Bluearmy 316 Posted 21 December 2013 Posted 21 December 2013 That was a perfect away performance great team effort Morgan and Moore were rocks. Having a very happy Christmas now. Merry Christmas foxes fans x
Danno Posted 21 December 2013 Posted 21 December 2013 Oh what fun it is to see leicester win away !!!
MooseBreath Posted 21 December 2013 Posted 21 December 2013 Not so much tactical nous as sticking to 442 - by far our strongest formation - and not being tempted to try and shut out the midfield for no good reason. No doubt we'll still get people calling for 31321 or whatever
Strokes Posted 21 December 2013 Posted 21 December 2013 To be fair, he took a gamble today and it went for him. Really good to see an open game.
Tielemans63 Posted 21 December 2013 Posted 21 December 2013 Yeah, great away performance. Fair to say we had fortune on our side but the boys couldn't have done much more. Happy days!
dynamark Posted 21 December 2013 Posted 21 December 2013 Bit lucky at times but stayed on the front foot until a few minutes from the end which made a difference.Vardy didn't look like he wanted to come off but tight calves mentioned on RL.LLoyd looked shot in the last 15 but typical great effort to keep going.Crucial we didn't take the step 5 yards back approach
Kitchandro Posted 21 December 2013 Posted 21 December 2013 I think the team selection was spot on, and we started quite well. There were aspects of today that he should be praised for, and others that annoyed me a bit. On the one hand, we restricted them to few chances and were solid enough at the back. On the other, we were under the cosh for most of the game, though that was partly to do with our poor passing. I do feel taking Vardy off was a mistake unless he was injured, whilst this was the kind of match where Knocky should have gone off. I think we were a bit fortunate, we were under a lot of pressure and for me that doesn't show our tactics were working. A bit of fortune for QPR and it could have been a different story.
foxfanazer Posted 21 December 2013 Posted 21 December 2013 I think he set up today how a lot of teams do when they come to the KP. We always look a threat on the break with Vardy and Dyers pace. We rode our luck at times but we limited them to half chances really. Kasper was great aswell, closed their strikers down and made himself big

Completely disagree. We were playing away at the top side. We were bound to concede some chances. In that second half we restricted them to fook all. In fact it was us that looked like scoring a second today. So credit where credit is due. Hats off to Nige today and THATS the effort Ive been yearning. Absolutely brilliant im really really chuffed with the club today.
cc_star Posted 21 December 2013 Posted 21 December 2013 Thought the 442 was a bit of a gamble, after tending to go for 433 in games we want to keep tight. Yes, I know the 433 is hit and miss for us, but when Shakey was on about the tiny pitch before the game, I assumed NP had decided that the 2 man midfield wouldn't be lost in space and over-ran... Knowing that Dyer and others will cause problems of our own... Typified by having 2 forwards linking up for the goal, rather than only 1 forward in central positions in our 433. Brought GTF on at the right time who did his job well to see out the win
Guest Col city fan Posted 21 December 2013 Posted 21 December 2013 Im also glad that Pearson is favouring James over King in the 4-4-2 at present. As ive said for yonks, hes just more solid. Id keep King fresh for certain fixtures. Today, James was the correct choice imo.
Ric Flair Posted 22 December 2013 Posted 22 December 2013 That was the sort of performance we've witnessed at home in recent years against the likes of Millwall and Sheffield Wednesday. Rode our luck but frustrated them and hit them when it mattered.

It's not chances we gifted them, it was total dominance of the football. I'm not sure letting them pin us in our own half is a tactic we aspire to. Parts of our performance (the crucial parts, I suppose) were executed very well. But I don't think Nigel would have wanted us to hang on to the ball so poorly and give it back to them so quickly.

But I don't think Nigel would have wanted us to hang on to the ball so poorly and give it back to them so quickly. This is the thing. I dont think they did pin us back. We dropped incredibly deep. Deeper than we ever usually do. We let them have the ball in their own half and up to about 40 yards from our goal. We flooded the space inbetween. Every time they tried to force the issue 2nd half, we broke away and looked dangerous. They certainly didnt pin us back and they really did nothing to cause us any concern. The two shameful dives for penalties and Bartons sheet frustration pay testament to that.
Bryn Posted 22 December 2013 Posted 22 December 2013 It's a 4-4-2 but I think a key to it is Nugent's work as the man dropping back into midfield. Vardy, whilst lacking on composure, does a lot more effective running than any of Nuge's previous partners, Waghorn included, and that allows Nugent to use his ample ability in midfield and link the play.
