sylofox Posted 17 January 2014 Posted 17 January 2014 Do people forget that Pearson and co. see this guy day in day out at training? If he'd shown any hint of being decent in either training or reserve fixtures then he'd have been in the first team. He warranted a look at Carlisle and versus Derby but suspicions were probably confirmed for Pearson that he wasn't quite up to scratch so he's done the right thing and moved him on. What do people want?! Pearson to give him more chances and more than the 45 minutes just so you can see for yourself what Nigel has seen (that he's not good enough)?! It's like the Futacs debacle all over again.... "Why is he not playing?", "He should give Futacs a chance", "I'd like to see Futcas given a go" (Futacs plays) "Oh right, that's why he wasn't playing. We should get rid" I'd rather Pearson do what's right for the team by picking players that are strong enough and not playing someone just so some of you lot can see that he isn't good enough for yourself. Spot on just like people bang on about giving Waggy a chance and Schlupp. If they really were good enough they would be playing. And if they can't get a game now they have no chance if we go up.

It's not a case of 'us lot' seeing for ourselves. Did I say that I wanted him to playing over the likes of Konch or Schlupp? No. I merely stated that as his move hasn't worked out for him having earned it by playing his trade in the lower leagues. He clearly had something if we signed him in the first place. I have seen him play twice vs Monaco and derby and both times he looked very average so would not want him playing. That said you have to feel sorry for a player who has relocated for a chance on a bigger stage to be rebuffed and packed out on loan to a similar sized club to tranmere. It's not about not being empathetic because the player has less quality. Had he been here for 3 years and done jack all then I could understand that comment but as it is he's new to this level and his looked slightly out of his depth it seems a tad harsh and unfair. It's also completely different to Futacs because it's a different player, different positions and different things to consider(ie game time). Futacs must have had more playing time with a few starts in the cups and being introduced off the bench a few times as well. In short I DO feel bad for him his move hasn't worked out but that DOES NOT necessitate me wanting him to start or even play for us.
LCCFox96 Posted 17 January 2014 Posted 17 January 2014 Spot on just like people bang on about giving Waggy a chance and Schlupp. If they really were good enough they would be playing. And if they can't get a game now they have no chance if we go up. Bearing in mind Schlupp is only 21 and has had trials at united as well as playing over 55 games for us across a variety of positions and filled in well when needed I think that's harsh as well. Young players develop. Who's to say how good he will be by the time he is 23-4. He could then be good enough To start in the premiership but equally may only be league 1 quality. Schlupp has played a fair amount this season as well suggesting he is close to be good enough and has filled in well at left back too (Watford away etc). Players coming off the bench play their role too. Everyone says how good strength in depth is yet you have just said how one of our more frequently used subs is not good enough.
suffolk fox Posted 17 January 2014 Posted 17 January 2014 Rubbish. Vardy looked out of his depth for more than 45 minutes last season, and the likes of nuge and knocky have looked out of depth at times this season. You never know, a loan move for the rest of the season and he may return next year and improved as much as vardy, unlikely....but possible. Don't know which games you have been watching but to suggest Vardy, Nugent, Knockeart have been out of their depths is truly laughable? You obviously did not go to the league cup game against derby. He was shocking kept giving the ball away all the time and was clueless. I won't shed any tears over him when/if he goes.

Chance taken by bringing him in on a free, gets a couple of chances in the team, turns out to not quite be good enough, gets shipped out. Seems pretty similar to me.
Bettsj2 Posted 17 January 2014 Posted 17 January 2014 Why are some people so desperate for him to be given more of a chance? He's looked gash when he's played and we're not exactly struggling. Konch, Schlupp and Miquel are all perfectly fine to play at left back.

No he went for training not trials. He can't hold down a regular place with us and you think that was a trial. Zaha played week in week out for palace yet can't get a sniff at utd. If schlupp was that good he would be in our side and other prem sides would be after him as with Liam. Also If Schlupp can't get a game now if we go up we will add first teamers to our squad pushing him further down the list. He's an ok young player but nothing overly special.
Kitchandro Posted 17 January 2014 Posted 17 January 2014 What is it with us and left backs? From the pointlessness of Baka and Tom Kennedy, to the complete shite of Peter Canero, Alan Rogers, Ryan McGivern and Nicky Platneaur. Have we ever had a good'un? Sheehan?? Sheehan???? Try Berner, Whitlow, Rofe, Nish.
JJS84 Posted 17 January 2014 Posted 17 January 2014 Sheehan???? Try Berner, Whitlow, Rofe, Nish. Pontus kamark?

From the pointlessness of Baka and Tom Kennedy, to the complete shite of Peter Canero, Alan Rogers, Ryan McGivern and Nicky Platneaur. Have we ever had a good'un? Sheehan?? Kennedy did well under Sven before he was offloaded. Thought Canero was more of a right back and McGivern was obviously no full back. However, Patrick van Aanholt was pretty shit here as I recall it...
Foxhateram Posted 17 January 2014 Posted 17 January 2014 http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nils-Eric_Johansson. This guy was the biz! Remember the hola he scored not long before leaving/retiring and him getting all emotional and dedicating it to the fans! Well done nils forever a legend!
LCCFox96 Posted 17 January 2014 Posted 17 January 2014 Chance taken by bringing him in on a free, gets a couple of chances in the team, turns out to not quite be good enough, gets shipped out. Seems pretty similar to me. That's pretty general though. You can't compare a striker to a left back as they are different situations with a difference number of players viaing for positions + likelihood of getting on (more likely to bring on a striker than a left back etc). Futacs had 10 games/appearances. Bakayogo had 1+1/2 games and think he got subbed at Carlisle. Whilst he wasn't brilliant he hardly had a chance in a match situation. Bakayogo was also quite well regarded by fans if his previous teams whereas Portsmouth thought Futacs was crap. He has also gone in an emergency loan deal while Futacs is gone for the season. Clear indication bakayogo may have a part to play if there is an injury to say Konch or Schlupp. I agree with someone further up the post saying he has time on his side with a leicester career which is true. Seems somewhat different to me.
LCCFox96 Posted 17 January 2014 Posted 17 January 2014 No he went for training not trials. He can't hold down a regular place with us and you think that was a trial. Also If Schlupp can't get a game now if we go up we will add first teamers to our squad pushing him further down the list. He's an ok young player but nothing overly special. Training or trials are pretty similar. United wanted to take a look at him and were heavily considering a bid. At which point they declined and he returned and did have a regular run in the side. Yes he has looked poorer this year but a will probably be out on loan anyway. I never said or even alluded to Schlupp being a quality player. You have put words in my mouth there. Zaha is clearly better than Schlupp - probably why he is at united and Schlupp is with us. He's a young lad who COULD be a good player for us. It matter how you develop not how you are as a youngster. A few loan spells and a run in the side and schlupp could be good enough or we could call quits on him and move him on. You can't make that judgement in him yet. Also IF we go up and strengthen in any position, chances are they will be of real quality and most will be pushed down the pecking order. Needless to say one will be schlupp. But is he ready for high end championship/low end premiership football yet? No probably not. Could he be? Yes there is a chance. Too early to call.
Libertine Dream Posted 18 January 2014 Posted 18 January 2014 The deal for Schlupp to go Man United was all but done, Konchesky got injured so he came back, Fergie retired and it all fell through

Far Post Gerry Posted 18 January 2014 Posted 18 January 2014 Sheehan???? Try Berner, Whitlow, Rofe, Nish. There you go, I knew I was forgetting a few. The memory's not what it was, but disappointed I forgot Berner and Whitlow.
MGLCFC Posted 18 January 2014 Posted 18 January 2014 PSG to Yeovil - some fall from grace. Bakayoga was a gamble worth taking. He fit the mould, quick, hard working and I think the coaching staff were hoping to improve him as a player defensively. This has happened and I can see no real future at LCFC for the lad. Wish him well, but he may only ever be a decent L1 player.
ROB-THE-BLUE Posted 18 January 2014 Posted 18 January 2014 Well he came off injured today so he'll be back with us on Monday!
