chili_con_carne Posted 24 February 2014 Posted 24 February 2014 Not making excuses for us doing so well - but even before the season started I was looking at all the squads and didn't fear anyone but qpr, wigan and maybe forest pre season. FFP may have done us a favour as other clubs are spending less while we had a good settled squad and manager. And every team that has come to the king power - other than Burnley and forest - have never really worried us at all. bizarre. Also the 3 relegated clubs from last season's premiership have had pretty poor seasons so far. Not putting a downer on things but got to look at the bigger picture sometimes. It is an easier league than previous seasons. No denying that.

No doubt a lot of fans will say it's the best league in championship history and leicester are top so we are the best club in the world Agree with your post.

It is an easier league than previous seasons. No denying that. Well, yes there is actually. Considering Dull got promoted on 79 points having lost 15 games.
Guest MattP Posted 24 February 2014 Posted 24 February 2014 Not for me. The points total of the top clubs will exceed last seasons and we have the FA Cup winners with pretty much the same squad sat at the bottom of the play offs. On paper the QPR side is probably the best ever assembled for this division and certainly the most expensive. Forest have spent, Derby and Burnley have fantastic youngsters and a settled side, Wigan and Reading I think would have been challenging last year. We have a settled team, a brilliant manager, some solid professionals and some of the finest young players I have seen at the club for a long long time and who are only going to get better. It's a great time to be a City fan and I have no idea why anyone would look for negatives in a season like this, just sit back and enjoy it. Seasons like this are why you sit through years of utter shite before it.

Babs, Points from previous seasons mean NOTHING I don't get why people are going on about points and how many games lost... The quality of the teams the last few seasons are probably better than this season
Babylon Posted 24 February 2014 Posted 24 February 2014 Babs, Points from previous seasons mean NOTHING I don't get why people are going on about points and how many games lost... The quality of the teams the last few seasons are probably better than this season Right, so you take away one of the only factors you can even use to gauge this type of thing... what exactly are you judging it on? Because at the end of last year the majority of people on this board were bitching and moaning about missing out on our best chance, and that the league would be much harder again this year. The league has gained three teams in Reading, Wigan and QPR who had very good squads and were tipped by the majority to do well. Whilst having Forest spending cash left right and centre. Brighton, Blackburn, Watford, Bolton all well backed financially. The bottom few teams may well be poorer, but i'm not sure how anyone could say the top 8 are any better or worse than last year.
Sampson Posted 24 February 2014 Posted 24 February 2014 People have said this every season for about the past 10 years.
Soar Fox Posted 24 February 2014 Posted 24 February 2014 Babs, Points from previous seasons mean NOTHING I don't get why people are going on about points and how many games lost... The quality of the teams the last few seasons are probably better than this season No chance. Even last seasons teams were poorer than this years. If we had the same amount of points now at this stage last season we would have needed another 8 points from 14 games to go up automatically.
foxfanazer Posted 24 February 2014 Posted 24 February 2014 And there was me thinking we were good. I feel stupid!
pSinatra Posted 24 February 2014 Posted 24 February 2014 Not for me. Seasons like this are why you sit through years of utter shite before it. Not for me either. This is quite clearly an excellent squad of players with a quality Manager. We deserve to be where we are & we would have been several points clear last season......or any other season.
chili_con_carne Posted 24 February 2014 Author Posted 24 February 2014 We are good! This is the best Leicester team in years but how anyone can say this is a strong league this season is mad.
foxfanazer Posted 24 February 2014 Posted 24 February 2014 We are good! This is the best Leicester team in years but how anyone can say this is a strong league this season is mad.because you say so
Guest MattP Posted 24 February 2014 Posted 24 February 2014 We are good! This is the best Leicester team in years but how anyone can say this is a strong league this season is mad. Go and tell a QPR fan that watching a club with a 70million wage bill try and get out of it with players like Zamora, Murphy, Benayoun and SWP in the reserves..
Hungry Hungry Fox Posted 24 February 2014 Posted 24 February 2014 We are good! This is the best Leicester team in years but how anyone can say this is a strong league this season is mad. This is your opinion and you're entitled to it, but that's all it isYou have been posting some ridiculous threads lately
chili_con_carne Posted 24 February 2014 Author Posted 24 February 2014 The fact Burnley and derby are 2nd and 3rd says a lot about the great quality of the league this season! Two clubs who pretty much fail every season.
Stan Posted 24 February 2014 Posted 24 February 2014 I think the overall quality has been about the same for the past 10 years. We just happen to be miles better than the rest of the division this season
Mark_w Posted 24 February 2014 Posted 24 February 2014 People have said this every season for about the past 10 years. And it's really, really, dull.
Babylon Posted 24 February 2014 Posted 24 February 2014 We are good! This is the best Leicester team in years but how anyone can say this is a strong league this season is mad. And how exactly can you say it's not as strong as last year? What are you basing this on, from what I can tell it's because no teams have really been better than us.... well that generally happens when you are the best team in the league, in fact it happens to someone every single year. Can you not see the futility of your post? The fact Burnley and derby are 2nd and 3rd says a lot about the great quality of the league this season! Two clubs who pretty much fail every season. Brilliant logic, stunning.
artursteppe Posted 24 February 2014 Posted 24 February 2014 I watched a fair bit of Norwich and Spurs, and Newcastle and Villa at the week end. I do not want to get carried away, but were any of them really that good? None of them will get relegated this season either! So much to look forward to!
foxfanazer Posted 24 February 2014 Posted 24 February 2014 How good do you think Cardiff were last season? Just a nothing thread
LcFc_Smiv Posted 24 February 2014 Posted 24 February 2014 Different tune to the start of the season when everyone was banging on about it being the toughest in years. Why do there have to be negatives? why can't we ever just be good? enough people out there doubting us for our own fans to start!
chili_con_carne Posted 24 February 2014 Author Posted 24 February 2014 And how exactly can you say it's not as strong as last year? Can you not see the futility of your post? Brilliant logic, stunning. So why are Burnley and derby second and third?
cc_star Posted 24 February 2014 Posted 24 February 2014 It's strong & competitive, it always is The 3 relegated sides not running away with it kinda shows the strength of the division, in previous years sides from League 1 have been near the top too I'd say we're much better than Cardiff last season, and far far better than Hull were (at the time) I'd say we're as good a team as the Reading/Southampton promotion winning sides of a couple of years ago The OP smacks a bit of our ability to downtalk ourselves
Guest MattP Posted 24 February 2014 Posted 24 February 2014 So why are Burnley and derby second and third? Because they have talented players and a settled XI? Bit similar to the team who is first.
foxfanazer Posted 24 February 2014 Posted 24 February 2014 So why are Burnley and derby second and third?because they've been the second and third best teams genius
