Will he score in the top flight yes. He works so hard and has pace to burn and that scares defenders. Plus as he's a bit of a rascal he doesn't get shoved of the ball that easily.

Is he world class. No but none of englands players are. So I would take him to brazil. He wouldn't let us down. Italys back 4 would hate playing against him in the opening game.

I think he deserves it more that lambert or caroll maybe even Rodriguez.

if it didn't work then what have you lost really. Maybe a shake up of the england squad would be a good thing.

Pearce and wright show you can do it.

 

Let's get real, Italys back four would knock it around him with as much as batting an eye lid while he chased them down for 10 minutes before collapsing through heat exhaustion in the 31 degree heat and 80% humidity.

It’s a shame that the WC has come a year too early for Vardy. This time next year I can see him being a realistic option for England, but not now.

 

However, England do always make the mistake of taking the ‘big name’ players to tournaments, rather than the players in form…. No doubt this Summer will see Lampard and Gerrard (combined age 68) once again struggle to play together in the England Central midfield… with Ross Barkley looking on from the bench...

 

Just once, it would be nice if, like Brazil always try and do, we took a team of young, hungry players to the WC.

 

No doubt we will stick to the ‘tried and tested’ method of playing all  the old farts who failed miserably four years ago (when they were young enough to actually be international class…)

Would be interesting to see Vardy at international level. There aren't many strikers who chase down everything and I reckon he'd be a real thorn in the side of some defences. He could definitely do a job but I doubt he'll ever get called up unless he plays absolutely insanely in the premiership. He needs a much longer run of form, like Lambert did to get a call up. He could do it though.

I'd be confident of Vardy doing better than both Rooney and Carroll in Brazil.

Carroll is one dimensional and a poor striker anyway. Rooney is so overrated and over coached its unreal.

Vardy would be raw, like Townsends first few games for England.

I'm not saying Vardy is better than Rooney but he'd be much more effective

Was thinking the same thing myself when watching the last England friendly. Sounds a bit mental, but if we had Rooney in our squad, Vardy would be starting ahead of him on current form!

I genuinely don't believe that there is a striker out there who is better at doing what he does. His work rate and pace is up there with the best in the country so why not?

 

Does he deserve a chance? Of course he does, if Bothroyd and Zaha get call ups whilst in the Championship then so should Vardy.

I agree... not sure on who will be the 4th though. Good easily be Andy Carroll.

Again, if you were an ageing defender, who would you rather mark? Carroll or Vardy? No brainer for me.

Not a hope of going to the world cup. If he excels in the prem then he'd have an outside chance of making the Euro squad in a couple of years....

I just think he'd ruffle a few feathers and would constantly be in the opposition's face. He'd remove the element of the amount of time you get on the ball which is why it would be interesting.

This thread shows how far Vardy's come since last season, when many wanted to see him transferred. I've always been quite keen on Vardy, because of his pace, but like most, amazed at what he's done this season. International quality - I don't think so (sufficient players with better technical quality or  finishing). Premier League quality - definitely. Apart from Vardy himself, much credit should go to NP and staff for his development, and playing in a style that suits his game.

To be quite honest anyone seriously suggesting he should even be considered as a reserve for Brazil should just jack in watching football all together. He's got 15 Championship goals and runs about a bit, he wouldn't get anywhere at the top level.

The majority? Really? We've had some great strikers in the past, granted, but interspersed with a shitload of complete and utter guff. He's not yet up there with the best, not by a long chalk, but he's already a million miles ahead of a large percentage of so called strikers we've suffered over the years.

no I know and I took your point about the heat and him burning himself out after 20 mins. But as an out and out attacking threat I'd genuinely prefer him to Rooney (amongst many strikers)

I know it sounds laughable but Rooney gives us nothing IMO. Too many tactics revolve around him and rely on him having a fantastic game. Something he's not done since 04 in tournaments

Again, I genuinely believe Vardy WOULD give many international defenders something to think about.

Given a list of Defoe, Carroll, Rodriguez for instance, I'd rather mark them than Vardy at present.

The Italian defenders love a physical battle. You stick someone up against them that's gonna turn them and get them having to chase back, it's a different story. They'd be fouling him left, right and centre.

I'm being serious. Played in the right way, I think Vardy in his current form, offers something else.
