sylofox Posted 13 March 2014 Posted 13 March 2014 Jamie Vardy? Asked today by a spurs sth could he is he good enough to travel this summer if we are short. Also how good will he be in the prem? You guys know better as I get to few games. But the guy that asked obviously takes note and is looking. So is he good enough for a fringe spot. Are we going to lose him to a big spending in the summer. Hope we won't but would love him to make the squad.
Vardinhio Posted 13 March 2014 Posted 13 March 2014 The England squad? Are you serious? He is nowhere near it.
One Legged Beaver Posted 13 March 2014 Posted 13 March 2014 It's hard to say as he isn't tested against top class opposition in the championship but I would probably lean to the opinion of no. I think it would be a disaster if he was to get called up anyway, could you imagine the media driven hurricane of abuse that would be heading his way would he to be called up just for being in the Championship? It would be relentless and could break the man.
Ashley Posted 13 March 2014 Posted 13 March 2014 He will get the token call up, don't worry. Come Nov when people are pulling out of the England squad he will get his token call up!
Lineker's Left Foot Posted 13 March 2014 Posted 13 March 2014 They both are as England are fookin shite and need some quality
Tom's Pasta Posted 13 March 2014 Posted 13 March 2014 Massive overreaction from some people. He's playing really well and his pace makes him a nightmare to defend against for championship defenders, but he still has parts of his game to improve on.
The Year Of The Fox Posted 13 March 2014 Posted 13 March 2014 I'd take him. He's raw, bloody quick and bound to surprise a few. No I'm not wumming I just diskike Rooney that much
Donut Posted 13 March 2014 Posted 13 March 2014 Lightyears away from being an international player. Not sure how he would fare in the premiership at the moment. Im sure the striking department will be strengthened in the summer.
Bob Weasel Fox Posted 13 March 2014 Posted 13 March 2014 I would give him a run out in a friendly personally but like others are saying possibly a bit too soon still realistically
Fox92 Posted 13 March 2014 Posted 13 March 2014 I should imagine Ings would be looked at first, if Roy looks lower than the Premier League. Mind you, with our depressing list of strikers he should look at taking me.
LCFC FOX Posted 13 March 2014 Posted 13 March 2014 It would be good to see him have an England call up. Hart Johnson Cahill Jagielka Shaw Drinkwater Gerrard Wilshere Redmond Vardy Townsend
sylofox Posted 13 March 2014 Author Posted 13 March 2014 The England squad? Are you serious? He is nowhere near it. Like I said asked by a spurs STH I don't think he is. All I take from it is he is raising eyebrows. My take is nice to know other/prem fans are taking notice of what NP is doing.
ADK Posted 13 March 2014 Posted 13 March 2014 He's better than Walcott was when Sven picked him. But no, I wouldn't advocate picking a player who's never played in a top level match.

65RosesFox Posted 13 March 2014 Posted 13 March 2014 Absolutely no chance! Imgs would get a call up before Vardy. Plus there would need to be a disaster of injuries for England to be short. Woy will only take 4 strikers and there's 6 who have been mentioned from the Prem: Rooney Sturridge Rodriguez Lambert Welbeck Carroll Then there's Gary Hooper who I think deserves a chance in a friendly. I'm a huge Vardy fan but to take any player to a National Competition who is the second tier of English Football is stupid. I know the England team isn't that great but until you're proven at the top flight then you shouldn't be considered. However next season if he carries on with the performances he has been putting in consistently this season then he deserves a chance in a friendly, and then it's up to him to earn a recall just like Lambert did.
kingfox Posted 13 March 2014 Posted 13 March 2014 His pace will be a threat in any league he plays in I think, if he remains giving 100% and chasing down everything, I think most defenders in the Prem, will have a difficult time against him here and there. His finishing has improved dramatically this season, if he can sustain that if we get promoted then that could be a huge factor to our season. I would honestly start him in the Premier League as well, I would drop Nugent to the bench and bring a top name in for a couple of million.

If we want to buy a top name striker we need to be spending a lot more than £2mil. I wouldn't be surprised if we spend more than our current record signing amount to bring one in.

I'm not sure how much of Vardy you seen in previous seasons gone by then because his finishing has ALWAYS been a strong point of his very clinical with both feet.
Bayfox Posted 13 March 2014 Posted 13 March 2014 Will he score in the top flight yes. He works so hard and has pace to burn and that scares defenders. Plus as he's a bit of a rascal he doesn't get shoved of the ball that easily. Is he world class. No but none of englands players are. So I would take him to brazil. He wouldn't let us down. Italys back 4 would hate playing against him in the opening game. I think he deserves it more that lambert or caroll maybe even Rodriguez. if it didn't work then what have you lost really. Maybe a shake up of the england squad would be a good thing. Pearce and wright show you can do it.
Dan Posted 13 March 2014 Posted 13 March 2014 Easy to get carried away. If his meteoric rise doesn't stop in the Premier League then I actually think one day he might, but I don't think it'll happen. Drinkwater, James & Moore though - I think all three of those can play for England one day.
Grewks Posted 13 March 2014 Posted 13 March 2014 Why would anyone want to play for England? It is depressing enough watching it, let alone realise you are playing for em.
Mark_w Posted 13 March 2014 Posted 13 March 2014 They might as well send Tom Pope, it really doesn't matter because we've got no chance of winning it.
Arriba Los Zorros Posted 13 March 2014 Posted 13 March 2014 as an aside, how good has his left foot become? or was he always left footed? in that case his right has become excellent. just remember him being a bit one-footed last season. thank feck we stuck with him
DennisNedry Posted 13 March 2014 Posted 13 March 2014 No, not yet anyway. But then Nuge got a cap didn't he?
