I've still got what it takes, says 'Zimmer frame' Kev

Delighted for the guy. I'm not normally keen on old timers looking for a last payday but with Phillips you know you'll get 100% effort, 100% attitude and something worth having. Inspired signing and already well justified as I was sure it would be.

Kevin Phillips makes me feel safe

Exactly, just like we got with Chris Powell. There's certain characters that are worth their weight in gold.

KP has already paid us back for earning us 4 extra valuable points. (with his dummy for nugent against leeds)

not only that but i think having a gap that goes into double digits is psycologically draining for chasing teams to look at.

If KP never scored again for us i would still say he was a success

Im sure he will pop up with a couple more goals before end of the season :)

other than wages, he's cost nothing, so I agree already justifying his signing

good movement at Leeds to help free up space for Nuge to score and scored against bournemouth, so already played his part in us picking up two wins from drawing positions this season, so plus 4 points, great start from grandad

While it seems some players are past it and are after one last pay day you get the impression with Philips that he loves the game so much he is just desperate to keep playing. He's right, age shouldn't matter, and it's obvious he's looked after himself which has allowed him to stay fit and prolong his career.

Totally agree..obviously not as fast as he used to be,but his experience makes up for that.

His zimmer celebration was hilarious..shows great character,he clearly knows that some question if he's too old..that celebration shows maturity and a great sense of humour, not a bad thing to have in team.

Whatever happens this season and if he retires,I'd be happy if he was to stay in a coaching role.

I think Nigel's signings this year have been excellent; I think he's learnt from last season especially. The signings of Taylor-Fletcher, Phillips and Hammond provide the squad with that bit of experience; players that have been and done it before. This can only be good for the younger players.

In that recent Telegraph interview, Nige highlighted how big these three players are in the dressing room. I think these signings have been vital and somewhat coy, regardless of how many playing minutes they get.

I'm lucky enough to go to the same gym as Kevin Phillips.

A couple of weeks ago I had a really good chat with him about Leicester City. He told me he saw us play against Derby and just knew he had to come and play here - he said he was so impressed, and was so desperate to sign for us after seeing how good we are. Even at his age, he just wants to get fit and play as many games as possible.

He's always in the gym, sauna, pool etc on his days off, has been for years. Shows how much he looks after himself outside of his club's training regime. He is the ulitimate pro. Young players should see him as a role model.

Made up for him getting the winner on Saturday.
