Moore & Marks Electrical - Goal Celebration

Haven't seen anything else posted about this, but if it is a repost then feel free to remove.

Anybody else notice Liam Moore's goal celebration and how he kicked the Marks Electrical board? I was watching a stream of it at the time, and was a bit confused at the celebration in all honesty. Didn't realise he put a hole through it, but apparently he's made amends with the guys at Marks Electrical.

Local hero Liam Moore had some explaining to do after opening his senior scoring account at the weekend, then putting the boot in to one of City’s Club Partners!

Lost in the moment while celebrating his first goal for his boyhood team in Saturday’s 2-0 win over Wigan at King Power Stadium, the Foxes Academy graduate kicked a hole in a pitchside advertising board belonging to Leicester-based Marks Electrical.

So to make up for the damage caused by the euphoria of his maiden City goal, Liam, 20, paid a visit to the company’s headquarters on King Richards Road, carrying a prized memento -  their broken ad board, signed by the goalscorer himself.

The England Under-21 international has even offered to pay for a replacement board, which will be in place for Tuesday night’s Sky Bet Championship clash with Blackburn Rovers.

“It was the best moment of my career so far, but I got a bit carried away with the celebrations!†said Barrow-born Liam.

“I didn’t know what to do when I saw the ball hit the net, but it was an incredible feeling and I wanted to show everyone what it meant to me. It was a dream-come-true.

“I know Marks Electrical have been big supporters of the Club for some time so I felt a bit bad about breaking their board, but I think they understood it was all in the moment!â€

Leicester’s market-leader in the electrical and home appliance trade, Marks Electrical have been proud Club Partners since 2006 and have seen Liam develop from Academy prospect into first team regular in recent seasons.

Managing Director Mark Smithson said: “We’re delighted for Liam. There’s nothing better than seeing a local lad come through the Academy and make an impact on the first team and that’s just what he’s done in the last couple of seasons.

“He’s a talented player, a great lad and it was really thoughtful of him to come and see us. Hopefully we’ll see many more goals and great performances from him in a Leicester shirt.â€

Anybody else notice it? Any thoughts? Obviously it's fair play that a young lad who's scored for his childhood team is going to get a bit lost in the moment, but I still think it's a bit odd :P

He let out some adrenaline after scoring - good lad, shows what it means to him and a great bit of extra free advertising for Marks Electrical who wouldn't care as LCFC would replace the board anyway.

Win win all round I say.

Yeah, it's always good to know how much it means to the players :), especially when they're playing for their local club!

I loved his celebration to be honest, a real show of utter joy and triumph.

Pretty much any Leicester fan would react the same way upon scoring for their club.

100% behind his celebration. The kick at the board wasn't in anger. It was just part of the pure elation and passion any of us would have felt if we'd just scored the first goal for the club you've grown up around and supported all your life. Got a bit carried away and he's admitted that, but I'd be surprised if anyone else wouldn't get carried away in the same scenario.

The wheeling run away, the heart symbol (it's good when one of our own does it!), the kiss of the badge, the sliding knee, the kick - I don't blame him one bit for doing those all at once.

So much joy and passion and triumph in it. More of the same, please!

What a ridiculous story. As if Mark's Electrical  would have to pay for a new one anyway! I bet that signed sign could be worth something in the future though as I have a feeling in my bones that Moore will make it to the top and play for England.

There was a 10 second close up on the stream, shown all around the world, probably the best publicity Mark's have ever had. Just a shame nobody in this country saw it , apart from people watching illegally.

He went down today to apologise, and sign a board

Hmmm I wouldn't have known that if I hadn't read the OP.  ;)

My thoughts exactly. He will be in the starting 11 for England within 5 years. Mark my words.

Youth product scores a goal and smashes some advertising in the process. Two birds with one stone.

lol

I was speaking to Mark at a wedding a few weeks back, he'll be absolutely loving the PR he is getting for this.

What he pays to sponsor a stand for a season is pretty dirt cheap as well considering he also gets a box with it.

I'm pretty sure watching a stream of a foreign broadcast isn't illegal.

Wouldn't have been impressed if he'd injured himself kicking it though.
