HitchinFox Posted 8 August 2013 Posted 8 August 2013 Fascinating little story about Pascal Chimbonda on BBC website - going from being an unused sub at the 2006 World Cup final to playing in the Northern Premier League Division One South. He thinks he can still play Prem or Championship - would you sign him? Would he be a useful addition to our squad? Personally I don't think so, but I bet somebody will pick him up for this season.... http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/football/23600004
goose2010 Posted 8 August 2013 Posted 8 August 2013 Fair play to him for keeping fit and playing for Free. Personally no i wouldnt take him. surely he could do a job at championship/league 1??
Out Foxed Posted 8 August 2013 Posted 8 August 2013 Always came across as a money grabbing guy with a bad attitude. If that was the case; maybe he should have been a bit more serious and he wouldn't be playing at that level now.
The Horse's Mouth Posted 8 August 2013 Posted 8 August 2013 I was a fan of him, would be a useful squad player if he managed to get back to his best.
Jordan Posted 8 August 2013 Posted 8 August 2013 Edit: wrong thread Anyway, I had totally forgotten about this guy until I read the article this morning.
David Guiza Posted 8 August 2013 Posted 8 August 2013 He was a decent player when he first came to England and then he started to believe his own hype, pretty sure he carried his transfer request in his sock on the final game of the season for Wigan.
Jordan Posted 8 August 2013 Posted 8 August 2013 Haha, I think the transfer-request-in-his-sock thing is either urban legend or a figure of speech, but he did demand a transfer in the dressing room immediately after the match, right?
marko Posted 8 August 2013 Posted 8 August 2013 Haha, I think the transfer-request-in-his-sock thing is either urban legend or a figure of speech, but he did demand a transfer in the dressing room immediately after the match, right? No, it's a true story. Paul Jewell the then Wigan confirmed he handed him a written transfer request and a thank you note in the Highbury dressing room as he was shaking the players' hands. Like others have said, money grabbing charlie who thought he was big time after one season at Wigan. All went downhill after he went to Spurs.
The Doctor Posted 8 August 2013 Posted 8 August 2013 playing at his level now... Don't be ridiculous, he's not world-class but he's far better than the 8th tier.
Banks Posted 9 August 2013 Posted 9 August 2013 League one/ two is his level. Has to be a joke that he thinks he's Premier League standard
AKCJ Posted 9 August 2013 Posted 9 August 2013 He played for Donny in their relegation season and was wank.
Miquel The Work Geordie Posted 9 August 2013 Posted 9 August 2013 Got too big for his boots after a semi-decent season with Wigan.
