I am Rod Hull Posted 3 October 2013 Posted 3 October 2013 You cant make a silk purse out of a sow`s ear.....
Jimothy Posted 3 October 2013 Posted 3 October 2013 You cant make a silk purse out of a sow`s ear..... Nobody expecting them too. They're asking them to rebury him in the rightful place, not the prettiest. If you have another argument in favour of York fair enough, if you going to keep trotting out the same bullshit lines about the beauty of each city, don't bother.

You`re only bumming the Leicester case because its local. Its a tourist attraction/Leicester won somefing against someone to you and nothing more.
Jimothy Posted 3 October 2013 Posted 3 October 2013 Rightful place? where is that? You`re only bumming the Leicester case because its local. Its a tourist attraction to you and nothing more. I've already said, in reply to you, that if this was reversed I would be backing York and given numerous reasons why he should be buried in Leicester that far out weigh your "York is prettier" argument.

Not just prettier more spiritual too. You can cry all you like but burying him in Leicester is fooking cringe worthy.
Jimothy Posted 3 October 2013 Posted 3 October 2013 Not just prettier more spiritual too. You can cry all you like but burying him in Leicester is fooking cringe worthy. Historically, legally, morally he belongs in Leicester, York has no claim, just a lot of shouting based on misinformation. The only place other than the place he was found, which happened to be Leicester, that would be worthy of his burial based in those above reason ( the only ones that really matter) is Westminster abbey. That's full, so the argument is null and void, there's only one place left to bury him, Leicester. And you can accuse me of wanting him here based solely on tourism, but that's simply not true. But tell me why have York laid a claim if it's not tourism? Rather than respect the law, they're decided to disregard it for a quick tourist buck.

I bet if God gave him a day to visit each city and make his choice he`d chose York. Paradigm....
lcfc81 Posted 3 October 2013 Posted 3 October 2013 Not just prettier more spiritual too. You can cry all you like but burying him in Leicester is fooking cringe worthy. As would burying him in York when there is little factual basis to do so, just modern day romantic interpretations of what he would want.Like it or not leicester saw out the last days of the plantagenate dynasty and saw in the first days of the Tudor dynasty as selected by richard iii ( in his decision to meet henry Tudor near leicester when he was on route to London) and henry Tudor (who decided to return to leicester after the battle). Like it or not leicester is the central historical place in this period of time. Although it is nice to use romantic inference there is very little factual basis (that I have been offered and I have discussed this a lot) that richard wanted to be burried in York, now London on the other hand .....
Jimothy Posted 3 October 2013 Posted 3 October 2013 I bet if God gave him a day to visit each city and make his choice he`d chose York. Paradigm.... Back to that argument again. It holds no weight, you haven't got a clue, and for a generally decent poster on this forum, you're posting total crap in this thread and coming across as a bit of an idiot.

Jimothy Posted 3 October 2013 Posted 3 October 2013 London would be fine. Anywhere but Leicester... Anywhere but Leicester would suggest a hidden agenda from yourself, you seem to have a real dislike for the city. I know it's not the greatest, but as I've stated to you too many times than I care to remember, it's not about how pretty you think a city is, or if York has a nice big minister. You aren't discussing this based on the merits of the case and what is legally and morally right and you're just giving you own personal view on how pleasant each place is. Yes York is much nicer than Leicester, there is said it! Does that mean we should ignore history and law and bury Richard III there, does it ****.

I`m just thinking about what Richard would have wanted. You need to be more in touch with your spiritual side.
Jimothy Posted 3 October 2013 Posted 3 October 2013 I`m just thinking about what Richard would have wanted.Nobody knows that, and it would be absolutely ridiculous to bury him somewhere based on speculation. Anyway he lost the war, he doesn't get to choose. The victor chose Leicester, so tough shit if Richard wanted York, he should have fought the war better. You need to be more in touch with your historical side.

Rincewind Posted 3 October 2013 Posted 3 October 2013 If he could see into the future he might have said the 21st century York is better than Leicester bury me there. But he never had a Tardis so never said as far as we know with there being no documents signed by him. York may have been the worst shithole at the time.
I am Rod Hull Posted 3 October 2013 Posted 3 October 2013 Doesn't sound like it to me! Thats because you are blinkered
Smudge Posted 3 October 2013 Posted 3 October 2013 Thats because you are blinkered OMG enough with the horse joke already, oi veh!!!
