AKCJ Posted 17 July 2013 Posted 17 July 2013 If it's true that Udinese and Granada are signing players and then instanty shipping them out to Watford then thats the loophole that needs to be closed A.S.A.P. Watford are getting quality players while bypassing the FFP regulations and that, in my eyes, is cheating.

Ali Campbell Posted 17 July 2013 Author Posted 17 July 2013 The advantage Watford have over all the other clubs with FFP law is; Watford interested in a player but fee or wages are too high in line with FFP. Buy a player for Udinese and put them on wages of between 30,000-50,000 a week. Loan him to Watford with Udinese paying the wages in full (who is the same man who pays the wages at Watford) You allowed a certain amount of loans in your starting line up every game. so you could have half the outfield players breaching FFP had they transferred to Watfotd directly. Javier Acuna goes from Real Madrid to Watford in a week via Udinese JOB DONE
Super_horns Posted 17 July 2013 Posted 17 July 2013 We probably all fielded more home grown players than most sides in the Premier league which is actually where the problem is if we are talking about youth getting a lack of playing time. Youngsters don't get a chance to perform at the very top level so they don't develop into international class players like they do in Italy/Germany and Spain.
Super_horns Posted 17 July 2013 Posted 17 July 2013 Loan him to Watford with Udinese paying the wages in full (who is the same man who pays the wages at Watford) Udinese are run by the father of our owner... As I said originally many teams will get around FFP - signing sponsorship deals etc. Not right maybe but there aren't many morals in the game.

Majority for less than 10 games, so yeah they are still getting a lack of playing time.
Super_horns Posted 17 July 2013 Posted 17 July 2013 Fair point I guess regarding Sean Murray and Connor Smith - the former spent more time in nightclubs if you believe the allegations and the latter got an injury. Tommie Hoban played in most games before getting injured in early January and Bond might have played 10 or so. I suppose Doyley doesn't count as he has been a 1st team player for 11 years!
LCFC FOX Posted 17 July 2013 Posted 17 July 2013 If Watford produce some wonder kid like Zaha, Hughes, Ince ect would they return the favour and transfer him to Udinese on a free when he's ready to make a step up instead of cashing in from a club like United...?
AKCJ Posted 17 July 2013 Posted 17 July 2013 Why? Joe Bloggs is worth 2m. Leicester and Watford can't afford him. Granada can. Granada buy Bloggs for 2m. Then loan him to Watford. Watford now have a 2m player without it coming out of their balance. This means they can get more players in without having to worry about getting under the 8m target that FFP have set for this season. To me, thats cheating.

Thing is that pretty much all players coming into Watford this season are permanent transfers with players on long contracts and Watford playing their wages. All the players come from one big pool, all have to be accounted for in terms of FFP and all transfers have to be scrutinised and approved by the authorities. Not cheating at all, no loopholes.

Team A bids within its means for player 1 Team B bids beyond its means for player 1, and beyond player 1's proper value, to secure his services. Team A struggles on, unable to compete with Team B as they are unwilling to jeapordize the club's future. Team B goes into administration, debts are written off, and resumes trading. Team B gets promotion to the promised land of mulah, having effectively obtained players, services and facilities valuing, say £30m, for 0p. Team A, quite reasonably, whinge strongly about the situation, Team B is unintersted. Team A struggles on, then gets bought out by Italian Mafiosa types and gets decent players for small outlay. Team B suggest strongly that Team A are not acting entirely above board. Team A, other than registering a note of irony, is uninterested. After having made their point that is! Good luck to you, and good luck to us, we love our clubs and we tend to defend anything that seems to do us good, but it all comes round sooner or later.
The Horse's Mouth Posted 18 July 2013 Posted 18 July 2013 On a serious note, we should stop with these anti-watford threads. We just look obsessive and bitter. We have done the grieving lets move on.

Want to interject here, team B doesn't benefit particularly despite the promotion. Said team were actually dragged down by their debt and endured (enduring) their worst period of success ever. Team B's excessive spending is now going to come to a close but unfortunately there still remains an issue at team A. They should be paying much more than what they are for players of such quality but are instead quite literally being given players - team A may well have gone way over their spending allowance had they played fair and paid what these players are actually worth. Of course all this not having to compete in the transfer market is ok because it's 'sustainable.'
reids Posted 18 July 2013 Posted 18 July 2013 Sorry someone had to say it! They have just signed Iriney from Granada on a season long loan. With FFP they have so far signed; Manuel Almunia - Free Uche Ikpeazu - Reading Lewis McGugan - Forest Marco Faraoni - Udinese Christian Battocchio - Udinese Javi Acuna - Udinese Daniel Pudil - Granada Marco Cassetti - Udinese Lars Ekstrand - Udinese Iriney - Granada Ikechi Anya - Granada Surely something has to be done. A team don't get to the play off final and need 8 new players, or do they??? You missed out Abdi, Romero and Fabbrini. Hilarious that you actually all thought closing the loan "loophole" would be the end of it.
aefevans Posted 18 July 2013 Posted 18 July 2013 Buy a player for Udinese and put them on wages of between 30,000-50,000 a week. An interesting fact is that (as of last season) Antonio Di Natale was on 20k a week and was the highest-paid player out of any of the three clubs.

Because they didn't. Not seeing how you can complain much, our cheating actually damaged us. Surely that's justice? You on the other hand.....

LeicesterFoxFC Posted 19 July 2013 Posted 19 July 2013 I have to agree with this thread, they are absolute cheats and it's a scandal the football league hasn't done more about it. Basically just take a top team for free, gives the rest of the league a massive disadvantage. Just not fair. http://www.watfordfc.com/news/article/130719-eight-signings-909189.aspx
Moosedog Posted 19 July 2013 Posted 19 July 2013 At least they are keeping to the new loan rules, did you honestly believe that it would effect them. All the loanee's from last year have signed permanently except Vydra and he could still return according to Zola, it has been a good transfer window so far Almunia resigned Doyley resigned McGugan 2016 Ikpeazu ? Bond resigned 2016 Abdi 2016 Battocchio 2016 Angella 2018 Fabbrini 2017 Acuna 2016 Faraoni 2018 Cassetti 2014 Pudil 2017 others to sign/have signed Ekstrand Anya Iriney Santos De Silva Romero these are training with Watford

LeicesterFoxFC Posted 19 July 2013 Posted 19 July 2013 To be honest I really couldn't care the names of these players, I just know you've signed quality for free and it's absolutely not fair on everyone else. If you don't get promoted @super horns then something seriously wrong has happened there. That's a mid table EPL team and it's just an outrage it's been allowed to happen. At this rate the Championship will turn into the unpredictable borefest that is the EPL just at a lower standard,

At this rate the Championship will turn into the unpredictable borefest that is the EPL just at a lower standard, Oh, just stop it. Why is it more unfair than having a succession of rich owners chucking money at the 'problem' - the problem being that the owners are clueless and think they can guarantee promotion by giving a blank cheque book to dicks like SGE. We have lucked out in being bought by a family who are very football savvy. WFC are paying all the wages, as they were in 2012/13, and they are very unlikely to be massive. If they choose to invest in us through their player portfolio, rather than bundles of cash, isn't that better for everyone? Agents can't inflate fees or wages.
kingfox Posted 19 July 2013 Posted 19 July 2013 Watford are doing nothing wrong. Last season caused massive arguments, but was it really Watford's fault, not really because there were no rules in place then for the amount of loan signings from abroad. Now the FA or whoever has taken action, they have cut the amount of loan signings down, which is now fair. But right now, these are permanent signings so I see nothing wrong with it, they can do whatever they want, it's not breaking any rules.
