Bluearmy 316 Posted 18 September 2013 Posted 18 September 2013 Does anyone have any links to the goals from last night they can share cheers
Nick Posted 18 September 2013 Posted 18 September 2013 Goals and highlights on FP so I'm sure they'll be a vid out shortly mate.
Xen Posted 18 September 2013 Posted 18 September 2013 Just been shown on Sky Sports News, so I'm guessing there'll be a vid up soon.
Tedders Posted 18 September 2013 Posted 18 September 2013 not the most in depth highlights but better than nothing...
Zingari Posted 18 September 2013 Posted 18 September 2013 Stunning goal from Dyer and King's pass was inch perfect .Completely split the defence thanks Tedders
Webbo Posted 18 September 2013 Posted 18 September 2013 Dyer's goal was better than it sounded on the radio.
Zingari Posted 18 September 2013 Posted 18 September 2013 Dyer's goal was better than it sounded on the radio. Too right , the finish was really top class . I've had to watch it 4 or 5 times to fully get what a brilliant piece of footwork it was. I didn't see his foot go back at all to shoot . It seemed he just pushed the ball in but with the speed and power of the shot it looks impossible !
Guest Col city fan Posted 18 September 2013 Posted 18 September 2013 Cheers Tedders... Lloyd's goal was beautifully taken. Good to see King with the 'assists' too. Rhodes must be a frustrated player at Blackburn. They are a shite club these days and he's too good for them.
Haydos Posted 18 September 2013 Posted 18 September 2013 From that angle I can see why our penalty was given, he may have kind of come out of it with the ball but it looks like he's chopped right though De Laet. Theirs was just clumsy, went down easily but you expect that, shouldn't be shoving him there.
lcfcliam Posted 18 September 2013 Posted 18 September 2013 Am I the only one who thinks our penalty was stonewall? I don't think he wins the ball at all?
Harry - LCFC Posted 18 September 2013 Posted 18 September 2013 It looks more like a penalty from that angle but I was so sure it wasn't sat in SK1, long way but no players blocking my view, looked like he got the ball.

It doesn't matter if you get the ball when you scythe a player down like that. Stonewall is an understatement.
Tedders Posted 18 September 2013 Posted 18 September 2013 from where i was sat last night it did not look a penalty but the highlights do say otherwise.

Really don't agree with that at all. Kind of implies that you're not allowed to slide tackle. That kind of tackle is going to result in players falling over from time to time, as long as the ball's been won first and in a non-dangerous way I really don't care what happens to the attacker. I think it's ridiculous to expect defenders to totally avoid the player when they go to win the ball in that manner, it just can't be done sometimes.

Of course I'm fine with slides being done in a non-dangerous way - I love to put a hefty challenge in. Wrapping your legs around the attacker's isn't tackling in a non-dangerous way - the other guy has to go to ground in that situation or he risks a nasty injury.
ADK Posted 18 September 2013 Posted 18 September 2013 It looked a bit like the one Whitbread conceded last year. Their player got a foot on the ball but hadn't really done as much as "won" it, then chops de laet down with the other leg.
Guest bss9401 Posted 18 September 2013 Posted 18 September 2013 I agree that if you scythe a player down you will give away a free kick/peno regardless of whether you get the ball. For me also it is a snonewall penalty decision.
Harry - LCFC Posted 18 September 2013 Posted 18 September 2013 Ugh, really hate this use of the word 'stonewall' every time someone thinks it's a penalty. If it really was 'stonewall' there'd be no disputing it because it was a blatant foul. But we've already seen how disputable the decision is. It wasn't a dead cert because he got the ball and brought the man down - it's questionable, these factors have to be weighed up. I personally don't think it is a foul because he gets the ball first (just about I think) in what I think is a safe manner. But I don't say it was "never a penalty" because I nderstand why you'd think it was a foul. Sorry to moan but it's a real pet hate of mine.

I disagree and think it is a clear penalty, if he hadn't used his back leg to bring De Laet down it wouldn't be a pen, but you can't slide in with your legs either side of the player and just take him down, regardless of whether you touch the ball or not. If you look first at the minimal contact with the ball you can see it is still there for RDL to continue, until he then gets taken down. Making contact with the ball doesn't give you license to do what you want, if he had kicked it out of play and then it would be different as what happens to RDL is irrelevant.
