FoxDownSouth Posted 3 January 2014 Posted 3 January 2014 Been thinking for a while now. About the songs we sing, and the atmosphere. Or lack of. And as a footnote to that. Singin 'Hey Jude' when the teams walk out of the tunnel. Is it just me that thinks that this is tired and generic? Think of liverpool. Singing 'you'll never walk alone' or man city with 'blue moon' and other clubs too. Dont you think they get an emmense sense of pride singing the song associated with there club? And isnt that what makes you love football? Sing songs and make an atmosphere? Pride. Hey Jude (a song I love, by the way) is too generic. Other clubs sing it. We have our own song. Every day before the match I play when your smiling. And it fills me with pride. This could be our 'blue moon'. Yes, I know we are Leicester fans and struggle with the easiest songs. But rome was not built in a day. Neither were those god like clubs with uncountable fans that are seen as the best fans in the country. Dont you want that lable for yourselfs and the club? The players should come out to our song. That all the fans can sing. That we wont share with any other clubs. When You're smiling.

We even had Heroes In Blue and White for a while over the PA system. Nothing now though, nothing that says this is Leicester City, if you get me. Firstly, I think our music should be louder and have more of a build up. Go to other grounds, they tend to include dramatic music before the players emerge. We need something that we can all join in and sing. I do like it going to away games when clubs have their own songs (Leeds 'Marching on Together', Derby 'Steve Bloomers Watching', Liverpool 'You'll Never Walk Alone' etc). I don't like having the man play the post horn gallop either. Should just put something on we can all sing to when the players come out. Get the atmosphere going (or trying to).

I do think we need to record a new version though. The Jersey Budd one certainly isn't acceptable and I'm not sure the older ones are quite right (though they are by far the best in existence). Quick somebody get hold of Englebert before he croaks. Either way it should be something put to the club at some point, I won't hold my breath though.

Captain... Posted 3 January 2014 Posted 3 January 2014 Hey Jude is an awful song, and it gets a half hearted outing and sets the tone for the rest of the match. The risk is WYS will get the same lack lustre response. Been to Bramhall lane a few times and they sing "You fill up my senses" with pride would love to get to that level. I quite like the music they use when showing the highlights, imposing but not dominating, then a quick random blast of Kasabian, can they not afford the rights to play the whole song, then post horn gallop, builds it up nicely then. Naaaa na na nananan naaaaaaaaaaaa, nananan naaaaaaaaaaaa Leicester Horrible.

For the OP to use Liverpool and Man city is really weak of him as we are not comparable as a club or from the social groups that the support is drawn from. It's fair enough what you after but you need to build something, As the mercury did on the MON years hence the balloons ect. Union FS has a good positive approach and may well be able to show the club what could be achieved, and hopefully singing first standing second is there agenda.

The reason it doesnt work for when youre smiling is because nobody knows the words, its just not the right song for it. IMO hey jude works well, everyone does join in and its no worse then the majority of other clubs our size. People expect a bit too much from our crowd sometimes.
