The Doctor Posted 8 February 2014 Posted 8 February 2014 People can have whatever perceptions they like. However according to FIFA you can only be given offside when you touch the ball. If you dont touch the ball you ain't interfering. The only exception to this is when a player is chasing a long ball on his own with no prospect of the defender getting there 1st. It would be a little galling to wait for him to run 30 yards and then give offside. see http://www.fifa.com/mm/document/worldfootball/clubfootball/01/37/04/27/interpretation_law11_en.pdf Untrue - interfering with play is more than just touching the ball: for instance if they deliberately block off a defender to give a chasing (onside) striker a couple of yards advantage, that is interfering with play.

Rincewind Posted 9 February 2014 Posted 9 February 2014 Never mentioned the first goal being offside did they on the TV?
Bob Weasel Fox Posted 9 February 2014 Posted 9 February 2014 Not sure about the goal but he was all over the place for the next 10 mins. I was directly in line with 2 decisions that he got wrongCorrect Albert he was dreadful IMO at least during that period you are referring to but generally anyway
MattGamble92 Posted 9 February 2014 Posted 9 February 2014 He got the goal decision spot on. I sit in the other end so I was going on the reaction of the kop (who you can actually hear when they start moaning) for the other decisions. Cannot believe the reaction of our supporters (and the Radio Leicester commentators) if he got the other decisions correct too.
One Legged Beaver Posted 9 February 2014 Posted 9 February 2014 Can't really complain in the end, he got the big decisions correct. Although it's an outrage that a decision would go against us anyway. After all we're above the law from what I've heard.
Harry - LCFC Posted 9 February 2014 Posted 9 February 2014 Awful quality but tried to slow it down to the point where the ball leaves Deeney's foot. Looks like he might be just past De Laet, not quite past Wasilewski? The fuzzy blur really isn't helpful tbh. Either way I don't think you can blame the linesman on this one.
foxes_rule1978 Posted 9 February 2014 Posted 9 February 2014 Hard decision for the linesman to make, I'm a believer in giving the attacker the benefit, so he made the right decision... It was difficult and I was watching on the tele in the Kop which included a replay and still difficult to tell. It was a fortunate goal though, has the cross was a poor shot

Based on that it looks pretty difficult to argue. Looks like he's timed his run perfectly.
harpendenfox Posted 9 February 2014 Posted 9 February 2014 Brilliant shot Harry. You have to say with the benefit of hindsight that was a great goal. Our defence a tad static though. Makes the abuse given to the lino by some in thekop look a bit sad.
Mike the Metal Ed Posted 9 February 2014 Posted 9 February 2014 It's a lot tighter than it looked at the match, but inconclusive. Forestieri covered a lot of ground so quickly that any set of home fans would scream offside. He still looks off to me, but I can see why the lino would let him through.

As Alan Young has said before "if they are on the pitch then they are interfering with play"
65RosesFox Posted 15 February 2014 Posted 15 February 2014 Just played it back in slow motion to have a good luck. At worst he's level. Wasyl's right leg is playing him on. It's clear to see by looking at the distance of the two players from the darker shade square of grass. Also I think a lot of fans were saying the linesman wasn't in line with the play. He looks perfectly in line to me. Credit where credit is due, good call 'assistant referee'
DANGEROUS TIGER Posted 16 February 2014 Posted 16 February 2014 Looks to have been onside to me. Perfect timing on the run, but very close.
red5 Posted 16 February 2014 Posted 16 February 2014 Look at the players, all ball watching, woeful defending, we need a manager who knows a bit about how to defend
