Corky Posted 25 February 2014 Posted 25 February 2014 Would quite like things to stay as they are come the end of the season, the ENGLISH Premier League would see Magath, OGS and Poyet get relegated, Pearson, Dyche and Mclaren get promoted. Hopefully we will see and end to this obsession that anyone with a foreign name and likes to pass it a bit is automatically going to be great. If Poyet stays up and Pepe Mel and West Brom get relegated then just as happy. If that happens and barring any more sackings there would be 14 british managers of which 9 English, I think there were only 6 at the start of the season Rodgers Sherwood Moyes Pardew Allardyce Bruce Monk Lambert Hughton Hughes Pulis Pearson Dyche Mclaren Hughton is Irish.
Jace Posted 25 February 2014 Posted 25 February 2014 If their owners want more luck why not change their colour to another lucky colour again instead?
Fez of Mahrez Posted 25 February 2014 Posted 25 February 2014 was it Thracian who suggested sacking Nige and bringing Solshy in? Before that he was obsessed with Paul Ince. Glad he's not in charge!
Sharpe's Fox Posted 25 February 2014 Posted 25 February 2014 Hughton is Irish. As just about as Irish as Mick McCarthy. He was born and raised near London.
Strokes Posted 25 February 2014 Posted 25 February 2014 Serves Cardiff right, they are a joke and fully deserve the clown at the helm. I would love to see them slip through the leagues.
Bayfox Posted 25 February 2014 Posted 25 February 2014 Not a suprise. Clubs a joke with tan in charge. Only sad bit is, I like ogs but why oh why take that job.
MooseBreath Posted 26 February 2014 Posted 26 February 2014 it was always a risky appointment, a young manager with next to no experience who was supposed to come in and add youth, style and flair when what they probably really needed was an experienced hand and an injection of grit and determination, or ideally not sacking malky in the first place. Can't see Solksjaer rescuing it from here so it's just a matter of time before he goes. Top/Vichai take note, this is how not to do it.
Jon the Hat Posted 26 February 2014 Posted 26 February 2014 Hopefully Top and Vichai are sensible enough to realise that spending the next few seasons staving off relegation is about the best we can expect if we do go up. You have to wonder what happens if thy give Big Nige £50-100M to spend though and we are still lower end of the table.
Uncle Albert Posted 26 February 2014 Posted 26 February 2014 Has anyone who played under Ferguson and then become a manager ever won a trophy with a Premier League side or achieved anything else other than promotion? Serious question.
Wem ber lee Posted 28 February 2014 Posted 28 February 2014 It's a shame that so many Cardiff fans continued to attend after the colour change. If they felt that strongly against it they should have voted with their feet and stopped going to matches. With that said if our owners changed our colour to 'fosse gold' or changed the name of the club to the King Power foxes, would we all vote with our feet? I would.
MC Prussian Posted 28 February 2014 Posted 28 February 2014 Has anyone who played under Ferguson and then become a manager ever won a trophy with a Premier League side or achieved anything else other than promotion? Serious question. Players-turned-managers or managers will never achieve anything with a single club if they're only given limited time by the owners and/or the fans.

Serious question.Laurent blanc, is the only credible answer i can think of. I know its not the premier league but his record in france is excellent.

Vacamion Posted 28 February 2014 Posted 28 February 2014 Has anyone who played under Ferguson and then become a manager ever won a trophy with a Premier League side or achieved anything else other than promotion? Serious question. Not sure this is fair on Solskaer. He's only been there 5 minutes at a terribly run club. That said, we can all look at Bryan Robson, Roy Keane and Paul Ince (and from his time at Aberdeen, Fatty McGhee & Willie Miller) and see that working under him was no guarantee of achievement. I wonder who the most sucessful "manager of managers" is - Clough guided MON, but he also managed Roy Keane.

Managed Dalgleish,Toshack and Keegan who all went on to be successful managers
Vacamion Posted 28 February 2014 Posted 28 February 2014 Bob Paisley? Aha, but is that because Dalglish skews the figures, though?
