Corky Posted 24 February 2014 Posted 24 February 2014 Nigel ****ing Pearson. Careful davie, with that sort of language you might be refused entry into the Mixed Respect Zone.
Spudulike Posted 24 February 2014 Posted 24 February 2014 As an aside, if I was proud of our ground it would have to be Freemen's Wharf. Very unique and cool. Yep, that's it.... but should it have an apostrophe ??
inckley fox Posted 24 February 2014 Posted 24 February 2014 Raw Dykes or Freeman's Wharf should be what it's called. I agree completely. The official name of Filbert Street was 'The City Stadium' for many years, but it made no difference. Sometimes I'm disappointed by fans settling for KP or Walkers. Filbert Way would suit me fine too.

Gold Coast Fox Posted 24 February 2014 Posted 24 February 2014 Since i was a kid, i've called it the 'holiday home' because it seems to be where i spend the most of my time when in England. Can't remember ever calling it 'Walkers stadium'
LCCFox96 Posted 24 February 2014 Posted 24 February 2014 King Power > Walkers A stadium named after a food brand sounds crappy. King Power also shows some appreciation and loyalty from the fans towards the Thai owners
MooseBreath Posted 24 February 2014 Posted 24 February 2014 Walkers. King Power sounds too much like it was thought up by foreigners who couldn't speak very good English, and just put 2 words together which they thought sounded cool. Which I suspect is very close to the truth. The King part of it certainly has a bit more meaning than that, but Power is probably as you say. Then again Walkers I presume is just somebody's name. Neither name is great. I couldn't really care less.

Bayfox Posted 24 February 2014 Posted 24 February 2014 Should be filbert way. But habit still sees me call it the walkers. Not fussed that the owners changed it to kp. As it's just not filbert st. However what is a souless bowl lost all it's appeal when they ripped down our heroes and replaced them with blank banners. Whatever our ground is called it's a shame the owners don't honour our history a little more.

I'm happy to have LEICESTER CITY FOOTBALL CLUB back over the Kop rather than a faded banner that makes us look stuck in the past. The ones outside the ground weren't too bad, but the ones inside looked completely naff.

Jace Posted 24 February 2014 Posted 24 February 2014 I quite like the facelift banners thought they made a good improvement the originals were good too but were looking very worn by the time they came down
Leicester City Gentry Posted 24 February 2014 Posted 24 February 2014 It wouldn't be right to call it Filbert Way - it doesn't feel right to want to bring back 'Filbert' into the name. Filbert Street was Filbert Street - end of. I am warming to the King Power or KP, but personally prefered the Walkers because at least it has something to do with the city's industry / heritage. Not a fan of Freeman's Wharf (too long) and Raw Dykes would get too many laughs. Personally I would just settle for 'Burnmoor' - the groud is on the end of Burnmoor and people would feel the conenction with Filbert Street.
Bayfox Posted 24 February 2014 Posted 24 February 2014 I quite like the facelift banners thought they made a good improvement the originals were good too but were looking very worn by the time they came down Thats as maybe but it wouldn't have hurt to print king power over images of lineker, banks, walsh, claridge, elliott etc. We don't have to live in 1979 like them up the road, but I liked the images of old players and historic moments. It was a subtle way of reminding people.

Filbert Street was Filbert Street - end of. Agree with that and for the same reason can't, won't, call the South Stand the 'Kop'. The Kop was at Filbert Street, this isn't the Kop. If Freemen's Wharf is too long then 'Freemen's' or the 'Wharf' is pretty unique.
Lineker's Left Foot Posted 24 February 2014 Posted 24 February 2014 Christ things must be boring, I like 'Power of the King Walkers'
Winnershfox Posted 24 February 2014 Posted 24 February 2014 King Power. After all they have pumped all the dough in !!!. They can call it what they like. How about Top Park!
Danizen Posted 24 February 2014 Posted 24 February 2014 In 11 and a half years, I don't think I've ever called it the Walkers Stadium or The King Power Stadium. It's always 'The City' or 'The Ground'. I don't mind it being called The King Power Stadium and definitely prefer that over The Walkers but I do wish they'd get rid of those fvcking sponsorship sheets outside the ground (obviously replace it with some cladding or something because bare terracing wouldn't look much better).
Arriba Los Zorros Posted 25 February 2014 Posted 25 February 2014 King Power, just because it has become a fortress since the name change
