hackneyfox Posted 19 August 2013 Posted 19 August 2013 Exactly, being a manager at Leicester City will always be a costly affair, because of the so-called "status" of the club and the owners' and fans' aspirations to make it back to the top flight. Which "decent" manager would want to join us for close to nothing? Whether it's fair or not to pay Pearson the (alleged) £1m a year - show me a manager with his track record that comes cheaper. Where did I say we could get a better manager cheaper, I just want a better manager. I'm hoping that Pearson will prove me wrong, he almost did last season before reverting to form.
Monsell1976 Posted 19 August 2013 Posted 19 August 2013 You claim to have no aspirations for the game, then go on about with a rather negative outlook which means to me that you DO have aspirations, after all. Something doesn't add up in that equation. You DO care, even though you want me (and others) make believe that you don't! Whether he has addressed the confidence issue or not remains to be seen - I don't think you can come to a rational conclusion this early into the season, as all or almost all teams are still trying to find their best shape, formation and tactics. At what point did I say I don't care, don't put words into my mouth, I said I hold little hope for the season, anything else is a bonus, of course I care I support leicester, and wouldn't waste my time and money otherwise.Again you are arguing about things you assume and don't know. And to make a point to the formation issue, preseason is a time to work out the formation we are comfortable with, and then the players that suit that formation, then pitch time in that formation to gain understanding amongst the players, and get up to pace and gain confidence, we don't look to have achieved any of that, IN MY OPINION, but I'm sure you will see something in what I have said, that I haven't said to try and have the last word( as usual). Basically vindicating my early points and observation. What you call negative I call realism, and unless the confidence and form is addressed it will IN MY OPINION bite us on the arse.
The Horse's Mouth Posted 19 August 2013 Posted 19 August 2013 we should bring back Sven, we played good football then
hackneyfox Posted 19 August 2013 Posted 19 August 2013 Can we not win games playing great passing football to confident strikers as well as winning games when not playing well. The idea that because we are currently winning games in which we are poor and have 4 more points than at this stage last season is agood thing is strange to me, I'm glad that we have the points but would much sooner we were playing the exciting, precise passing football of early last season, you have much more to pin your hopes on than thinking we can get promoted with 2 goals in every 3 games and something like 5 shots on target.

Points first for me. At least at the moment it seems we can grind out results. We can work on passing and our style gradually throughout the season. I would like us to play like we did in the first half of last season but if we keep on consistently getting points I won't be complaining too much.
DANGEROUS TIGER Posted 19 August 2013 Posted 19 August 2013 I am not going to get embroiled in an argument over Pearson, as I have already stated that I will give him the benefit of doubt until Xmas, when the scenario becomes clearer. The banning of BNET however, I find ridiculous, and unfair to the extreme, though I am not surprised. He was just the one unfortunate enough to fall victim to those who indulge themselves in over protecting Mr. P. from criticism. BNET may not be very subtle in his approach, but he has genuine concerns about our manager, as many of us do. I strongly suspect that if he was posting in the same manner, as a pro Pearson supporter, then no ban would have been forthcoming, Mr Babble-On.. Pretty shabby treatment, in my humble opinion.

I could agree with that had we had wholesale changes in the close season. Apparently not changing the team is a good thing as they are young and will improve, I hope so but there seems little evidence of it yet.

If Mr P could get Nick Powell on loan & James Vaughan in from H/field(4 goals already this season & injury free for the last 6 months ),I reckon we will all be happy come next May !!!
Zingari Posted 19 August 2013 Posted 19 August 2013 Another one with the disparaging remarks aimed at anyone not a fully paid up member of the Pearson Club? flippin heck it was just a joke at the wording of DT'S post .
hackneyfox Posted 19 August 2013 Posted 19 August 2013 flippin heck it was just a joke at the wording of DT'S post . Sorry, I'm feeling a tad berated a la bnet.

I'm sure we would but we were clearly short of that type and quality of player last season and nothing happened.
MC Prussian Posted 19 August 2013 Posted 19 August 2013 You have to play ugly to get anywhere in this league? Is it only a choice of the 2? Do you really think that scoring 2 goals every 3 games will get us promoted? Just how many shots have we had so far? Probably less in 3 games than we did in almost any of our games in the first half of last season. I'm expecting that to get better, I'm hoping that for the moment he's just keeping it tight and that we'll soon start to open up a bit, unfortunately Pearson's track record doesn't fill me with hope. If we keep on amassing seven points every three games, it will. The amount of shots on goal is such a useless statistic - you can pound an opposition's goal as much as you want to - if you can't score at least one more than the opponent it's all for nothing.
MC Prussian Posted 19 August 2013 Posted 19 August 2013 Sorry, I'm feeling a tad berated a la bnet. Don't drag yourself down to the same level, please.

You said you hold no aspirations for this seasons and that (at least to me) means not caring one bit about this campaign. If you can't even recall what you said yourself, then that's not my problem, Monsell. Because what you're now doing is retracting your statement by saying you hold "little" hope - that's not the same as before, is it? Please make your mind up, I'm confused.
Wherethefoxhat? Posted 19 August 2013 Posted 19 August 2013 Don't drag yourself down to the same level, please. A trifle patronising ???

Apparently not changing the team is a good thing as they are young and will improve, I hope so but there seems little evidence of it yet. Well I think it's too early to be looking at evidence so far. Yes we have not been great at all, however we have made a good start nonetheless. I believe and hope that they can improve in addition to getting the points. At the moment, I don't see too much to get really concerned about.

It's ridiculous posts like this that leads to people getting pissed off and abusive, stop twisting people's statements to suit your argument.
Wherethefoxhat? Posted 19 August 2013 Posted 19 August 2013 Vis-Ã -vis whom? Ooops ...there you again !!
MC Prussian Posted 19 August 2013 Posted 19 August 2013 It's ridiculous posts like this that leads to people getting pissed off and abusive, stop twisting people's statements to suit your argument. Why is it ridiculous to ask another member about a statement made that is then retracted and/or denied and put in another context? I can't see me twisting anything here, you can call Monsell's maneuver a twist of his own tail. How about stopping playing the "suppressed" card when people like me aren't agreeing with what's being said or simply ask additional questions?
