FoxesAreBlue Posted 27 November 2013 Posted 27 November 2013 I think it's just a load of bollocks that the greatest film ever committed to film doesn't even get a mention. Cool Runnings
Zingari Posted 27 November 2013 Posted 27 November 2013 i couldn't see any "carry on" films in that list so it's shite
Trav Le Bleu Posted 29 November 2013 Posted 29 November 2013 116 V for Vendetta!?!?! Seriously? Life of Brian at 166? Star Trek Into Darkness? WTF!!! The Hobbit!!! Clearly a bias to newer films with young people who refuse to watch the old classics. No mention of Jean De Florette, La Dolce Vita, The Seventh Seal. Citizen Kane at 45. Very few comedies (No Naked Gun or Airplane films, NO BLAZING SADDLES - shocking!) Ratatouille is in there ahead of the likes of Shrek, Ice Age and The Incredibles. Don't remember seeing any of the Disney classics in there either. Where's The Right Stuff, JFK, The African Queen? The Avengers in there when the first Iron Man is the pinnicle of the Marvel films and all of Nolan's bilgy Batmans, but not Tim Burton's brilliant first Batman (come to think of it, no Burton at all.) A list compiled by morons for the use of morons.
The Blur Posted 29 November 2013 Posted 29 November 2013 73 Had to laugh at some films who made the list such as The Hobbit which was not bad but not amazing. LOTR trilogy deserve to be list though.
Guest ttfn Posted 29 November 2013 Posted 29 November 2013 I think it's a pretty good list overall. Never going to please everyone.

The list is what it is a list of 'weighted' top rated film by users of IMDb, no more, no less (certainly not a 'Best 250 films of all-time' list). And entertaining films are more likley to be higher than more 'arty' type films due to their ability to divide people's opinions. And as for modern bias, not so sure. In the top 100 there are 31 films made prior to 1970.

Rincewind Posted 30 November 2013 Author Posted 30 November 2013 120.Two stars. Some I was not too sure about but know they have been on TV a few times over the years. The majority of the ones I have seen have been on TV.
johnny the fox Posted 1 December 2013 Posted 1 December 2013 I quite like Goodfellas, but it's much of a muchness where Mafia films are concerned. Like Matt says, Casino is just as good.......because it's very similar. With you on Glengarry Glen Ross. I barely know anyone who has seen it. Criminal. Glengarry Glen Ross ...classic, all top actors in form playing off each other..brill..
