Webbo Posted 20 November 2013 Posted 20 November 2013 Can't find the odds for Wales or Scotland? They're just behind San Marino.
Guest Bilo Posted 20 November 2013 Posted 20 November 2013 Winners: Brazil Runners-up: Germany Dark horse: Belgium Surprise Package: Algeria Whipping Boys: Ecuador England: Round of 16
Corky Posted 20 November 2013 Posted 20 November 2013 Brazil. As predictable as Andy Townsend mentioning that foreign keeper looks vulnerable with ball at feet.
Kitchandro Posted 20 November 2013 Posted 20 November 2013 None thinks England then? It's brave to bet against Spain in some ways but I'd say Brazil. They're an improving side as their 3-0 win over Spain suggests. But more importantly, they're at home, and even more importantly, they're Brazil at home. That's a double whammy of favouritism and bias in their corner, FIFA would love them to win it, as would a lot of the neutrals. I wouldn't be surprised if that carried them to glory. I want Italy to go as far as they can as usual but can't see them winning it. They're better than 4 years ago though. Part of me would love to see Messi do a Maradona and completely dominate the tournament and end up winning it for them. I've not watched them in a while so not sure how they've improved from 4 years ago. Germany may well be reaching their peak.

Dan Posted 20 November 2013 Posted 20 November 2013 Germany for me. Going to have a cheeky tenner on Belgium if they are decent odds. Might be too early for them but they have some top players Belgium will not get past the quarters. I rate them, but they're nowhere near ready to win a World Cup in South America. I'd fancy any of Germany, Spain, Brazil, Argentina, Colombia, Holland or Italy to win it over Belgium.

StanSP Posted 20 November 2013 Posted 20 November 2013 Brazil for me. Home advantage to play a part. Spain and Argentina being the nearest challengers. And just for what it's worth, England to struggle to a QF defeat once again.
Finnegan Posted 20 November 2013 Posted 20 November 2013 Also, has anyone other than a South American team ever won in South America? Brazil or Argentina for me, with Germany and Spain flying the flag for Europe. If Argentina can't deliver now, back in South America, with all that attacking talent (albeit with a ropey defense) then the coaches need stringing up in public.

Nope. 1930 - Hosted and won by Uruguay. 1950 - Hosted by Brazil and won by Uruguay. 1962 - Hosted by Chile and won by Brazil. 1970 - Hosted by Mexico and won by Brazil. 1978 - Hosted and won by Argentina. (Though it was a little rigged) 1986 - Hosted by Mexico and won by Argentina. 1994- Hosted by USA (North America but still same confederation as Mexico) and won by Brazil. In fact, 2010 was the first tournament hosted outside of Europe and won by a European team. I can see that ropey defence being Argentina's undoing, especially seeing as Messi has never quite been the same force in international football as he is for Barca.
Finnegan Posted 20 November 2013 Posted 20 November 2013 To be fair to Messi, neither has Aguero, Di Maria, Higuian or anyone else. Argentina have been mystically crap all round the park for years. Maradona as a coach probably didn't help. Argentina should dick on everyone, to be honest, yet they take a bumming like that from the Germans and they huff and puff just to qualify. If they actually turn it on they could and should murder everyone. Especially if everyone doubles up on Messi letting Aguerooooooo off the leash to take liberties.
LCFC FOX Posted 20 November 2013 Posted 20 November 2013 Brazil easily. They will win every game play amazing football
Dan Posted 20 November 2013 Posted 20 November 2013 To be honest I agree. Always bet on an outsider for the world cup and euroa for some reason I can see why people rate Belgium, they're a fantastic side and have developed into one out of absolutely nowhere, but it'll all be a bit new to them for me and I just couldn't picture them getting past Brazil or the Argies. I'll be surprised if it isn't Brazil or Argentina who win it. If Spain win it then this side has got to go down as the best international side of all time for me.

Belgium are woefully short now, fair play to the guys who got on at 250/1 from a few years ago but anyone backing them at a shorter price than Colombia (who ran them ragged in Brussels last week) needs their head examining. Spain and Germany are a genuine threat, Argie and Brazil have to be. Colombia and any other South Americans will be down there.
xHamzah Posted 20 November 2013 Posted 20 November 2013 Brazil, purely because it's their home ground.
blueblood88 Posted 20 November 2013 Posted 20 November 2013 Spain for me, final four of Spain, Brazil, Argentina and Germany. Dark horses, Chile and Portugal. England to crash in group stages.

MC Prussian Posted 20 November 2013 Posted 20 November 2013 Uruguay. Remember 1950. (But in all honesty, I'd surprised if Germany didn't win it this time)
Stadt Posted 20 November 2013 Posted 20 November 2013 I think Italy could surprise everybody and France however erroneous they are they still have quality. But it'll be between Brazil, Spain or Germany.
Leicesterpool Posted 20 November 2013 Posted 20 November 2013 Brazil i think, Spain i actually think are going to go out in the group stages!
