The Year Of The Fox Posted 12 March 2014 Posted 12 March 2014 Vardy is on 15 now for the season I believe? Nuge is on 19? With 12 to play and given Vardy's current record its very possible both strikers could break the 20 goal barrier. When was the last time we had two 20 goal a season strikers? Its incredible this could be on the cards given we've been crying out for ONE 20 goal a season striker for years! Keep it up the both of you!

AdamN Posted 12 March 2014 Posted 12 March 2014 Not only that but I didn't realise Nugent was on 13 assists, too. That's pretty damn good going! http://www.football-league.co.uk/page/Assists/0,,10794~201310274~7,00.html It says Vardy is on 5 but it also says he's on 13 goals, so I don't think it has been updated at the time of this post. So really he should be on 6.
Guest kristianity77 Posted 12 March 2014 Posted 12 March 2014 First time since 02/03 Dickov/Deane. Deane got 20 goals in that season? Are you sure? I know Dickov managed it but I don't think Deane did. I could be mistaken though EDIT: Just checked, Deane didnt get 20 so we need to look further back than that for 2x20 goals a season. I cant actually remember it being done since I've been following City since the early 90s
Mark_w Posted 12 March 2014 Posted 12 March 2014 Deane got 20 goals in that season? Are you sure? I know Dickov managed it but I don't think Deane did. I could be mistaken though Don't think Dickov did it in the league. Deane certainly didn't do it, I'd be surprised if he got twenty goals for Leicester let alone twenty in a season.
The Doctor Posted 12 March 2014 Posted 12 March 2014 First time since 02/03 Dickov/Deane. Nope. Deane scored 13.
HEGGSY Posted 12 March 2014 Posted 12 March 2014 Dickov scored 17 league and 3 cup goals Deane scored 13 league Dunno about cup actually
Guest kristianity77 Posted 12 March 2014 Posted 12 March 2014 Dickov scored 17 league and 3 cup goals Deane scored 13 league and 6 cup goals Deane didn't do that in one season though
HEGGSY Posted 12 March 2014 Posted 12 March 2014 Deane didn't do that in one season thoughYeah I know confused myself
Fox92 Posted 12 March 2014 Posted 12 March 2014 I know Deane didn't score 20. I wasn't referring to that. I meant, we now have to strikers that actually both score us goals. Sorry for the confusion.
Dan Posted 12 March 2014 Posted 12 March 2014 So they've already beaten Dickov & Deane? That's amazing really.
Guest kristianity77 Posted 12 March 2014 Posted 12 March 2014 I've had a look back now until the 60s, and the only time its happened from then, is if you include cup goals, and that was 1965/66 - Derek Dougan and Jackie Sinclair. If you take cup goals out of that season we fell one short (Dougan only got 19 league goals)
davieG Posted 12 March 2014 Posted 12 March 2014 Lineker - http://www.foxestalk.co.uk/forums/page/playerdetails.php?pid=509 Smith - http://www.foxestalk.co.uk/forums/page/playerdetails.php?pid=394
Guest kristianity77 Posted 12 March 2014 Posted 12 March 2014 Ahhh, I thought we were on about when did City last have two strikers who both scored 20 in one season
Guest Col city fan Posted 12 March 2014 Posted 12 March 2014 I said in the summer that I expected to see Vardy do much better this season. Though quite as well as he has done, I think very few expected. For me, if he stays fit, he'll get 20 goals plus this season. And I believe on current form he's the best striker in the division. The first goal he scored last night, only he could have scored it. Pace, hugely improved first touch and now a finish to match! Very dangerous player..
Bert Posted 12 March 2014 Posted 12 March 2014 Think it was Lineker last to score 20 league goals at this level. One of them if not both will do it.
Julian Joachim Jr Shabadoo Posted 12 March 2014 Posted 12 March 2014 Did you expect owt else! I didn't I didn't I said I didn't!!
65RosesFox Posted 12 March 2014 Posted 12 March 2014 Not only that but I didn't realise Nugent was on 13 assists, too. So really he should be on 6. And that doesn't include the number of penalties Vardy has won as for some reason that doesn't count as an assist. There's no excuses for Nuge not to reach 20 and I hope both do as Vardy has been snesational. Regardless though between our deadly strike force they have been involved in 53 of our 77 goals i believe? Nuge 19 goals 13 assists Vardy 15 goals 5 asissts 77 goals in all competitions. Unbelievable Jeff!
LCCFox96 Posted 12 March 2014 Posted 12 March 2014 The form of Vardy and Nugent, and indeed Ings and Vokes, shows you need to very good strikers to be competing at the top this year. Leicester and Burnley are the only sides who have had that consistently and explains why we have made such a march on it. Would love both to hit 20. If Vardy has another game like last night on Saturday and hits say another brace he will only need 3 more which is much more doable. I'd definitely expect Nuge to hit 20. I'm all for penalties counting in goal tallies as it's a skill to step up and take them but when your penalty taker in a top side (especially with the amount we've had) you should be hitting 20.
