foxes1988 Posted 24 February 2014 Posted 24 February 2014 Guess who is top of the Championship five year table. I bet if Cardiff hadn't of gone up last year they would be above us though. http://www.statto.com/football/stats/england/league-championship/all-time-table/5-year Just shows that we have done pretty well since our return from the Abyss.
sylofox Posted 24 February 2014 Posted 24 February 2014 It does look good. I nearly did not come in here as it looked like one of them. The average pts for promotion is and for the league are. Type shite threads we get every other day.
Guest ttfn Posted 24 February 2014 Posted 24 February 2014 It makes me wonder how we'll cope as a fan base if we go up. We've become so used to winning - perhaps more so than anyone outside of the top 5 or 6 in the premier league over the last 5 years.

If we're not top 4 by the time the October International break comes around
Steven Posted 24 February 2014 Posted 24 February 2014 Pearson out! If we're not top 4 by the time the October International break comes around Damn right. Peter Taylor has set the standard.
foxes1988 Posted 24 February 2014 Author Posted 24 February 2014 I do think there is a degree of arrogance amongst some of our fans. We seem to expect to beat everyone when playing at home.

Hungry Hungry Fox Posted 24 February 2014 Posted 24 February 2014 Will be interesting if we go up as expectation levels will be low. We nearly always seem to perform better when we are the underdogs
Mark 'expert' Lawrenson Posted 24 February 2014 Posted 24 February 2014 I do think there is a degree of arrogance amongst some of our fans. We seem to expect to beat everyone when playing at home. This is understandable this season as we have done so well, I don't believe any right minded fan would expect to beat everyone at home in the Prem.

We seem to expect to beat everyone when playing at home. That comes with our form and current league position, though. I can remember a time between late 03 and 08 where we'd expect the opposition to be better than us, and I can personally remember attending games without any confidence in our management and players at all. Expectations change, don't they. I mean, we're top of the league so that in itself defines people's expectations regardless of the opposition. You know, Ipswich are a good solid side challenging for a play off place, we beat them 3-0 which is a good solid scoreline, yet people seem to want more. It's going to happen. People who know their football know about the opposition, some people without knowing too much about the opposition might expect a Leicester City win because Leicester City are top of the division.

I think should we go up there are a hardcore of fans who will be realistic in their approach and expectations. In the PL a 17th place finish would be just the ticket (in the first season) and is realistic. As in the championship a minimum of playoffs is realistic. Most fans will see that. However in the PL we can expect a 6000-7000 additional fans onto the average of around 23,000 and it will be these who get on the fans back should we go up and struggle. Needless to say it will be these who promptly f**k off again post relegation. These are the people who rarely go now and listen in or just watch when we are on tv but magically become available every Saturday afternoon when/if PL football comes to town.
Filbert_Ross Posted 24 February 2014 Posted 24 February 2014 Can't see Yeovil getting to play them games in hand.
C-man Posted 24 February 2014 Posted 24 February 2014 So are we consistently almost good or just massive bottlers?
gerrytaggart Posted 24 February 2014 Posted 24 February 2014 On a points per game basis that table has us sitting in 10th with newcastle as run away leaders.
promised land Posted 24 February 2014 Posted 24 February 2014 Guess who is top of the Championship five year table. Just shows that we have done pretty well since our return from the Abyss. Go to the full records and we sit 2nd behind Barnsley, or 10 year we're 3rd behind Ipswich and Cardiff. Quite surprised Barnsley make it top in the full records though, Loughborough are even down there in 90th spot!
