Kitchandro Posted 21 November 2013 Posted 21 November 2013 Uruguay were a fine side four years ago. A host getting their should never be a surprise, every game is at home. Turkey I'll give you, still don't know how that happened. Turkey were a good side as well, and got an easy route to the semis. Similarly to Germany that year, they were probably the worst German side in living memory, but made the final luckily. Korea getting to the semis should have been a surprise, hosts or not, but fixing every match proved to be the psychological lift they needed to outclass Portugal, Italy and Spain
Stadt Posted 21 November 2013 Posted 21 November 2013 but we might get a difficult one this time. Hopefully not!
LCFC FOX Posted 22 November 2013 Posted 22 November 2013 Belgium will be the surprise package, no one thinks they are good but they have some good players. Kompany, Mignolet, Lukaku, Hazard, Benteke, Fellaini they are all top premier league players and then they have some other big players. Let's not forget they have our very own De Laet!
The Blur Posted 22 November 2013 Posted 22 November 2013 To be honest I agree. Always bet on an outsider for the world cup and euroa for some reason Outsiders rarely win Euros/WC apart from Greece and Denmark in 92, that is only two outside winners in entire history since 1950s. Can't see the point myself. I think Argies won't win, they haven't been getting good results lately.

Jordan Posted 22 November 2013 Posted 22 November 2013 For those tipping the United States to go on a run, while I like a lot of what Klinsi has done, we're likely going to get a tough group. There are still a few question marks at the back, but keep your eyes on Michael Bradley. He's only gotten better since 2010 and is just so reliable in the midfield. Anyway, I'll also back Brazil. That said, I would hope every other contender watched their Confederations Cup final vs Spain and took notes, because Scolari completely destroyed tiki-taka unlike any Spanish opponent had (almost, but not quite how Bayern rocked Barcelona). Brazil pressed so high up the field, and when they couldn't force the Spanish defenders to misplay the ball, they simply fouled. Cynical as it may be, it was genius: what are Spain going to do with a free kick deep in their half? Play it short just to immediately go back under pressure, or launch the ball forward, where their midget midfielders or Torres (who is so soft) will have no hope of winning a ball in the air?
