Is he good enough

Absolutely no chance!

Imgs would get a call up before Vardy.

Plus there would need to be a disaster of injuries for England to be short.

Woy will only take 4 strikers and there's 6 who have been mentioned from the Prem:

Rooney

Sturridge

Rodriguez

Lambert

Welbeck

Carroll

Then there's Gary Hooper who I think deserves a chance in a friendly.

I'm a huge Vardy fan but to take any player to a National Competition who is the second tier of English Football is stupid. I know the England team isn't that great but until you're proven at the top flight then you shouldn't be considered.

However next season if he carries on with the performances he has been putting in consistently this season then he deserves a chance in a friendly, and then it's up to him to earn a recall just like Lambert did.

I'd be confident of Vardy doing better than both Rooney and Carroll in Brazil.

Carroll is one dimensional and a poor striker anyway. Rooney is so overrated and over coached its unreal.

Vardy would be raw, like Townsends first few games for England.

I'm not saying Vardy is better than Rooney but he'd be much more effective

Will he score in the top flight yes. He works so hard and has pace to burn and that scares defenders. Plus as he's a bit of a rascal he doesn't get shoved of the ball that easily.

Is he world class. No but none of englands players are. So I would take him to brazil. He wouldn't let us down. Italys back 4 would hate playing against him in the opening game.

I think he deserves it more that lambert or caroll maybe even Rodriguez.

if it didn't work then what have you lost really. Maybe a shake up of the england squad would be a good thing.

Pearce and wright show you can do it.

Not bias at all then. Some of our supporters need to take off their blue tinted specs from time time and be a little more realistic.

Rodriguez has scored 11 goals and has 5 assists for Southampton in 29 Premier League appearances.

Whereas Vardy has scored 15 goals 4 assists in 32 appearances in the second tier.

Suggesting you'd even consider taking Vardy before him is ludacrous.

Don't get me wrong Vardy has been sensational this season and If he has a good season next season then he deserves a chance in a friendly, and likewise with Ings.

So from an England's perspective rather than a Leicester one, you're telling me you'd honestly prefer to see Vardy at Brazil to Rooney?

World has gone mad.

That's what I'm honestly saying yes. Its only ever going to be a hypothetical situation so its very easy to laugh and on the face of it it sounds stupid. But I've been waiting for 10 years for Rooney to perform at another tournament. Rooney was raw and direct back then like Vardy is now.

As a striker Rooney is really not all that. Of course there are players like Ings who are on a par with Vardy possibly. I'd take either of those over Rooney.

What have we to lose? We're gonna do shit anyway

Sturridge, Rooney, Rodriguez, Lamber, Carroll, Welbeck, Defoe, Walcott, Crouch and Ings would probably all be ahead of him.

Hart

Johnson

Cahill

Jagielka

Shaw

Drinkwater

Gerrard

Wilshere

Redmond

Vardy

Townsend

Costa Rica would go into a game against that team as favourites.

Not a chance. Aside from the fact unless players play in one of the top teams in the Prem England never seem to dare call players up, he's not ready.

He's quick, but I still wouldn't say he's clinical. His finishing is much improved though now he's found confidence. But who knows how he'll cope in the Prem, let alone international level. Especially with fewer chances and if he misses his first few chances his confidence could drop.

I think Danny Ings would get called up before Vardy - he's a lot younger with more upside.

Your first paragraph is the exact reason why Rooney will be going. There would be media uproar if he didn't make the squad.

However we need to move on. Accept that we're shit and will get worse before we get better.

Townsend was a breath of fresh air but give him a couple of years and he'll have faded the same as any other international since Gazza

I can see him along with Liam Moore getting a call up once we're in the premier league. But there's no chance in hell Hodgson would have the guts to call a championship player up. Though thinking about both Liam and Jamie don't play for usual top seven! so they could be struggling next year aswell.

Vardy should be a distant 7th or 8th choice.

Roy should be watching him but only "just in case". That said if we were to play a high-intensity, high-pressing game I don't think there would be a better centre forward in the country.

I wondered how long it would take before this thread was started.

Not a hope of going to the world cup. If he excels in the prem then he'd have an outside chance of making the Euro squad in a couple of years....

Bingo! And there's the point.

Vardy could look superb for England... why not? He's got pace to scare most older International defenders and he's on scintillating form. The first goal he scored Tues night was taking the piss.

But that's because he's playing in a good team at this level and in a formation that fits him.

It all depends how old Woy would play him. And I bet it wouldn't be in a high intensity, high pressing game. Played in a completely different way, you'd probably see a shadow of the player he is for us.

Sturridge and Rooney will start, if fit. We all know it.

Second highest English scorer in the Prem this season, and joint most assists in the Prem this season, so yeah it would be uproar if he didn't go!

And for people saying he's never performed for England, England haven't performed as a country in competitions for over ten years.

There's only a handful of players in that period that can say they've performed well for England, and one of them is one of the best centre backs in the Prem, but because of the shambles of the England set up he's retired from international football.

After watching Sean St Ledger score in the European Championships I believe it is possible Jamie Vardy could score in a World Cup after all it's a game of International football just like any other

lol ridiculous. Vardy for England? I hope not. We don't want his confidence knocking before a season in Premiership!

Euro's I think he stands more a chance.

I cannot seriously believe this thread was created!!!    April fools day is a while of yet .

C'mon get real.    I know us Leicester fans can get a bit carried away sometimes but to even suggest that Jamie Vardy is good enough to even be considered for an England call up is simply ridiculous.

Yes the lad has come on leaps and bounds this season and fair play to him.  He has improved incredibly and his confidence is sky high and I love his non stop running and raw pace.

As wonderful as he has been this season and he is a fans favourite now.  I love him to bits but lets see what he can do in the Premier League first before selecting him for a bloo  dy world cup!!!

Food for thought: Did Southampton fans pose this question about Rickie Lambert during the season they went up from the Championship? And were the responses similar, or would they have been?

2nd Paragraph- because since then we've relied on one bloke who as I've said, ain't that good
