Spudulike Posted 4 October 2013 Posted 4 October 2013 I`v defected, I now fly the Westminster banner I am Bill Stanley You might as well give up, then, Rod. Westminster Abbey is totally out of the question, no one has been buried there for over 200 years. It's already been pointed out that it's full and besides, the resting place of his wife, Ann Neville, is long lost. There is no argument to move the remains away from Leicester. History tells us that he was buried in the Leicester Grey Friars; no one has the right to change that.

I`m sure if they found Richard III they can find her

Smudge Posted 4 October 2013 Posted 4 October 2013 I`d like to think that if I was killed in a fight my killer would not have a say in where I was buried ...and no Monarch has ever been buried in Leicester Cathedral. Nor York Minster, apart from Osbald, King of Northumbria. He don't count, Geordie tosser
lcfc81 Posted 4 October 2013 Posted 4 October 2013 I think those for York, Leicester and Westminster should fight it out on Bosworth Field, winner takes the bones home ...Watch out for that Westminster lot... they`ll wait on the sidelines and join in when its nearly over

katieakita Posted 4 October 2013 Posted 4 October 2013 Buried here for over 500 years not dumped in a river like had been thought. Must have been given a burial on consecrated ground so seems wrong to move his remains far. As for living relatives must be millions who can claim a link.
Spudulike Posted 4 October 2013 Posted 4 October 2013 Facts Rod ... this article is factually correct and has been written by somebody that has studied Richard III for over 40 years.
I am Rod Hull Posted 4 October 2013 Posted 4 October 2013 Rod ... this article is factually correct and has been written by somebody that has studied Richard III for over 40 years. Factually correct? are you sure or are you just taking some random blokes word for it because it fits your agenda? Is this bloke the be all and end all of historical fact or like so many historians - not totally correct? ..and lets face it, anyone that champions the Leicester cause will get you lot hard.... Gary Lineker! Kasabian! Nigel Pearson!

The People's Hero Posted 5 October 2013 Posted 5 October 2013 Rod, you're fighting a losing battle, I'm afraid. Unless of course you want to point out the errors in what looks to be a well researched and well written piece?
Rincewind Posted 5 October 2013 Posted 5 October 2013 Rod, you're fighting a losing battle, I'm afraid. Unless of course you want to point out the errors in what looks to be a well researched and well written piece? I'd like to see the PA researched article. He should be buried in York because he had York in his name, we are his descendants and when I saw his ghost which made a special trip from Leicester to York.he told me he wanted to be buried in York. And most importantly York is prettier.
Mr.X Posted 5 October 2013 Posted 5 October 2013 Oops sorry ADK I just unfairly bad mouthed you a while back.
Jimothy Posted 5 October 2013 Posted 5 October 2013 That loser ADK obviously needs to get a life He was adding to rincewind's post about the pathetic reasons the PA have given against Leicester. I like your enthusiasm on this subject, but Jesus, calm down!
Mr.X Posted 5 October 2013 Posted 5 October 2013 ''Richard III's last battle: New 'War of the Roses' over royal emains?''http://edition.cnn.com/2013/09/05/world/europe/richard-iii-last-battle-war-of-the-roses/index.html This battle is being talked about across the world. and when out victory comes the world will be watching!. Long gone are the days when people abroad didnb't know how to pronounce 'Leicester'.
Rincewind Posted 5 October 2013 Posted 5 October 2013 He was adding to rincewind's post about the pathetic reasons the PA have given against Leicester. I like your enthusiasm on this subject, but Jesus, calm down! that reason never occurred to me but I assume ADK was following on in a humourous manner as I picked out the worst parts of their arguments although ATM I cannot think of the valid parts.
ADK Posted 5 October 2013 Posted 5 October 2013 I probably should have added a or something. I've definitely heard people make that argument though.
Smudge Posted 5 October 2013 Posted 5 October 2013 Factually correct? are you sure or are you just taking some random blokes word for it because it fits your agenda? Is this bloke the be all and end all of historical fact or like so many historians - not totally correct? ..and lets face it, anyone that champions the Leicester cause will get you lot hard.... Gary Lineker! Kasabian! Nigel Pearson! Sorry mate but I think the facts are right from what I've read. I assume it was funded in part by the University and City so they should enjoy the spoils of there endeavors. I think that anyone who is interested in the Battle of Bosworth would now have a natural extension to the trip to view his tomb close to where he was buried. Likewise tourists who just want to see the tomb are quite likely to visit Bosworth Field as it's a short distance away. As a historical and tourist attraction, it would flow very well. Anyway I think his ghost is still thereabouts, I used to play dominoes in the Dicky Three on Highcross Street. The bogs were in the back and quite a route march. Usually the fastest pee I could muster since someone I knew, once saw another face in the mirror and he was the only one there. That may not be fact
Spudulike Posted 5 October 2013 Posted 5 October 2013 Right then, Rod. Convinced now or do you need anymore facts ?? Sign the e-petition, you know you want to ... http://epetitions.direct.gov.uk/petitions/39708
Rincewind Posted 5 October 2013 Posted 5 October 2013 32558 What was Yorks total? Even though it should not matter they should still aim for as many as possible.
Spudulike Posted 6 October 2013 Posted 6 October 2013 32558 What was Yorks total? Even though it should not matter they should still aim for as many as possible. The e-petition demanding a York Minster burial is nothing to do with the people of York who, it seems, are getting thoroughly hacked off and embarrassed by those that are using their name for their ridiculous campaign. Most of the ring-leaders come from various places including the US. That e-petition has 31,340 signatures. The Leicester e-petition is currently 32,811 with over 5 days to go. http://epetitions.direct.gov.uk/petitions/39708

The plantagenet alliance know they will get battered in court.
