Andy King

Might be a bit sentimental but it would be nice for King and Dyer to play some part next season, having been the link with our lowest season in the last 10 years and with Pearson's first spell.

I fully agree..

I think they'll stay and will feature in some capacity.

Hmmmm. The usual Kingy 'love-in'..

Personally I think King may struggle in the Prem, for all the reasons I've previously stated. Even in a 4-3-3 I think we need a better third midfielder.

Bring on all the 'you hate our players' type comments etc etc.

I don't of course.. James and Drinkwater will cope with the pace and the strength of the Premiership. But I expect Pearson to go out in the summer and sign a third central midfielder who can offer more than King.

Sorry...

That said, I don't think we'll sell him and he will play some part as a decent squad player. IMO.

Yeah you are right & of course we will need another midfielder.

But Andy King is good back-up, and unlike yourself Col, I think he could do a job when called upon.

Saying Drinkwater will cope with the pace & strength of the Premier League, it wasn't so long ago, we were saying he wasn't physical enough even for the Championship.

I think he's got stronger mate. And with James (who is strong) they will probably be ok with the step up.

Love him or loathe him, I could see a midfield three of James, Drinky with Cattermole playing just behind them as a strong unit.

Personally do not rate King much but he will still be here next season. He's not consistent enough to reproduce his best form, when he's on it he is a great player but too often he goes missing and doesn't have an impact in games unlike Drinkwater and James. I just feel he will be found wanting even more so at Premier League level. He's never set the Championship alight like Drinkwater and James have and they will be much better off for the step up whereas I think King's level is Top 6 in the Championship.

Cattermole is a bit like saying would you be happy to take Joey Barton, a lot wouldn't want him, and I don't think he is a very good footballer, he is like the Premier League version of Michael Brown, complete dirty shit.

I would love Steve Sidwell at Leicester, out of contract at the end of the season, and if Fulham get relegated he might way up his options.

Midfield trio of Drinkwater - Sidwell - James would be decent.

For me I would love to see him play and make it at the top level.

But, he hasn't really been playing in our successful team this season and I'm just not sure how he'd cope with the Premier League. I've always thought the more time and space he'd get in that league would suit him down to the ground. We can only wait I suppose but I'm pretty sure he'll be staying and be part of the squad for the PL.

The only way it would work is in a midfield three. I just want to see him burst into the box and bury it in the corners like he used to. He's treated us to some top class goals in the past. While I'm unsure he'd do it in the PL, I'd still want him to have the chance.

We don't know how any of them will cope really, we're not sure what formation we will play, the style of football we'll produce and what new signings we have.

He'll stay and be used as a squad player, much like this season. He's a good player to bring on when he need him, just like Hammond.

Shall we just shut the forum now then?

If we let him go for some reason, we would be making a massive mistake.

This is the thing though. Would we? James and Drinky are keeping him out and have done all season. If he spoke to Nige and wasn't in his first team plans for next season it's not that unthinkable that he'd be allowed to leave. He's been a great player for the club and I'd love him to stay but if he wants first team football then he should be allowed to go for his careers sake.

If we did sign Cattermole (and who knows?) and he started to play well, the 'dirty' tag would quickly go amongst the Leicester faithful. Exactly like Savage. When he was AGAINST us, he was loathed, when he was FOR us, the fans suddenly aporeciated his workrate and 'pashun'.

Sidwell, I mentioned earlier in the thread, I'd be keen to take.

Cattermole? and sitting in front of the defence with james and drinky in front? NOT a chance.

and i dont mean because he is a dirty player but he has no positional sense or discipline and another when playing in front of the defence he needs to know how to use the ball - play short passes to relieve pressure and slow the game down, or go sometimes be more direct when we're chasing etc.

 - he's another of the homebread players who've made a name for himself because hes atheltic and can chase all over the pitch...putting him in front of the defence would be silly as he wouldnt sit there and protect - hes like a dog chasing a ball

if we bought cattermole, i think it would be more effective:

drinky, catermole

    james

that way drinky to dictate, cattermole to hassle, harry and go into wild dog mode,

james to sit and also know when to play short passes to slow the game down and long when we want to launch a break

then again i think we can do better than him so its a moot point

I'm trying to imagine him facing some of what would be his PL counterparts and I'm not sure he'll cope really. Worth keeping to see, some players who are good to exceptional at Championship level step up in the PL and some don't. He's worth finding out.

Cattermole? What the actual fvck?!

glad im not the only one to think that. running around unintelligently doesnt always equal a good or effective player

i quite liked the korean (?) centre mid at sunderland, i cant remember his name. When they beat man city 1-0 @ home he was superb in front of his back 4

Ki, able to unlock plenty of doors in premiership defences....

As a squad player, on the bench, he's waited a long time to have a crack at the top flight, so can't see him leaving just yet.

I still rate him maybe he could go play in the role Nugent has been, just off Vardy. But can't see him playing regular in a 2 man midfield in the top flight.

I doubt city will play 2 man midfield in the PL.

If I had the choice.....4 changes for tonight.

Wood (obvious Vardy) Moore (Morgan. REST), King (Knockky/Drinkwater Rest), Konch (Sclupp Rest).

I have had a gut feeling in the last 6 games, that were spot on, tonights call no idea.

That said we beat Burnley why not Wigan.

The Cattermole call's stupid because Nige would never sign a walking red card into our team. He's too pragmatic for one, and knowing potentially that we could go down to 10 men at any given moment isn't something someone so striving for 'balance' would risk.

Posted

Reckon king will get at least a season as a squad player and then move on if he doesn't get much of a look in and we stay up.

He's a decent player who doesn't seem to moan much, not publicly anyway. Will have a part to play.

No, but it would be wrong to rule out any of the main first teamers. Some surprise players might adapt better than those you expect to do well.

Agree :) I think King would make a decent premier league player, more space and time on the ball will suit him

There is less space and time on the ball in the prem, pretty much all of the teams press higher and harder.

It's a myth.
