Lionator Posted 8 February 2014 Posted 8 February 2014 Thought some of the abuse he was getting was uncalled for today. Although it looked offside at the time, the first goal was the correct decision. Being in the East Stand I thought he got all of the other offsides correct, to the law book anyway. The one that infuriated most of the Kop where Forrestieri was offside but didn't interfere with play and Tozser ran through was also correct in my eyes. However, I may be wrong. I'd like to hear some other opinions...
Bayfox Posted 8 February 2014 Posted 8 February 2014 Not seen the goal again so can't comment. But your right on the other point. The player pulled up and didn't go for the ball the player who did was onside. However on the goal he looked about 30 yards behind the play. Will see what tv shows later.
Thefoxman Posted 8 February 2014 Posted 8 February 2014 He was shocking! however not seen the highlights yet so there maybe need for an apology later
Craig Posted 8 February 2014 Posted 8 February 2014 I think the goal was just onside from the brief look on SSN. Wasyl playing him on.
davieG Posted 8 February 2014 Posted 8 February 2014 You may well be correct but I'd say he got lucky with those decisions if that's case because from sitting not far behind him it was clear to see he regularly was behind the play and seem to be daydreaming/losing focus on the game and ended up looking down the line well after the play had taken place. I wasn't abusing him in any way but I can't say i was impressed by his performance.
DennisNedry Posted 8 February 2014 Posted 8 February 2014 Well I need to see a replay for the first goal, but from the half way line it looked 2 yards offside. The one that got the whole crowd on their feet wasn't offside, because the player in an offside position wasn't interfering with play.
bluesbrothers Posted 8 February 2014 Posted 8 February 2014 Gotta agree, bit of a witch-hunt for the lino in my eyes. The first goal looked onside to me from the other side of the ground, so I don't see where people are coming from (and RL shit-stirring yet again can't have helped.)That being said, the ref's handling of Watford's time-wasting and injury feigning was shocking. At least two of their players, in Anya and Forestieri, wasted enough time to warrant two yellow cars, and their number 19 was throwing his toys out of the pram and getting in his ear the whole game, which should have warranted a booking. Meanwhile, Vardy and Konchesky got yellows for 50-50 challenges and wanting to get on with the game.Factor in Almunia's goal kick antics (the biggest timewaster in this division behind the odious Paddy F***ing Kenny) and every facet of their cynical performance was clearly set up to abuse every loophole they could. Disgraceful, but then bending the rules has never been below Udinese B. It saddens me really, because in honesty I was impressed with their defensive work and tracking back against our offence - but when that's overshadowed by blatant borderline cheating at every oppurtunity, it means sweet eff all. Referees need to stop ignoring such tactics and book the culprits - no nonsense. In Forestieri's case, he was already booked when subbed and then took more than a minute to leave the field, to apoplecy from the Kop. In an ideal world, he should have received his second yellow, been sent off and the substitution rendered void.No nonsense - it's a pathetic cancer eating away at the game and needs stamping out. Holding the ball in the corner flag to run down the clock is fine - deliberately holding up the game to do so is not. The only saving grace is that the pricks' actions gave us enough added time to get the vital equaliser - but even 5 minutes understated just how much time Watford spent pretending to be hurt, nursing goal kicks, kicking the ball away for our set pieces or dawdling on their own - closer to 10 minutes in the second half alone.
Jfox Posted 8 February 2014 Posted 8 February 2014 Both linesmen did nothing wrong in my opinion. The ref should have booked Almunia for time wasting and gave a few petty fouls but was okay.
Stadt Posted 8 February 2014 Posted 8 February 2014 Made me laugh how the Watford players fouled ours and went down.
Grewks Posted 8 February 2014 Posted 8 February 2014 already posted in another thread. Lino got everything spot on....our fans are just moronic at times.

The Doctor Posted 8 February 2014 Posted 8 February 2014 our fans are just moronic at times. Pot, meet kettle.
Guest ttfn Posted 8 February 2014 Posted 8 February 2014 Made me laugh how the Watford players fouled ours and went down. Once or twice would have been funny. But it happened 4 or 5 times. It seemed to be a tactic.
Yojoe36 Posted 8 February 2014 Posted 8 February 2014 Made me laugh how the Watford players fouled ours and went down. Or when we were penalised for a 50/50 high boot and their player held the wrong leg
Guest foxestalkisfullofidiots Posted 8 February 2014 Posted 8 February 2014 People have different perceptions on what interfering with play consists of, I would say Forestieri was interfering with play.....I don't think there is anything wrong with getting on the officials backs, couple of dodgy decisions gets the crowd going.
Thracian Posted 8 February 2014 Posted 8 February 2014 Seemed to me too that the linesman got it right, lucky or not. Fans are biased anyway and always will be but I gather the radio commentators weren't too complimentary either and perhaps need to eat some humble pie and apologise. Admittedly their first goal was a tight one and not easy for any linesman to judge with certainty. But even level is onside and the striker was so damn close to level - and going at great pace - that I doubt any linesman could have flagged with certainty for offside and that, to me, is the yardstick. Officials should give what they see for certain, not what they guess might have happened. .
MooseBreath Posted 8 February 2014 Posted 8 February 2014 watched a stream which showed 4 replays of their first goal, none from a good angle, but it looked way offside in every one
Ozwin Posted 8 February 2014 Posted 8 February 2014 If I received that amount of abuse I think I'd break down there and then. It was relentless.
Mack Posted 8 February 2014 Posted 8 February 2014 I think some of our players getting into the lino probably encouraged the situation. It takes a good few looks at the replays to figure out the Watford goals were fine, the linesman had one split second to make his decision and it seems he made the right one. It was not possible from where I sit to make any comment on whether the decisions was right or wrong, you just cant see enough from the opposite end of the pitch, although that didn't stop some around me!

People can have whatever perceptions they like. However according to FIFA you can only be given offside when you touch the ball. If you dont touch the ball you ain't interfering. The only exception to this is when a player is chasing a long ball on his own with no prospect of the defender getting there 1st. It would be a little galling to wait for him to run 30 yards and then give offside. see http://www.fifa.com/mm/document/worldfootball/clubfootball/01/37/04/27/interpretation_law11_en.pdf
Lionator Posted 8 February 2014 Author Posted 8 February 2014 Listening to Radio Leicester on the way home p***** me off with Young screaming incompetence at the linesman yet then saying that the linesman should be shot. If that's not incompetent of a Radio pundit then I don't know what is. Double standards.
Albert Posted 8 February 2014 Posted 8 February 2014 Not sure about the goal but he was all over the place for the next 10 mins. I was directly in line with 2 decisions that he got wrong
Deucalion Posted 8 February 2014 Posted 8 February 2014 Hangy on a minute. Does it matter whether he got it right or wrong? The point is, make him scared to give a decision against us. That's the whole point of the crowd bullying the officials.
