 6 of their squad are the same as last year, good little core that.

Whilst you are right to point out that is a lot of new players to fit into the squad.

That list doesn't include the contracted players like:

Deeney

Hogg

Doyley

Bond

Alumina

Nosworthy

Hoban

Forestieri

Murray

Smith

Ok got a little worked up there but my point is that they get their sister club to buy a player from Real Madrid eg J.Acuna then he then gets loaned to Watford. Something has to be done about this otherwise you will get more owners buy multiple clubs around the world

They were with us last season...

The only official signings are

Uche Ikpeazu

Lewis McGugan

We're waiting for official confirmation and approval from the FA/FIFA on the international signings.

As for loaning players - well the clubs had a chance to scrap the whole thing but were content to only reduce it to 5 including ourselves so clubs cannot complain too much now.

Maybe we want players who can turn up when it matters - e.g Leeds and Play-final v Palace.

Even against you we were lucky and didn't played well.

That Ekstrand is a good player, eh super_horns? Seems to read the game well.

Probably our most reliable defender.

Bit of a shame Hoban suffered a long term injury as he is one for the future in defence.

As for FFP in general - we all know teams will find a way around that system.

I am actually a palace fan but have ties to Leicester and go to as many games for both sides. We r a family run club and despite our promotion have spent the majority of our money our falling down stadium and our academy to make more victor Moses and Zaha's.

we were in for Acuna but then lost out to Udinese who have lent him to you. With Leicester having to sell before they can buy I feel Watford have a advantage....

Posted

Maybe so but it didn't help us last season have a strong squad with a lot of quality when it came down to the crunch games.

Who knows how this Acuna will turn out - Championship is a lot different to what he must have faced in Spain.

Fair play to you for showing everyone you don't need to spend big to get promoted.

Leicester were unfortunate that when they did spend a lot of money SGE for example wasted it - we've all been there - us with Vialli for example

Lots of egg on the faces of those saying they'd never get these players back.

Other than Abdi and Vydra (admittedly their two best loanees last season) it looks like they've secured pretty much all of those they'd want to keep.

We can moan all they like but they're acting within the rules. Not within the spirit of the rules, mind.

Watford were excellent in the second half against us at Vicarage Road in the Play-Offs.

There's no way you played like that as a matter of routine last season. I thought you were going to score every time you attacked. With hindsight it would have been an absolute travesty of a result if we'd gone through, we got murdered for 45 minutes.

Who said Abdi hasn't signed, he has played in the friendlies and was present at the training camp in Italy. Plus you have missed Romero

I'm not sticking up for Watford here, but simply playing devils advocate;

Why have Leicester got to sell before we buy?

Because we pissed a load up the wall on shit and now we have to sell to buy.

Watford are admittedly owned by people who own another club and loan players from that other club, but that is the reason they are not in money trouble (Certainly not as much as Leicester) loans simply don't cost as much and gamble free - If they're shite send them back, if they're good, great, don't cost a transfer fee and in some case you don't have to pay 100% wages.

What is more moral? Loaning playing keeping a tight ship, not pissing money away and not getting in debt? OR, spending alot on players, gambling signing those players for alot of money on players who want big wages and getting into debt?

Agree with your points but I feel the smaller teams like crystal palace can't compete. If a player chooses Watford over the premier league side what does that say for football at the moment. Hooper going to QPR over Norwich and Leicesters very own Hobbs who has only just been promoted and is the hull captain, willing to join Forest.

Leicester have made mistakes and have players on huge wages but I still feel owning three clubs and moving players around them is not fair on the family run clubs.

So what are you exactly suggesting be done?

Palace aren't a family run club and neither are Leicester, very few are these days .  What's fair in football these days?  You obviously have an agenda with Watford.  If you want a proper debate why don't' you go on their forum and make your points there?

And we murdered them in the first half of the first leg. The two legs as a whole were pretty much even, hence the scores being aggregately even until the last seconds.

I have done, clearly no research conducted before you made those comments. Crystal palace r run by four life long supporters who have no real wealth compared to the money in football thesr days and all have families, hence the "family run club". I go to watch Leicester alot and would love both clubs to be in prem and the reason I posted on here was because I wanted to see the reaction/opinions to what everyone makes of a rival club using "in my opinion" a loophole to obtain the best players.

Football isn't fair though is it? It isn't a level playing field.

Hull can't compete with Man Utd can they?

As for playing choosing Watford over a premier league side, perhaps they think they'll learn more, gain more experience, be more successful, be a big fish in a small pond,

granted the premier league is the league to be in but perhaps they don't want to jump in at the deep end?

At the end of the day the loophole is there and Watford have exploited it, the option is there for every club in the country. Rightly or Wrongly, Morally or Immorally. (Although I thought a rule had been brought in to stop it now, but obviously not).

We played well in that first half.

They were outstanding in the second half at Vicarage Road.

 So what's the loophole now?

Posted

Maybe it is football jealousy and maybe I am old fashioned and need to move with the times. But the loophole is an owner can own three clubs and use two of them to feed a third club.

Crystal Palace regularly fielded 4 or more academy players in our league games last year and got promoted. Isn't that a good advert for football rather than buying players from abroad???

If Leicester were Watford the Liam Moores and Andy Kings of this world would be forced out.

Watford fielded 8 academy players over the season, the second highest in the division.
