Fox42 Posted 18 January 2014 Posted 18 January 2014 Anyone noticed the manner in which we convert our chances? This year it's all about passing and movement all the way and beating the defence and the last man until we're clear on goal. We seem to take less chances further out of the 18 yard box and it has been a rarity that we've scored any goals 20+ yards out, comparing it to seasons before and we wern't afraid to have a pop and more we'd have scored a worldie every few months or so. I think this shows signs of being patient on the ball and unselfishness, whereas many say scoring from far out shows confidence. It's great to see that we're significantly playing more as a team and we're putting trust on everyone when they're with the ball instead of hitting it from far out and hoping for the best but being clinical.

I would say this is more down to our ability to break teams down by playing the right ball and being ruthless than our shooting ability. We create a lot more chances this season so our conversion rate probably isn't a lot different i would guess (If anyone can post facts) Today was easily the biggest smash and grab we have managed this season, even at QPR we created 3/4 chances
Stadt Posted 18 January 2014 Posted 18 January 2014 We've definitely been more patient this season, we don't seem to shoot from further than 25 yards out. Although it's nice for us to score a few worldies I'm not bothered as long as we're winning .

LCFC FOX Posted 18 January 2014 Posted 18 January 2014 I'm just waiting for a KONCHESKIIIIIIIIIIII moment
Fox92 Posted 18 January 2014 Posted 18 January 2014 We score different types of goals. A lot have seen to come around the six yard box, but we've had a few goals from distance. It's good to see. I don't feel that we're not going to have a chance. Even in games where we've had to come back from behind I been fairly confident. I remember the Birmingham game and thinking it's only a matter of time before we score to get back into the game. Link up play has been better than previous years. Vardy and Nugent seem to have a good understanding. Even today, Phillips' dummy for Nugent's goal was a good example of that teamwork and understanding, and I do believe any other striker at the club would have controlled it and not let Nuge get the ball. Drinkwater and James keep the ball so well in midfield, it's a joy to watch. A lot of their play is short as well which I like. We're creating more chances, especially when Drinkwater in particular is on form. The only aspect of our game I'd like to see improve is goals from corners.
ktfox59 Posted 18 January 2014 Posted 18 January 2014 tbh and I am not joking, for me, todays goal was one of the best of the season. yes I know most here will think I am smoking some seriously good gear, but its the kind of goal ive been waiting for all season. one crafted by two quality strikers seemingly in tune. looking forward to more.
KFS Posted 18 January 2014 Posted 18 January 2014 There's a Matty James pearler on the way, mark my words.
Fox92 Posted 18 January 2014 Posted 18 January 2014 There's a Matty James pearler on the way, mark my words. He was unlucky today. Initially thought it was in. But yeah, he does have a decent shot on him. Can remember the Preston fan on here confirming it when we signed him.
