Filberts_friend Posted 6 April 2014 Posted 6 April 2014 How did you become a doctor? Probably calls himself a doctor because he stays up late masturbating to episodes of Doctor Who
_Fatboyslow_ Posted 6 April 2014 Posted 6 April 2014 A point of information. This has been raised before and someone, who sounded like he knew his stuff, stated that if a player signs a new contract it go's into that years accounts, therefore unless you know the clubs tax year, shows why nothing has been done so far. As the new tax year starts today, FFP is not so much of am issue, things may change.
Dickov22 Posted 6 April 2014 Posted 6 April 2014 Sure he will stay unless a massive club comes in for him. Playing in the Prem is what's important to him and now we can give him that.
_Fatboyslow_ Posted 6 April 2014 Posted 6 April 2014 Sure he will stay unless a massive club comes in for him. Playing in the Prem is what's important to him and now we can give him that. There's a phone interview with SSN on another thread and that gave the impression that kasper expects to be here next season, also Pearson said something along the lines that the squad has earnt the right to be given a chance next season. With Kasper I think the only issue is if he's no 1 or 2 and not behind Logan.
1972 Fox Posted 6 April 2014 Posted 6 April 2014 You really aren't getting it are you? I'll bullet point it: Schmeichel wants to stay However he is out of contract He isn't involved in deciding who gets new contracts Getting a new contract is not up to him. Whether he stays or goes is not in his hands, it's in the clubs since they decide whether to keep him. That they would almost certainly offer a new contract doesn't change that... Not quite true. When the club offer Kasper a new contract it will be his decision to sign or not. He will no doubt have plenty of offers from elsewhere, so he will decide where his future lies. I hope he stays as he has been top quality for us. If he goes I would like to see us buy Darlow from Forest.

Finnegan Posted 6 April 2014 Posted 6 April 2014 I'm guessing the contracts that haven't been extended are largely because we're teetering on the brink or FFP compliance and the board are trying to secure as few of them as they can get away with before the end of this FFP period?
Babylon Posted 6 April 2014 Posted 6 April 2014 I thought he was quite smart with his answers and never actually committed. Putting focus on the club and it not being in his hands, talking about looking forward to playing in the premier (well he could do that with other teams), and saying he's enjoyed playing here.

We would assume that's right also in addition to that it will have been in the players interest to have waited till the end of the season too because now the club will be able to offer players like Kasper a much more competitive contract than they would of been able to a few months back so several understandable reasons why nothings happened yet
_Fatboyslow_ Posted 6 April 2014 Posted 6 April 2014 Maybe Babs, but this is the same guy who still thinks the ball crossed the line against Yeovil.

Assuming his new contract starts after 31 May, FFP is irrelevant now.
_Fatboyslow_ Posted 6 April 2014 Posted 6 April 2014 Assuming his new contract starts after 31 May, FFP is irrelevant now. Not quite, if we push the boat out in the wrong financial period we can still be fined for over spending in that season
1966fox Posted 6 April 2014 Posted 6 April 2014 How did you become a doctor? How did you become a doctor?if city don't offer Kasper a new contract how is that in Kaspers hands?
Webbo Posted 6 April 2014 Posted 6 April 2014 Why wouldn't the club offer Kasper a new contract? Whether he stays or not is up to him.
Jace Posted 6 April 2014 Posted 6 April 2014 if city don't offer Kasper a new contract how is that in Kaspers hands? Can you not read? The point was they will be offering him a new contract, there is no logical reason that we know of why they wouldn't or do you know of 1 that you can let us know of please?
Jimothy Posted 6 April 2014 Posted 6 April 2014 Not quite, if we push the boat out in the wrong financial period we can still be fined for over spending in that season Surely if he signs a new deal to start once this one runs out, it won't matter when he signs it, as long as it starts in our next financial year? He can essentially sign a pre-contract agreement with us.

I hope he stays by the way,
LCCFox96 Posted 6 April 2014 Posted 6 April 2014 I'd like to think now it's done Kasper will be staying. Especially as he may win a bit of silverware with us now too. It'd be a real kick in the teeth if he leaves having been an undisputed regular in a promotion season. I don't think he will go though. The club now need to make decisions on a few of these contracts. Surely they'll offer Kasper a new deal. If not I can see him choosing to leave sooner rather than later. I could never see him uprooting and going abroad to somewhere like Milan and I don't think a top premiership team will come in for him but that doesn't mean he won't leave. Let's get him tied down for another 3 years at least!
Jace Posted 6 April 2014 Posted 6 April 2014 Yes I can read, (rude!) maybe he will get a new contract or maybe not I don't know, until that is resolved it is not in Kaspers hands, is that so very difficult for you to understand? I hope he stays by the way, There wasn't ever a problem with me understanding that in the 1st place was there? I was pointing out realistically the situation soon will very much be in his hands sorry if that is over your head

He's said he wants to stay, but doesn't decide if he gets a new deal - so it's out of his hands until that decision is made by the club. I don't understand why people find this so hard to understand.
katieakita Posted 6 April 2014 Posted 6 April 2014 Sure everything is well in hand, since bringing in Nigel and his team the owners have been better than anyone could have hoped for. The first aim was to acheive promotion and we have done that with a better, cheaper ,younger squad than SGE had assembled. Some of the squad are premier league class and it will show.

He can essentially sign a pre-contract agreement with us. That may be the case and as I only have a casual interest in FFP and the accounting of the club I would not want to go out on a limb either way, but it may not be as simple as it appears. I do think it's fair to say that the owners will be a little wary and maybe NP comes first. This is also a good example of the position a lot of players will find themselves in. The Reading manager was saying on radio Berks that they had players that in the past would have had deals done by now, but things are different now. It should be interesting to see how this works out, and I do feel that it would be wrong for the club to sign up players before the managers position is sorted. As long as Logan is not the starting keeper on the first day of the new season I will stand by what the club decides.
