Booing

Ask him if he'd be happier of they played good football and were struggling against relegation?

I remember under MON we didn't play attractive football a lot of the time. And what about the old Wimbledon team? They all played to their strengths

I have every sympathy with the West Ham fans.

The fact is that the Premier League is an uncompetitive league.  Granted, there are probably only two teams ahead of West Ham who you'd say that the Hammers should be doing better than (Southampton and Stoke), so they are effectively 3rd in their Premier League mini-league of teams similar to them.  In which case, you'd say it's a good season.

However, the reality is that a  team like West Ham cannot within the next 10 years crack the European spots in the Premier League.  So what are the fans supporting?  It's actually quite boring when you think about it.  The team has pretty much reached its ceiling in midtable.  With the exception of a good cup run here and there, that's it.  The only reason to turn up week in week out is pride in your team.  Seeing them compete, play and produce moments of magic on occasion.  Whilst you can understand the need to play defensive boring football against the big teams who have better players, the same cannot be said when playing against teams of a similar or lesser ability.  You'd hope to see your team play an expansionist attacking game against them.  It doesn't happen under Sam and when you've spent thousands on a season ticket, you can understand being p*ssed.

We all remember the chore of going to the Walkers Bowl under Craig Levein.  It was dull, boring, we didn't attack and as a result, it sucked my passion from the team.  I imagine it's the same with the West Ham fans.

I agree with what your saying but surely theres a better way to get your point across than to boo a team thats just WON. If they want to attract players that can play this more attractive style of football then booing the team when they win doesnt give out a great message. I dont think players want to hear...

We Boo when we win

We Boo when we winnnn

We're West Ham fans

We Boo when we win

I can see it from both sides. On the face if it it sounds absolutely ridiculous.

Then again, as a fan and a football person I ask for football to be played the right way, or at least attempt it. Allardyce is, tbf, a stain on English football.

Yeh, I can see where the West Ham fans are coming from, even if they are stupid annoying cockneys who think they're god's gift to football. People are paying big money for top flight matches and nobody wants to watch Allardyce's shit week after week.

Football isn't just about winning, in fact it's not even the most important thing for me. People want to be entertained, after all, football is an entertainment, that's why we watch it. Playing crap is one thing, but purposefully playing shite football every single week is not really acceptable. It's the kind of thing Stoke have been hated for for years.

I don't think I could ever see myself booing a win though, it's too weird and just makes you look a disabled.

Couldnt care less mate, its just shite whatever, not even interested where we are on the league tabel, its just boring stuff i have no interest i watching, makes me hate the sport.

Anyway the bottom line is that booing after a victory is fvicking ridiculous and if we ever did it I would have to reconsider my support for our team

What?! How on earth could you reconsider support for your team over the actions of other people??!!!

Because it would no longer be an enjoyable experience

Is that not why west ham fans are booing big sam?

Booing him for delivering another result which will see them playing premier league football again next season. They have probably over achieved this season

If anyone thinks it's ok to boo a team after winning then you need to consider psychiatric help

I think West ham have standards and big sam is a footballing criminal. Good on them, football is much more than just winning.

I was pretty shocked at this, not because of Big Sam's woeful football being booed but it strikes me as the last club who would complain about it.

West Ham in fairness are traditionally a proper footballing club. People who can remember John Lyall and other decent managers that West Ham have previously had playing football on the deck and not in the air will I'm sure have some sympathy with the woeful lack of football that they apparently serve up with big Sam at the helm

Still it is a bit worrying booing when you have won

Would you clap and cheer a shit play if it had a happy ending?

Remember them singing 'We're West Ham United, we play on the floor' the other year. Not sure how many years of Allardyce, Roeder, Redknapp et al they have to go through before they remember they are just another average top-flight/high end second division club that pretty much play the same bland football as most other clubs of their size.

They may have had a few good years many moons ago but I don't buy that they have 'traditionally' played better football than anyone else.

Like others have said Strokes I can sort of see both sides of the argument especially as I said with West Ham having the traditions that they do

However surely it can never be right to boo your own team? Maybe chant Allardyce out if it's his style of play they are criticising?

West Ham are very different to any other fans in Britain.

The way they play is as important and winning isnt everything for them, playing good football is a very big part of what they want they do.

I wouldn't go down Leicester if allardyce was ever appointed, I don't think my neck could take the strain.

But that's what I'm saying in a way, either go and support the team and chant Allardyce out or vote with your feet and don't go?

A seat at the top of the stand is a must. You don't need to be anywhere near the pitch level. Hammers fans joke how the away allocation should be the first ten rows of all four stands.

We dont do that though do we? We love our clubs, we just have to go.

Don't like that analogy. You go to a play to see a good performance and a gripping story. You go to a match to watch your team win.

The performance does matter of course but at the end of the day you're more bothered about whether you picked up three points or not rather than how you did it.

You might be, West Ham and plenty of other supporters aren't. Just because we dont have standards in our style, doesn't mean you can't understand others wanting to maintain that integrity.

That's fair enough actually. I'll have the glory, they can have the moral high ground of pretty football. We're all happy.
