sylofox Posted 14 March 2014 Posted 14 March 2014 So Nige thought he was worth 420k Cardiff's opening shot must have been 8mil. They would not have turned down 2,3 or 4mill. Nige would have not been that far off the mark. That's just plain crazy. Thank fook Sven had gone we would have been in for about 15mill.
sylofox Posted 14 March 2014 Posted 14 March 2014 Sometimes it takes time to adapt to a different league. He's been a called a 'flop' quickly. Not that I'm saying I want him, but in Nige we trust. Your right it took Vardy 12 months. But nige did not spend 8mill.
LeicesterBran Posted 14 March 2014 Posted 14 March 2014 I do reckon he has potential, he was good last season in the Danish League. It's a massive step up from a lower quality league in Denmark to one of the world's best in the Premier League. Had he played in the Championship for he could have proved to be one of the best in the division and maybe had what it takes to play in the PL.
Guest Posted 14 March 2014 Posted 14 March 2014 I love Pearson. I genuinally think he can take us a long way if given the time.
LC/FC Posted 14 March 2014 Posted 14 March 2014 It's an interesting article highlighting the negotiations side of football and valuations of players. For what it's worth I don't think Nige intentionally meant to slight Mackay but it can be unintentionally construed that way. But I think he was just trying to explain the difference between clubs and how they do things when conducting business, with the comparison between the one they got and the one that got away. Amazing thing from this is that Vardy is judged to be worth more than this Cornelius who somehow got bought for 8 times as much. Sven era like splurgings. But it does show the importance to get the balance right between quality and value for money. Whereas a stupidly rich club like Chelsea or Man City can afford to basically say 8 million is a write off if the player doesn't click or one for the future if they're young. Clubs like Cardiff, Swansea, Norwich etc can't really afford to splurge silly amounts, and we're lucky enough to have owners that, yes financed Sven's lunacy but also wrote that off and forked it from there own pockets. 5 million for Akinbiyi near enough killed us dead years ago. Ultimately for me, this has me believing that we won't ever be mugged off for signing dross because of the system the management team has in place and that we can actually aquire some rare gems as well.
RowlattsFox Posted 14 March 2014 Posted 14 March 2014 I wonder if we'll go back in for him with a cut price deal in the summer.
Buzzell Posted 14 March 2014 Posted 14 March 2014 Big money moves come with big expectations. Unfortunately for the young lad he just didn't settle at Cardiff. TBH he never really got a chance there.
Out Foxed Posted 14 March 2014 Posted 14 March 2014 Almost as bad as paying 5 million for Matt Mills Almost... we didn't
Fox_in_a_Box Posted 14 March 2014 Posted 14 March 2014 "Whether people like that or not I’m not really bothered" He's nigel pearson He's not really bothered He's not really booooooooothered We're leicester city we're top of the league!
Adster Posted 15 March 2014 Posted 15 March 2014 I signed Cornelius on Football Manager and he's just broken Arthur Chandler's scoring record by scoring the winner in the Champions League final for the second consecutive year. He cost me £15.75million though... He turns into an absolute ****ing demon on FM. My second season in the Prem with Leicester I blew my whole 9.4m budget to sign him and he scores a goal a game, without fail.
ozleicester Posted 15 March 2014 Posted 15 March 2014 Unlike Pearson to comment in a negative way re another manager considering how he likes to keep his own dealings under wraps. In spite of his ultimate success I'm sure there's many that thought 1 mill for Vardy was extremely generous andcput a lot of pressure on him. I certainly did... proved me wrong, happy to admit it.
katieakita Posted 15 March 2014 Posted 15 March 2014 Typical Mail story, they can put spin on any story or turn it anyway they like, i read the various stories they make up about the Post office and normally it is very old news or blatantly untrue. Do not think Pearson has a go at anyone and do not beleive for one moment that the question had anything to do about Cardiff City or their nutter owner.
Winnershfox Posted 15 March 2014 Posted 15 March 2014 Almost as bad as paying 5 million for Matt Mills Almost... Actually this is a good comparison. Mills was never worth 5 million and never will be..
