cityfanlee23 Posted 1 April 2014 Author Posted 1 April 2014 There is less space and time on the ball in the prem, pretty much all of the teams press higher and harder. It's a myth. Not so sure personally
Stuliasz Posted 1 April 2014 Posted 1 April 2014 It sounds a bit daft with him being the more senior of the midfielders but hopefully he has picked up quite a bit from James and particularly Drinkwater this season on how to take control in games a bit more. There is no doubting King's ability and with a bit more time on the ball in the Prem, he could be a valuable asset chipping in with a few goals here and there too. Hopefully he'll be able to take up his more advanced role of previous years as I don't think the ball-winning anchorman or box-to-box role suited him as much.
Guest Col city fan Posted 1 April 2014 Posted 1 April 2014 No, but it would be wrong to rule out any of the main first teamers. Some surprise players might adapt better than those you expect to do well. I do agree with this also. Season after season, some players who you think might not make the step-up, surprise you and just seem to become better players. Damien Delaney at Palace is one of them. An ex City player in a defence I thought would really struggle at Palace, is doing pretty well and looks like a decent Premiership defender. I think its a confidence thing. Pulis is clearly a good manager and his players are responding. To be fair, King might do exactly the same such that my reservations about him at Prem level are unfounded.
Guest Col city fan Posted 1 April 2014 Posted 1 April 2014 Regarding Cattermole and 'what the actual fook', I could definately see him doing a good job for us. Absolutely, he's not a classy footballer but he is the kind of player who could make us look more solid. Played in the correct way, he's a natural leader on the pitch and won't be bullied by the opposition. However, I do agree he would need a bit of 'Nige ing'.. ie told in no uncertain terms to control himself and not to fook everything up by getting sent-off. Suitably 'Niged', I think he could be a decent asset to the club.
Sharpe's Fox Posted 1 April 2014 Posted 1 April 2014 How can you turn you're nose up at Cattermole? Prime age, lots of Prem experience, leader and can keep an entire side together singlehandedly. He's a bit of a dick but if he sorted out his tackling he could do a huge job for us.
stb1996 Posted 1 April 2014 Posted 1 April 2014 I think he needs to bulk up a little more first. He's quite weak on and off the ball, and constantly ducks out of 50-50's However he is one of the best finishers of the ball, and is quite a threat in the air as well despite his stature
Father Ted Posted 1 April 2014 Posted 1 April 2014 In the Prem, I'd only consider playing Kingy in a midfield 3 or 5 where he is the most attacking of the 3, in the 'Nugent' role. His finishing and short passing is excellent, he would also press well from the front, it would be ideal for him. I just seriously doubt his impact on games where he plays in a midfield 4, he doesn't have the ball winning ability of James nor the creative mind of Drinkwater. I would definitely keep him, he has been a great servant to the club and his attitude is top notch and he always comes across as a good professional.
Munshi Posted 1 April 2014 Posted 1 April 2014 Want him to stay just for them sensational gurns. Tbh he is a really good squad player.
Littletoe Posted 1 April 2014 Posted 1 April 2014 This club tends to succeed with 1 Welshmen at the club. I say keep him on that basis. Sarcasm aside, he is quality and deserving of atleast a chance next season. Whether he can adapt to Premiership football, remains unknown, 1 thing is for sure, he has played very well in the Championship.
HoustonFox Posted 1 April 2014 Posted 1 April 2014 I can see us playing a 4-3-3 aswell or a 4-5-1 with a defensive mid (James) I would love to see Wood Mahrez Knocky King Drinky James Schlupp Moore _____ Delaet Kasper IN: Striker Attacking midfielder Fullback (one that can play left and right) CB Winger Where is Morgan?!
GingerrrFox Posted 1 April 2014 Posted 1 April 2014 I wouldn't get so excited. Hammond and King haven't given us much stability in that midfield. It's all well and good scoring goals but we are being overrun in there.
little Brian Posted 1 April 2014 Posted 1 April 2014 Kingy doesn't have a future at Leicester .......... .a golden handshake in the summer and could make some club a dependable if predictable signing in the Championship or league 1
Jimmy Posted 1 April 2014 Posted 1 April 2014 I wouldn't get so excited. Hammond and King haven't given us much stability in that midfield. It's all well and good scoring goals but we are being overrun in there. they've been out numbered all game and got no help from Nugent for most of it
ADK Posted 1 April 2014 Posted 1 April 2014 I don't think Hammond has quite got the energy to partner a 2-man midfield but I thought King was decent.
Stadt Posted 1 April 2014 Posted 1 April 2014 they've been out numbered all game and got no help from Nugent for most of it Typical
Unabomber Posted 1 April 2014 Posted 1 April 2014 they've been out numbered all game and got no help from Nugent for most of it Wow.
Jimmy Posted 1 April 2014 Posted 1 April 2014 Typical what? Nugent normally plays off of Vardy dropping into midfield, he wasn't helping out there as much tonight
GingerrrFox Posted 1 April 2014 Posted 1 April 2014 they've been out numbered all game and got no help from Nugent for most of it We've played plenty of games this season against a midfield 3. Drinkwater and James have still dominated the midfield for us. Apart from King, Hammond and Wood that team was our starting 11 not too long ago and we looked a significantly weaker side. Both King and Hammond aren't up to the new standards that we have been setting ourselves this season and also there was a significant drop off at left back with Konchesky looking weaker than Schlupp's recent performances.
MattGamble92 Posted 1 April 2014 Posted 1 April 2014 Hammond was the problem tonight. Anyone with a footballing brain can see that
