Is the championship an easier league this season?

A lot of people are still waiting for Burnley to implode and sink to mid-table.

I don't think many Leicester fans are naive enough to wait for that now. Best side we've played this year and I certainly can't see it happening.

As for the league being easier...come on really?!? Every year there are 1) crap sides, 2) mid table inconsistent sides and 3) there a top, consistent sides. Previously we have fallen into 2) but now we are 3). This is due to NP and his team getting things right and the players delivering week in week out. Nothing else. The opposition quality is exactly the same as it ever has been or will be.

I think Babs suggested Burnley were about to implode? Not that he's naive or anything.

I thought he said they weren't going to catch us, rather than implode.

Its easier for us

I think Bolton fans might suggest it is harder

I guess it comes down to what you define as easier, last season there was 12 points between relegation and play offs, every team realistically could beat each other

This season the top sides (bar the odd random result) have all had long consistent spells where they have shown to be auto contenders

so is it harder to get promoted when a) every team drops points and the bottom is closer to the top

or b) when you have to be consistently getting results to stay at the top

if you think the answer is A then I suggest you have another think

Foreigner influx thankfully means the likes of Jimmy Willis only play in league two now!!! lol

I was thinking Gary Coatsworth, no quality but bags of bravado, swagger  and GTF out of the way about him.

Any suggestion that the league is significantly weaker than last year is wrong. We've lost a lucky a Cardiff side, a Hull side that lost 15 games and a Palace side who's form towards the end of last season was about as good as ours. They've been replaced with the most expensive second tier squad I've ever seen and the FA cup holders

Errrr no I didn't, I said I believed their form would mean they wouldn't catch us. And that the form of Derby and Forest would mean they caught them, clearly Forests injuries have put pay to their chance. But Derby's form over the second part of the season had been better than Burnleys, who pulled in a larger number of points in the first half thanks to their great start.

As I stated at the time, there is a reason we have pulled ahead of Burnley an Derby have caught them.

I very much hope Burnley get promoted with us rather than them, that have rallied well the last 4 games after getting too many draws. I certainly didn't see the QPR meltdown coming!!!

For the first time I really don't feel threatened by any team in the Championship.

Last couple of season's, I'd look at some teams and think, they look dangerous, they will easily beat us. This season I don't really see that with any teams, even the likes of QPR, they aren't particularly great rely on Austin or struggle basically. Burnley with Ings and Vokes of course have done incredibly well this season, but looking at the rest of Burnley their players are just Championship quality, apart from Trippier, Shackell, Ings and Vokes I think the rest of that squad would have a torrid time in the Prem. Wigan another good side, have done mediocre so far, but wouldn't surprise me if they sneak into the play-offs. The rest have all got decent players here and there, but none strike me as dangerous.

Not for me. It's the same as most years - set up in the summer to be 'the strongest one yet' but its fizzled out into an 'OK' league. Nothing outstanding but not too bad either.

Taking a bit of a different spin.... If this league is so much easier then why are we seeing the likes of Holt, Emnes and Ngog moving to Prem. We might see them as bizarre, even senseless transfers, but it's happening. Roger Johnson to West Ham! I admit, these players are not 1st choice in the prem but last time I checked, Emnes wasn't even first choice at Middlesborough.

If anything, I think this league is getting harder. More and more clubs have money, strong academies, good managers and dare I say better players!

In terms of examples, I look at Burnley: A very hard-working team with a very strong 11 that play well together. Danny Ings the wonder kid and Sam Vokes the target man. Simple. However, if Ings gets an injury then you'd expect Burnley to drop

QPR, proving for the second year in a row that you can't buy results. Leicester, Burnley, even Forest, have a great team ethic. QPR have mediocre individuals who think they're too good for the league. Don't be surprised that they're failing. Oh and their manager is just a big ego

As for Wigan, well, I don't think they were particulary brilliant in the Prem and it was mostly due to an excellent manager (Martinez) that they survived so long. Also, they did lose a couple of their key players (Kone&McCarthy). Europa league wouldn't have helped either.

I'd justify why Leicester are where they are in the league, but I'm sure we all know that lol

I thought that this year they'd be a lot of teams challenging for promotion, teams like QPR, Reading, Wigan, Watford,Forest, Bolton and probably others which shows that we're having a great season and others teams are doing poorly.

This season should have been harder than most but the 'better' teams haven't turned up.

I honestly don't think any Championship season we've been part of has been easy. Certainly not this season. We know by now that we can't take any team in the league lightly. We've had some difficult games against crap teams as well as against the best teams in the past and we've also had some hard fought draws and victories. It's not like other teams ignore how well we are doing at the moment because they will be analysing our strengths and weaknesses, thinking of how they will stop us from winning games. It is fair to say that we are the team to beat in the league right now.

Sorry, I'm not very technically adept like what you are so can't put up a previous post, but I thought you said that Burnley were 'gone' in a post? Apologies if it was someone else..

They are looking as strong as ever to be fair.

I think we all expected more of qpr, wigan and maybe bolton.

But to say it's easy is wrong. Look at wigan since they changed manager, fa cup run, decent league form. Harry has really messed up at qpr. Needed the pearson treatment. If you dont want. Get rid.

Fword and reading also have decent squads.

Ok yeovil and a handful of other clubs were always gonna struggle.

But maybe just maybe the best 2 MANAGED clubs are top 2 for a reason.

Errr yes in a thread about QPR and Burnley the result in that match and who would catch us. Have Burnley caught us then?

As for your last point form over first third and second third says a different story.

But hey, if you want to go around posting your shit in every thread flip flop knock yourself out.

The big thing of the Championship is the marathon season. There's nothing else like it in the world. 46 games is some season. It's not easy.

There's been no dominant relegated team this year like Newcastle but it's due to hit the record books for points required to get promotion. That may be down to the gap between league 1 being bigger than ever; there was no *big team* coming up. We had Yeovil, Bournemouth and Doncaster.
