jonthefox Posted 8 October 2013 Posted 8 October 2013 Good move or a bit Di Canio esq?. http://www.theguardian.com/football/2013/oct/07/gus-poyet-new-sunderland-manager
Stadt Posted 8 October 2013 Posted 8 October 2013 One unproven premiership manager for another, I could be wrong but I can't see this ending too well.
Fox92 Posted 8 October 2013 Posted 8 October 2013 Unproven but there's nothing wrong with that. Poyet did a good job at Brighton.
RobHawk Posted 8 October 2013 Posted 8 October 2013 Can't be any worse than Paolo! Can't see them staying up though myself! I think Poyet is a good manager and given time could do well. I just think theirs massive question marks over the squad he's inherited and wonder if he will have time to get things right before its too late!
Kitchandro Posted 8 October 2013 Posted 8 October 2013 Why do Sunderland always struggle? They're a big enough club to be challenging for a top 8 finish from time to time but they're always shit and have loads of crap boring players.
Mack Posted 8 October 2013 Posted 8 October 2013 When Niall Quinn was running the club on behalf of American owner Ellis Short there seemed to be some common sense about they way things were done. However now with Quinn well out of the picture decisions made at board level seem less than rational. I could half understand the Di Canio risk at the end of last season, and he probably bullied them over the line in the end, granted other teams losing was half their reason for survival. However replacing him with Poyet just seems to have no rational thought process behind it, and I'd imagine their fate will be sealed all the faster by his appointment. For me they needed a stable, experienced Premier League Manager to steady the ship and right the wrongs of the Italian lunatic, even if it they would not have flown up the league just getting safe would be an achievement after their start to the season. I fear they are lurching from one crisis to another.
BHAFC Braders Posted 8 October 2013 Posted 8 October 2013 Best of luck to him* * Until he tries to nick players off us.
Super_horns Posted 8 October 2013 Posted 8 October 2013 Best of luck to him* * Until he tries to nick players off us. Given Di Canio brought in so many I am not sure he will be able to buy too many new players. A step up for Poyet - have to see how he reacts to the increased pressure and of course will he get the players on side..
Leicesterpool Posted 8 October 2013 Posted 8 October 2013 I think they should have gone for Gianfranco Zola, managed and played in the premier league.
Super_horns Posted 8 October 2013 Posted 8 October 2013 I think they should have gone for Gianfranco Zola, managed and played in the premier league. I think they were keen but Zola rejected them. Maybe got more to prove?
BHAFC Braders Posted 8 October 2013 Posted 8 October 2013 Braders do you think Bridcutt will be off? Honestly - I can see Bridders going , know Norwich have been keeping tabs on him for a while and so far we've stood firm - but can't see us being able to hold on for much longer.
