Merging Cultures Posted 4 March 2014 Posted 4 March 2014 A teenager armed with guns and explosives planned to repeat the Columbine massacre by carrying out a terror attack on his former school, a cinema and a mosque, a court has heard. Michael Piggin, who was 16 at the time, was found to have at his home petrol bombs, air rifles, pistols and armour, which he planned to use against staff and pupils at school in Loughborough, Leicestershire, it is alleged. http://www.theguardian.com/uk-news/2014/mar/04/british-teenager-michael-piggin-planned-new-columbine-massacre It's great to see the police catch him before he could do anything. They must have been involved in tracking the weapons to have caught him. I wonder how the courts will consider his aspergers.
Lionator Posted 4 March 2014 Posted 4 March 2014 This is a retrial btw. Be very interesting to see the outcome.
Buce Posted 4 March 2014 Posted 4 March 2014 This is a retrial btw. Be very interesting to see the outcome. I'm glad you said that - I thought I was going mad. What was the conclusion in the first trial?
Merging Cultures Posted 4 March 2014 Author Posted 4 March 2014 I wonder why the article doesn't mention it was a retrial. What happened the first time?

Buce Posted 4 March 2014 Posted 4 March 2014 Freak. Gas himIt's disturbing that people like you can sit on a jury.In fact, it's disturbing that people like you exist.
LCFC1996 Posted 4 March 2014 Posted 4 March 2014 I was at school with the guy, sat next to him for 4 years, I don't think anybody would have thought anything close to this was possible. Freaked me out a bit when it first broke.

Freaked me out a bit when it first broke. I can't imagine. It's scary to think about what people are capable of. Especially when they are sick. Was he living at home? If so I wonder where he was able to hide all his stuff. Very sad.

If so I wonder where he was able to hide all his stuff. Very sad. Yeah he lived with his mum, as far as every one knows just in his room. As you say it's a very sad case. At Limehurst he was just your normal teenage lad, played football, had a laugh. Once he got to Burleigh he started to isolate himself more from the people he used to hang around with.
Danno Posted 4 March 2014 Posted 4 March 2014 It's disturbing that people like you can sit on a jury. In fact, it's disturbing that people like you exist. Yeah, as opposed to people who plan to kill schools full of children. Thanks for your contribution.
ADK Posted 4 March 2014 Posted 4 March 2014 I'd give him rehabilitation, the good thing about the case is he didn't actually do any of that stuff.
Buce Posted 4 March 2014 Posted 4 March 2014 Yeah, as opposed to people who plan to kill schools full of children. Thanks for your contribution. And your contribution? Without hearing the evidence, you have, A) decided his guilt. B) the reason for his guilt (ie. he's a 'freak'). C) the sentence (the death penalty). Retard.
Merging Cultures Posted 4 March 2014 Author Posted 4 March 2014 I'd give him rehabilitation, the good thing about the case is he didn't actually do any of that stuff. He didn't kill anyone. However, he did commit crimes. Obtained weapons, terrorist materials and plotted to kill people. So, in my opinion he should serve time, in some form, for those crimes. It shouldn't be in a traditional prison though.

Lionator Posted 4 March 2014 Posted 4 March 2014 I'm glad you said that - I thought I was going mad. What was the conclusion in the first trial? Jury couldn't reach a majority.

Rincewind Posted 1 June 2014 Posted 1 June 2014 It was hard to prove that it was his intention to commit a crime. A wierd lad but that is all. Still could keep an eye on him secretely for the time being.

You can't be suggesting a government monitors the phon calls and computers of its own citizens, are you?

To be fair if he can't even make his Facebook profile completely private then it shouldn't be too hard for British security services to keep tabs on him: https://www.facebook.com/michael.piggin.35?fref=ts Looks like just another weird, little boy struggling to come to terms with his insignificance and insecurities (see Elliot Rodger).
