Burmesefox Posted 8 November 2013 Posted 8 November 2013 I'm always fearing someone's going to ruin the minute's silence, feels so uncomfortable when it happens. Doesn't help when the morally superior make it worse by trying the shout them down. Best way to react is to say nothing. And as much as the last post a nice thing to have I'm afraid it's too much to ask, it's difficult to keep 30,000 people quiet so it needs to be a simple as possible. Me too. The twats that respond when someone shouts out are just as bad and are just waiting for that moment in their desperation to be seen and heard. Tossers the lot of them.
FreddieFox Posted 8 November 2013 Posted 8 November 2013 I don't personally know anyone that has given their life in action, fighting for their country but the Last Post makes the hairs on the back of my neck stand up nonetheless. I like to chant, cheer and shout the same as the next fan but I just hope the morons who give football a bad name have a day off tomorrow and show some respect. It would be nice for a change if I could hear some silence when expected followed by the biggest cheers after the one minutes silence (let the rivalry begin). Then for once I could feel proud to be a football fan, rather than being stereotyped like the minority of knobheads. There's a time and place for everything!
Jfox Posted 8 November 2013 Posted 8 November 2013 Last year the last post was played and everyone thought that was the minute of silence so cheered at the end and we never actually had a minute silence. In some ways that worked better, everyone can be silent while the last post is played (which is about a minute) and then get on with the game, this will avoid any confusion.

You're right, and the best way to do it (if they insist on the LP & silence) would be to start the minutes silence and before the end, (before the referee blows his whistle,) begin the last post. If it starts before fans have had the chance to roar then it should in theory work better
Carl the Llama Posted 8 November 2013 Posted 8 November 2013 Vaguely on topic: Since the shop I work at is an 'English' shop run by an English family, we've had a poppy box & collection bucket on the cheese counter for the past few weeks aimed at the many English customers we get. Being in Belgium(specifically one of the Flemish townships on the edge of Brussels) we naturally also get a lot of Flemish customers, quite a few of which have come up to the counter interested in showing their solidarity and walking out the shop with their poppy proudly on display(and I don't mean in a "look I'm performing an act of charity" way either, you can tell from the way they ask about it that it actually means something to them). It's touching to know that even though we're getting pretty shit at showing gratitude to veterans as a nation, the descendants of the people on who's land they actually fought and died are still eager to show theirs.
Burmesefox Posted 8 November 2013 Posted 8 November 2013 I managed to come to every home game for three years whilst I went to Uni in Stoke, living off a student loan Around £3K, whilst also paying for a car, food, bills etc. It can be done, it's if you want to or not so stop spouting your nonsense. well done mate - so you lived off 3k a yr? No handouts? No student loan etc? Anyway, the truth is when you get older and have work commitments, family commitments and financial constraints sometimes you will have to pick and chose your games. I've supported since 1981 and bar a couple of years off when my first born was born I have supported as much as possble (most home games and some away). Plenty more out there dont go now but have been better supporters than me. Once you have done 30 odd seasons or more then you know you are a life long fan

I actually think the nation is now more appreciative of the efforts of our soldiers, certainly more so than 10 years or so ago.
The Year Of The Fox Posted 8 November 2013 Posted 8 November 2013 My mates forest ticket showed up today. I was charged 28 for an under 22 in j3. on the ticket it says adult 16 quid?
JonnyBoy Posted 8 November 2013 Posted 8 November 2013 If you're not on the internet and not involved in foxestalk, you're a plastic fan and shouldn't be at the game anyway. tbf my grandad has been supporting Leicester for about 70 years, he is now 83 and gets to games when he can and has no internet access. Plastic fan?? okay....
JonnyBoy Posted 8 November 2013 Posted 8 November 2013 I cannot fathom how anybody can break a minutes silence, even with a skinfull of beer. I literally will never understand. It's a bit like those two girls who have recently been in the news for dressing up as burning twin towers. Boils my blood
Cincinnati Fox Posted 8 November 2013 Posted 8 November 2013 My mates forest ticket showed up today. I was charged 28 for an under 22 in j3. on the ticket it says adult 16 quid? But your 27?
Hugo Sanchez Posted 8 November 2013 Posted 8 November 2013 Just been down and got 3 in sk1. Sold over 30,000 now. I think if they don't sell out today, they will sell them tomorrow till around 2 but not on the gate.
Happy Fox Posted 8 November 2013 Posted 8 November 2013 Over 30K is a fantastic effort considering the club's policy on pricing which is a f**king disgrace.
Tommy G Posted 8 November 2013 Posted 8 November 2013 tbf my grandad has been supporting Leicester for about 70 years, he is now 83 and gets to games when he can and has no internet access. Plastic fan?? okay.... He's actuall;u got an I pad now hasnt he so has got the internet. Daren't show him foxestalk though
Tommy G Posted 8 November 2013 Posted 8 November 2013 But my mates 21? Bit of an ''age off'' going on here Any danger of a ? mark
Guest ttfn Posted 8 November 2013 Posted 8 November 2013 Over 30K is a fantastic effort considering the club's policy on pricing which is a f**king disgrace. The worst thing about the sell out is that it means that the club can suggest (perhaps rightly) that they've got their pricing right...
gazfox9 Posted 8 November 2013 Posted 8 November 2013 The worst thing about the sell out is that it means that the club can suggest (perhaps rightly) that they've got their pricing right... But surely the club want to sell 30k tickets to every home game, not the standard 22k or so they have to previous games this season? Playing well and a it being a local derby has drawn in the peripherals, lets see how many continue to turn up...
harpendenfox Posted 8 November 2013 Posted 8 November 2013 The worst thing about the sell out is that it means that the club can suggest (perhaps rightly) that they've got their pricing right... and with the 16k non season ticket holders contributing just shy of £500,000, it's comforting to know that should pay Gally for another 6 months.
Solihullfox Posted 8 November 2013 Posted 8 November 2013 The worst thing about the sell out is that it means that the club can suggest (perhaps rightly) that they've got their pricing right... And it isn't a sell out yet is it...............there will be around a 100 posts about sell out, how can I get a ticket, couldn't t get through on the phone anyone got a spare...........there are still some tickets left so please let's not have post after post about the sell out, please.
Dan Posted 8 November 2013 Posted 8 November 2013 tbf my grandad has been supporting Leicester for about 70 years, he is now 83 and gets to games when he can and has no internet access. Plastic fan?? okay.... Whoooosh I cannot fathom how anybody can break a minutes silence, even with a skinfull of beer. I literally will never understand. It's a bit like those two girls who have recently been in the news for dressing up as burning twin towers. Boils my blood Me neither. Utter utter stupidity. The irony of Forest fans doing that after all of their INGURLUND chants to us. Embarrassing.
JonnyBoy Posted 8 November 2013 Posted 8 November 2013 He's actuall;u got an I pad now hasnt he so has got the internet. Daren't show him foxestalk though yea i know, but the point is there is so many old fans out there that don't have internet and they won't get an email
JonnyBoy Posted 8 November 2013 Posted 8 November 2013 Whoooosh Me neither. Utter utter stupidity. The irony of Forest fans doing that after all of their INGURLUND chants to us. Embarrassing. they probably don't have the brain cells to know what the minutes silence is for
wattolcfc Posted 8 November 2013 Posted 8 November 2013 JUST booked mine and they said just under 30k sold so far and I'm assuming that includes Forests allocation as they have over 3k sold. So maybe not quite a sell out but a great effort lads!
